OK Fall Underclass Prospect Games: LHP Analysis

PBR OK hosted the fourth annual OK Fall Underclass Prospect Games at beautiful Oral Roberts University. Nearly 75 invite-only players showcased their skill in front of the PBR OK staff and ORU staff. The talented event saw five sub 7.00 60s, 6 90+ exit velos, 6 infield velos of 80+, 5 outfield velos of 85+, 5 sub 2.00 second pop times, and 5 max fastballs at 85 mph. Brance Garrett LHP / OF / Yukon , OK / 2023A physically advanced frame for his age at 5-foot-11, 180-pounds. On the mound, the left-hander works from an up-tempo delivery with a high leg kick before striding down the mound and finishing slightly to the third base side. Arm drops straight down out of the break before making a clean and short circle coming through a high-¾ slot. Fastball shows consistent cut with late action at 76-79 mph, mostly strikes. Curveball has shorter 1/7 shape at 60-64 mph, some strikes. In the game, punched out 3 of the 5 batters he faced and did not allow a free pass or a hit. |
Trevin Pettigrew 1B / LHP / Yukon, OK / 2023A durable 5-foot-11, 210-pound frame with some strength throughout. On the mound, the left-hander works from a slow and controlled delivery with a high leg kick before gliding slowly down the mound and finishing balanced. Arm action has controlled length in the back before coming through a high-¾ slot. Fastball sits 72-75 mph flashing arm-side run, occasional strikes. Changeup shows some cut at 71-72 mph. |
Reid Williams 1B / LHP / Bishop Kelley, OK / 2022A 6-foot-1, 192-pound athletic frame with some advanced strength throughout. On the mound, the left-hander works from a deliberate and smooth delivery before taking a long stride down the mound and finishing balanced. Arm action is long and controlled in the back before getting short and coming through an over the top slot with some arm speed. Fastball shows consistent and heavy cut at 77-79, mostly strikes. Chageup shows consistent fade at 71-73, mostly strikes. Curveball shows consistent 1/7 shape with late depth at 69-71 mph. In the game, Williams punched out 3 and did not allow a hit facing 6 batters. |
Rhylan Wright OF / LHP / Jenks, OK / 2022A lean 5-foot-11, 155-pound projectable frame. On the mound, the left-hander works from a slightly up tempo delivery with a slight pause at the top of his high leg kick before striding down the mound and finishing slightly to the third base side. Arm action is long and loose in the back with a quick change of direction at the bottom of the arm stroke before coming through an over the top slot. Fastball keeps its plane at 71-74 mph, mostly strikes. Curveball shows near 12/6 shape at 62-63 mph. Changeup shows some fade at 66-67 mph, mostly strikes. In the game Wright retired all four batters he faced, striking out one. |
