An extended period of evaluation was warranted for the 2026 class and Prep Baseball Report was got its chance to take stock of this group thoroughly along the winter's Preseason ID circuit, and eventually through the spring high school season, which is winding down nationwide now. As a result, the overall rankings for this graduating freshman group has expanded to a list of 300 players. Yes, there are sure to be more talented players discovered while others continue to make advancements, and it is PBR’s privilege to continue providing the most credible, up-to-date information in the amateur baseball space.

No change was made at the top as a pair of dynamic position players, No. 1 SS Alex Harrington (Cathedral Catholic HS, CA), a Stanford recruit, and No. 2 C/IF Rookie Shepard (Faith Lutheran HS, NV), a Miami recruit, continues to pace the class. Both enjoyed strong varsity seasons where the present excitement is only outpaced by the future projections.

The top 10’s biggest risers hail from the Sunshine State as position players, SS Jacob Lombard (Gulliver Prep, FL) and OF Brady Harris (Trinity Christian Academy, FL), a Florida recruit, rise to Nos. 3 and 6 respectively. Lombard’s crisp attention to detail pairs well with elite athleticism to stick at shortstop along with a quick right-handed stroke that promises exciting power upside. Harris, a fluid athlete with dynamic athleticism is already building a reputation as a game-changing type of player in the class. Both were impact varsity players, along with fellow top-10 Florida native No. 88 RHP Wilson Anderson (Jesuit HS, FL), and have the state primed to reload yet again.

While much of the Top 10 is centered around position players, the arms in the class are plentiful with numerous poised to make jumps in the near future. Making the biggest jumps into the top 20, No. 16 RHP Matthew Sharman (Etowah HS, GA) and No. 17 RHP Hudson DeVaughan (Mooresville HS, IN) look the part as potential frontline arms in the future. Sharman’s wiry-athletic, projectable frame allows him to move fluidly down the mound with a loose whip to the arm action. Pitching with intent with a full arsenal, his best days are clearly ahead of him. At 6-foot-3, 175-pounds, there is still plenty to dream on for DeVaughan, but his present arm strength and aptitude for spin already stand out as elite. Up to 92 mph with 2,500-plus rpm, the right-hander counters with advanced feel for two swing-and-miss breaking balls. His explosive stuff should see steady gains in coming years.
