PBR: Tell us all about your recruitment process, when it started, and why you decided to commit to SUNY Oswego?
Van Fossen: My number one priority going into the winter is getting stronger. I need to put consistent hours in the weight room to strengthen my body.Van Fossen: My recruitment process started at the end of my sophomore year of high school. I was contacted by multiple coaches throughout the year based on my performances at the PBR events that I attended. These events helped my variety of options significantly by exposing my talents out to the wide variety of schools in attendance. I decided to commit to SUNY Oswego because I felt that it was the right fit for me academically, and provided the best opportunity to play at a high level of baseball.
PBR: Looking at your skillset on the baseball field, what would you say your biggest strength at the next-level will be?
Van Fossen: My biggest strength at the next level will be my work ethic and locating my pitches. Locating the baseball up and down, painting the corners is something I have worked on that has benefitted myself as a pitcher. Mixing my pitches up has helped myself be successful as well.
PBR: What’s your No. 1 priority going into the Winter in terms of getting prepared for next spring?
PBR: Who is your biggest influence when it comes to playing the game of baseball?
Van Fossen: My biggest influence in terms of playing the game of baseball is my grandpa George Ottaviani. He has been by my side, my coach, baseball mentor, you name it and he has done what it takes for me to be a successful baseball player.
PBR: Prep Baseball Report’s No. 1 goal is to provide players with an unrivaled platform filled with next-level exposure through events and multi-media avenues. What’s your experience been with us?
Van Fossen: My experience with PBR has been outstanding. I cannot say thank you enough for extending the invitations to expose my talents in front of the multiple coaches that have been in contact with me for quite some time. Without these events, it would have been more difficult to attract the eyes of college coaches. Thank you very much for helping my baseball journey in committing to a great university with a great academic and baseball program. Thank you again PBR!
