Level path through the zone with a high complete finish. Lower half is aggressive getting through and Matheny finishes in an upright position. Displayed some gap to gap power potential at the plate and posted an exit velocity of 90 mph. Behind the plate the feet got in line with the throw, finished over the front side, and stayed in line with the throw. Clean exchange, short arm action, and throws from a high three-quarter arm slot. Positional velocity was 72 mph and pops ranged from 2.13-2.25. 60 time was 7.40.

5-foot 10, 180-pound right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open, athletic stance and incorporates a short stride to begin. Displayed advanced feel for the barrel and an ability to stay behind the baseball and create tons of backspin during a very good round of batting practice. Loudest round of the day. Registered an event best 88 mph bat exit velocity and ran a 7.87 60-yard dash. Flashed pop times of 2.16-2.19 on throws of 69 mph from the crouch and displayed a soft glove hand defensively. Matheny will be a player to keep an eye on in the Maryland class of 2021.
