Top Prospect Games West: Blast Leaderboard
June 26, 2020
Using sensor technology that fits on the knob of a bat, without impeding the player, Blast Motion collected data to analyze every hitter’s swing at this year's PBR Maryland Top Prospect Games West. During batting practice, the Blast Motion sensors measured Swing and Impact Metrics across several categories. Swing metrics measure pre-impact mechanics centered around plane, connection, and rotation while Impact metrics measure pre-impact performance outcomes based on ball contact. Below are the top performers in five of the categories measured using the Blast Motion sensors.
BLAST SWING METRICS
ON PLANE EFFICIENCY
On plane efficiency measures the percentage of your swing where the bat is on the swing plane. (MLB average is 73%).
ROTATIONAL ACCELERATION
Rotational acceleration is how quickly your bat accelerates into the swing plane and is measured in G's (g-force). (MLB average is 16.8 G's).
