Indiana Class of 2024: Rankings Update

Indiana’s Class of 2024 is shaping up to be one of the deepest classes we’ve seen in recent years, with 31 players announcing division one commitments to date. Now that the 2022 season is complete, we’ve made some adjustments to our 2024 state rankings. In this update, we highlight two new players entering the Top 10, a few top uncommitted prospects, as well as a look at players who improved their stock this fall.

New Adds to the Top 10

Cameron Sullivan / RHP / Mt. Vernon HS / Notre Dame Commit
The Notre Dame recruit had an impressive showing at the PBR Future Games in July and backed that performance up with a strong fall to shoot himself into the top 10 in Indiana’s Class of 2024 rankings. The 6-foot-1, 180 pound righty has shown the ability to reach his fastball into the low 90s on multiple occasions, topping out at 91 mph. Sullivan has an athletic delivery with ultra quick arm speed and he can really spin the baseball. His fastball shows good ride through the zone and his tight, 80-82 mph slider has a chance to be a plus pitch with advanced spin metrics (2500+ RPM). Sullivan has starter potential at the next level, showing a true three-pitch mix with his diving, 83-85 mph changeup. 

 

Hunter Snow / OF / Carmel HS / Baylor Commit
Snow had a breakout sophomore campaign, leading to his verbal commitment to Baylor University in early October. At 6-foot-2, 175 pounds, Snow has considerable projection and could blossom into a legitimate middle of the order bat at the next level. A 6.97 runner, Snow’s left-handed swing is smooth and athletic and promises much more power to come. 

 

Top Uncommitted Prospects

Adam Buczkowski / RHP / Carmel HS
The top uncommitted arm available in the class. Buczkowski had a big showing at the PBR Future Games in July and continued to show strides in the fall. Buczkowski has a projectable, high-waisted, 6-foot-2, 180 pound frame with good athleticism. He sits in the mid-to-upper 80s with his fastball, touching 89 mph this fall. His slider is a potential plus pitch, showing sharp movement in the upper 70s to low 80s with advanced spin metrics (2500+ RPM) and he has a developing, 79-81 mph changeup. Buczkowski can also drop down from a sidearm slot, sitting 81-83 mph on his fastball with a more side-to-side shaped slider. 

 

Cole Decker / OF / Evansville North HS
An athletic, left-handed hitting outfielder, Decker had a good showing for Team Indiana at the PBR Future Games and continued to show his knack for the barrel this fall. The 5-foot-11, 170 pounder has a short, quick stroke from the left side and is starting to tap into some of his power potential. A 6.63 runner, Decker fits the mold as a top-of-the-lineup type bat at the next level. Decker’s speed allows him to cover ground in the outfield and he has above average arm strength (85 OF Velo) to go along with it. 

 

Max Winders / RHP / Carmel HS
Winders is an arm that continues to trend in the right direction. An imposing, 6-foot-5, 210 pounder, Winders showed a jump in velocity this fall, touching 89 mph on his fastball. Winders shows good balance throughout his delivery with a clean, full arm swing. He possesses really solid pitchability, commanding a three-pitch mix, including a tight, mid-to-upper 70s slider and a 76-80 mph changeup that shows some fade. 

Nick Heitman / RHP/OF / Mt. Vernon HS
An intriguing two-way prospect, Heitman offers plenty of twitch and athleticism on both sides of the ball. As a pitcher, Heitman has a loose, quick arm with a fastball that sits 86-88 T 90 mph and an athletic, 6-foot-3, 180lb frame that suggests more velocity is on the way. Heitman’s best offspeed offering is a sharp, 77-80 mph slider. As a position player, Heitman is a good runner (6.80 60) with advanced arm strength (91 OF Velo) and possesses pull side power potential. 

 

Ty Brooks / RHP / Wawasee HS
Brooks was dominant in his outing at this year’s Indiana Fall State Games. The athletic, 6-foot, 165 pounder sat 83-87 T 88 mph on his fastball with quick arm speed. Brooks showed two distinct breaking balls, an 11/5 CB at 70-74 mph that he could land, and a 75-77 mph SL that he used as an out pitch. His velo has continued to improve every time we have seen him in 2022, paired with advanced athleticism on the mound, Brooks will be a very solid addition to a program’s 2024 recruiting class. 

 

Riser Quick Hits

An Evansville recruit, LHP Coen Evrard (Floyd Central HS) continues to trend in the right direction. The lanky, 6-foot-1, 180 pound southpaw has a loose, clean arm from a high ¾ slot and sits 84-86 T 87 mph on his fastball, with good run to his arm side. He pairs the fastball with a tight, 74-77 mph slider (2300-2600 spin) that is a wipeout pitch when he is able to release it out front.

RHP Michael Fliss (North Central HS)  had a breakout fall, showing a major tick up in velocity, sitting 82-86 touching 88 mph multiple times on his fastball. The long, lanky 6-foot-5, 195 pounder has a quick, efficient delivery with a loose, ¾ arm slot. Fliss showed an 11/5, 67-70 mph CB (2400+ spin) with really good shape. 

A new add to the 2024 rankings is RHP Paddy Keefer (Mishawaka Marian HS). The high-waisted, 6-foot, 180 pounder has legitimate feel for a three pitch-mix, highlighted by an advanced, fading 73-75 mph changeup. Keefer sits 83-86 T 87 mph on his fastball and shows a big, 11/5 CB at 65-68 mph. Keefer’s frame paired with loose, whippy arm action suggests that he still has more velo left in the tank. 

Next, a pair of position players that made solid jumps in this update are SS Miguel Correa Jr. (Avon HS) and OF/1B Carter Hall (Park Tudor HS). 

Correa is a gamer that has hit in multiple looks throughout 2022. An athletic, 5-foot-9, 175 pounder, Correa has tons of feel to hit with efficient movement patterns in the box and advanced bat speed. In the infield, Correa has quick feet and soft hands, profiling best as an offensive oriented 2B at the next level. 

Carter Hall was a major standout from the Canes Scout Weekend, where he impressed with his powerful right-handed swing. The strong, 6-foot-2, 195 pounder had multiple XBH’s on the weekend, showing the ability to hit for power to all parts of the field. Hall uses a toe-tap stride, stays behind the ball, and has efficient rotational movements. He also showed good arm strength in the showcase portion, producing an 87 mph OF velocity and 85 mph INF velocity.

A trio of physically imposing righties round out our highlights of risers from this update. RHP Tommy Harringer (Mishawaka HS), RHP Kyle Sams (Union County HS), and RHP Carter Orner (Plainfield HS) are all risers in this update who are primed to have breakout junior campaigns. 

Harringer is an imposing, 6-foot-4, 230 pounder that sat 84-88 T 89 mph on his fastball at the Indiana Fall State Games. The strong-armed righty is confident in attacking the zone with his fastball, but also has feel for a big, 11/5 curveball at 70-73 mph. 

Sams has a long, projectable build at 6-foot-4, 220 pounds. In a look this fall, he sat 84-86 mph on his fastball with good ride (2300-2400 RPM) and commanded the fastball to both sides of the plate. He also showed a short, tight 71-73 mph slider. He uses a drop-and-drive delivery with a clean arm swing, pitching from a high ¾ arm slot. 

Orner is a projectable, 6-foot-6, 200 pounder that touched 86 mph on his fastball this fall. He pitches from an over-the-top arm slot, allowing good downward action on the fastball. His best offspeed pitch is his diving, 71-73 mph splitter that he uses as an out pitch. Orner has a developing, 66-67 mph breaking ball that showed 12/6 action.
