The long, seemingly endless 2018 baseball season has come to an end. For many, It started way back at the turn of the year, and did not end until late last month in Jupiter. This provides us with a natural point in time to reassess the Class of 2019.

PBR Florida has spent an abundant amount of time seeing the Class of 2019. Over the course of four years, thousands of prospects from this class have been seen in Florida. And with so many talented prospects travelling out-of-state to play, PBR’s eyes across the country have seen them and reported back.

At this point, our background and knowledge of this class is unparalleled. Which in turn, provides you with the most comprehensive rankings possible.

Let’s start at the top where we have arguably the top two prep arms in the entire country in RHP Brennan Malone (IMG Academy; North Carolina commit) and LHP Hunter Barco (Bolles Academy; Florida commit). Malone, a recent transplant from North Carolina, had one of the most impressive summer and fall showings out of any prospect on the national circuit. The physical 6-foot-4, 210-pounder was up to 97 mph at-times with his fastball and can complement that with a tight slider that plays in the low 80s.

Barco has been impressive in his own right. The tall, lanky 6-foot-4, 210-pound Barco has always been a challenge for hitters, with his fastball and slider combination from a ¾ slot. We were unable to get a look at Barco this fall as he was shut down, but given the previous results and the highly projectable frame, he holds on strong to the No. 2 spot in state.

The next four spots in the top-10 belong to some of the most dangerous prep bats across the entire country. OF/1B Riley Greene (Hagerty; Florida commit) and INF Tyler Callihan (Providence; South Carolina commit) possess a similar trait, they just hit. In every setting this summer and fall, Greene and Callihan went out and hit every type of pitching they saw. They both did it in somewhat different fashions too. Greene has some of the top raw power to the pull-side in the class and does it all with an easy effort swing. On the other hand, Callihan relies on his natural athleticism, going gap-to-gap. In fact, Callihan saw his stock rise the most out of any prospect in the top-10 this fall, not only because of his bat but because of the potential for him to get behind the dish and play catcher. Something he did for two innings at the Florida Diamond Club Showcase.

Riley Greene (10/14/18)

Rounding out the top-5 is 3B/OF Rece Hinds (IMG Academy; LSU commit). Hinds is one of the most physically impressive prospects in Florida at 6-foot-3, 195-pounds Long has Hinds been known as one of of the top power bats in the 2019 class and he did nothing but solidify his position this summer and fall. The consistent nature in which Hinds puts the ball in play with hard contact is impressive to say the least, and he is only now starting to tap into his plus power potential.

OF Judson Fabian (Trinity Catholic; Florida commit) comes in at No. 6 in what is most likely the last rankings he will appear in. Fabian has made the decision to enroll at Florida for the upcoming spring semester. The uber-athletic outfielder will look to make an immediate contribution for the Gators.

Judson Fabian (6/13/18)

Some familiar names finish out our top-10. RHP Matt Allan (Seminole; Florida commit) as been a staple in the top-10 for two years now and for good reason. The 6-foot-2, 225-pound right-hander was up to 94 mph this summer. There is no reason to think there is not more in the tank given he works with a loose arm action and a mechanically clean delivery.

Stuck on the outside looking in for two years, SS Connor Walsh (Niceville; Mississippi commit) breaks through into the top-10 at No. 8. The quick-twitch, speedy middle infielder stands 6-foot-2, 185-pounds and has seen his stock trend upwards all fall. His combination of tools make him one of the top pure athletes in the entire 2019 class.

Connor Walsh (10/14/18)

Closing out the top-10 are two right-handed pitchers. At No.9 is the 6-foot-6, 180-pound Kendall Williams (IMG Academy; Vanderbilt commit) who, as you can imagine, has a frame you can dream on. Williams was up to 94 this summer and has one of the highest ceilings in the class. At No. 10 is Brandon Walker (North Florida Christian; Florida State commit). Walked has electric stuff at-times with an overall athletic build. The fastball has been up to 96 mph and flashes a wipeout, power slider.
