OSSAA 5A State Tournament MVP
May 18, 2022
It was a remarkable run by the Duncan Demons in 2022 with multiple players having strong performances but none as important as the opening round starting pitcher in 2023 left-hander Brance Garrett. In the one game were runs were at a premium for the Demons in the State Tournament it was Garrett's complete game shutout against Bishop Kelley that helped them advance through the Tournament and capture a State Title. The junior lefty went 7 innings allowing only 2 hits and three walks while punching out 12 to complete the 2-0 shutout and help his team advance. The bats would later come alive for the Demons in the semi-finals and Championship game scoring 17 and 15 runs in each contest but with the Demons needing a strong start on the mound in the opener it was Garrett who answered the call.
Congrats to Brance Garrett on earning this year's 5A State Tournament Most Valuable Player and congratulations to the Duncan Demons on capturing a State Title.
