Top 10 Profiles of 2022: No. 1 J.D. Dix
December 30, 2022
Today, we will conclude our end-of-the-year countdown to the most-viewed player profiles in Wisconsin from this year, which has led us to today, revealing the No. 1 player on the list, and one that might not be so surprising.
Our profiles serve as an all-in-one platform for players, hosting vendors such as verified stats, event video, contact information, and more. To create a free PBR profile, click HERE.
Coming in at No. 1 with the Most-Viewed Profile of 2022 is none other than SS JD Dix (Whitefish Bay, 2024; Alabama commit). Since his first performance in front of our staff back in 2021 at the South Milwaukee Preseason ID, he has proved to our staff that he is a premier prospect in the state’s 2024 class and his performances this year were no different.
Starting in the winter at the beginning of 2022, Dix made his way back out to Hitters Baseball Academy for the most recent South Milwaukee Preseason ID. There, the switch-hitter arguably took the top round of BP from both sides of the plate, but one of our staff’s biggest takeaways was the improvements he made to his running ability as he registered a 6.61 time in the 60-yard, compared to the 7.17 he ran the previous year. These advances to his athleticism also allowed him to cover even more ground on the infield than he already did, looking more like a surefire shortstop than he had in the past, quickly improving the few areas that were seen as room for growth for evaluators. His performance there was one of the best we saw throughout the entire winter circuit, regardless of class and he looked the part of a high-end prospect from a national perspective.
J.D. Dix (3/6/22)
After a productive spring season where he earned PBR Wisconsin All-State: First Team honors as just a sophomore, Dix amassed attention all across the summer circuit and earned some national recognition as a result. One of Dix’s best showings of the entire summer came at the Area Code Underclass Games where our Vice President of Scouting, Shooter Hunt was on hand and here are his thoughts following Dix’s performance:
“Dix might end up being the best player in the country before this ‘24 group graduates, and was fun to watch in all that he did throughout the weekend. His 6-foot-2, 180-pound frame comes equipped with some lean natural strength and wide shoulders, and still holds plenty of room for added strength. A supreme athlete who plays the game with a high IQ, the switch-hitting shortstop has a handsier load that works in sync with the lower half before turning the barrel with some authority. The Alabama recruit demonstrated a willingness to utilize the whole field from both sides of the plate, and as a downhill runner was constantly applying the pressure on the bases. There is some “it factor” to all that he does on the diamond, and he already looks the part as the next big shortstop to come out of Wisconsin. He went 3-for-8 on the weekend with three walks.”

After his standout performance while at the Area Code Underclass Games, Dix rose up to No. 8 in our national rankings, which is one of the highest a Wisconsin prospect has reached since Jarred Kelenic (Waukesha West, 2018) occupied the No. 2 overall spot in our final Class of 2018 rankings update. While what Dix accomplished this year is impressive, what’s even more impressive is that he still has two more years of high school baseball left before he heads off to Alabama or hears his name called in the 2024 MLB Draft, which is a scenario he’s barreling toward right now.
