Team Wisconsin: Game Three Recap

From July 26th through July 29th, the Prep Baseball Report staff will run the 13th-annual PBR Future Games at the state-of-the-art LakePoint Sports Complex in Emerson, GA. 

The PBR Future Games workout took place on July 26th, kicking off a week of action at the largest uncommitted event of the year. The best uncommitted prospects from the 2025 and 2026 from 40+ states will participate in a three-game round-robin tournament to showcase their talents. 

This event will run in conjunction with the PBR Junior Future Games. The Junior Future Games features some of the top up-and-coming prospects within the 2027 and 2028 classes, featuring a tournament-style competition in a 14U and 13U field of teams from all across the nation. 

Below is a game recap and top performers from Thursday's first game as they took on a talented Team Michigan squad.

GAME THREE: TEAM WISCONSIN VS TEAM MISSOURI

Team Wisconsin wrapped up the gameplay portion of the weekend with a battle against Team Missouri on Saturday, showcasing their talents on the national stage for one last time in the summer.

The start of the game featured standouts on both ends of the ball, beginning with RHP Adam Urban (Wauwatosa West, 2025). In the first two innings of play, Urban shut down a strong Team Missouri lineup, retiring six of the seven batters he faced. The right-hander utilized a three-pitch mix, including a mid-to-upper-80s fastball and deceptive splitter that kept hitters off balance and induced strikeouts, as he finished with two. 

His two shutout innings allowed Team Wisconsin to take a lead; INF/RHP Eli Bryant (Beaver Dam, 2025) launched a home run over the left field wall to put the prospects from the Badger State up 2-0, jumping all over a first-pitch fastball. 

SS Preston Yaucher (Edgewood, 2025), as he did all weekend, played a large role for Team Wisconsin both offensively and defensively. Early in the game, the shortstop made a slick diving play in the hole, reached his feet and threw a runner out with ease. He followed that up in his first at bat with a single, his fourth hit in three games.

Team Wisconsin’s offense would not put up another run until the fifth inning, where OF Trevor Vande Hey (Wrightstown, 2025) showed off his ridiculous power and bat speed, barreling a no-doubt home run to left-center field. Vande Hey posted some of the best statistics from the workout day, and cashed in during his final at bat in Georgia.  

On the pitching end, RHP Loren Georger (Appleton West, 2025) stood out in his second appearance in three games. Georger gave up zero runs in his one inning of work, and sat 85-88 mph with the fastball, reaching 89.5 mph once. The right-hander put together quality outings in both looks, drawing consistent weak contact in the form of fly outs.  

The same could be said for LHP Brolan Frost (Elkhorn, 2025), who exited Georgia as one of the biggest winners for Team Wisconsin. The long 6-foot-4, 165-pound athlete struck out his final batter in his second clean inning of the week, working his fastball in the mid-80s. The pitch was complemented by a quality curveball and changeup, solidifying his arsenal which proved to get outs at a high rate. 

LHP Ryan Brennecke (Oconomowoc, 2025) and RHP Jaxon Clayton (Brookfield Central, 2025) once again put up quality numbers in their second appearances for Team Wisconsin on the mound. Each arm displayed feel for multiple off-speed pitches, in addition to throwing a mid-to-high 80s fastball. 

For the offense, OF Nathan Schopf (Oak Creek, 2025) caught a couple of barrels in this one, earning a single to the gap after lining out in his first plate appearance. Schopf was aggressive all week, and showcased a quick bat and violent swing with power.

INF Jack Lutz (Whitnall, 2025), C Terek Verhage (Monona Grove, 2025), and C Marek Bolson (Oconomowoc, 2025) all tacked on hits to cap off a successful weekend. Unfortunately for Team Wisconsin, it was not enough as they lost 9-3 to Team Missouri. 

With that, the 2023 PBR Future Games came to a conclusion. The PBR Wisconsin staff is excited to follow these incoming juniors throughout the rest of their prep career and beyond, as they provided an intriguing look into the under-the-radar talent that resides in the state of Wisconsin.
