Q&A With Braylen Wimmer
PBR OK: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it as expected?
Wimmer: The recruiting process for me wasn't necessarily unexpected it all just came really fast. Although it's awesome having schools show interest in you, personally I wasn't the biggest fan of the recruiting process.
PBR OK: You committed soon after participating in this year’s PBR Future Games for Team OK/KS, describe your experience at that event.
Wimmer:The future games was a great experience. Getting to play against some of the best kids around the country while getting exposure to almost all colleges was awesome.
PBR OK: What do you like most about the college you committed to, and what were the key factors in making your decision?
Wimmer: Besides everything, the one thing that really stood out to me was Coach Kingston and his staff. Obviously my ultimate goal is to play in the major leagues and I think South Carolina is going to help give the best opportunity to do that while competing at a high level and winning games.
PBR OK: Did location or distance from home play a factor in your decision?
Wimmer: A little bit, but with a program like South Carolina, that didn't really play a factor for me.
PBR OK: What other schools were on your short list before you made your final decision?
Wimmer: OSU, Missouri, Missouri State, Kansas
PBR OK: What advice would you give to young baseball players striving to get where you are?
Wimmer: Keep getting better. Too many people just expect results from having a good year in high school. It takes a lot more for schools to show interest in you. It takes commitment and you have to have passion for the game.
PBR OK: Preview your high school season for us. How do you feel your team will be? What are your expectations and goals?
Wimmer: I think we are going to have a pretty good team this year. Obviously the ultimate goal is to win a state championship and I think we have a good shot.
PBR OK: Where do you play in the summer? And what has been your most memorable experience with them?
Wimmer: Swat Academy, and probably winning one of the 5 tool tournaments.

A a recent South Carolina commits, 6-foot-1, 150-pound frame with long legs, very projectable. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a balanced, athletic set-up with rhythm in his hands. Uses a moderate, hanging stride for timing, very quick hands, and flat bat path. In BP, shows a pull gap, flat approach, was consistently on time and found barrels, one of the best rounds of the event. Exit velo of 89 mph that will continue to rise as he puts on size and strength. Runs a 6.76 60. Defensively, shows advanced hands and feet with consistently clean and confident actions. Throws from a low-3/4 slot, 81 mph across the diamond with accuracy. Easily one of the top SS at the Future Games.
