2021 FL ProCase: Team Red Analysis

The 2021 PBR Florida ProCase took place Wednesday, June 2nd at IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL. The event featured some of the top 2021-2022 prospects in the state participating in a pro-style workout followed by gameplay in front of the PBR Florida Scouting Staff. The event was broken down into two sessions with Team Black and Team Blue in session 1. Team Red and Team Grey were apart of session 2.

Team Red Analysis
Danny Baez SS / 2B / Oviedo, FL / 2022Rankings StateRank: 139 / POS: 30
6-foot-1, 185-pound solid frame. Confident during batting practice, Baez recorded an exit velocity of 92 mph. Started in a balanced quiet stance with a controlled compact load, then used a small leg kick. Had quick bat speed, short uphill swing plane and high finish. Found multiple barrels with loud contacts. Pull side approach. Fluid in the infield, his position velocity was registered at 83 mph; has rhythmic fluid feet, sure consistent hands, and a packing clean exchange. Movements laterally were athletic and he fields the ball out front. Consistent accuracy to the bases, used a ¾ slot with a compact arm action. Showed his athleticism during the event with a sub-seven 60 time of 6.82. |
Derek Bermudez 3B / OF / West Broward, FL / 2022North Carolina State Commit, 6-foot, 200-pound solid mature frame. Capable in the box, Bermudez's best exit velocity was 93 mph. Starts in a balanced active stance with a quick tight load, then uses a small leg kick. Bat speed is efficient, has a level simple swing plane and high finish. Found multiple barrels with a lot of loud contacts. Line drive approach. Solid in the infield, his position velocity was registered at 81 mph; showed raw sure hands, choppy feet, and a natural packing exchange. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were raw. Consistent accuracy to the bases, used a high ¾ slot and a short arm action. |
Jameson Caro OF / Miami Christian , FL / 2022Florida International Commit, 6-foot-1, 198-pound physical lean frame. Above average in the box, the right-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 101 mph. Begins in a balanced wide stance with a controlled compact load, then uses a big leg kick. Has a loose simple swing plane, explosive bat speed and good extension on his finish. Found multiple barrels with a lot of loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Athletic from the outfield, he showed above average arm strength by making throws to the infield at velocities up to 90 mph. Had soft consistent hands, a clean fluid exchange, and choppy consistent footwork. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were quick. Used an-over-the-top slot and a longer arm action while showing consistent accuracy to the bag. Recorded a 60 time of 7.05 at the event. |
Miles Curley OF / 3B / Calvary Christian, FL / 2022East Carolina Commit, 6-foot-1, 205-pound solid physical frame. Solid at the plate, Curley's 102 mph exit velocity ranks him 2nd at the event. Starts in a tall balanced stance with a smooth controlled load, then uses a leg kick. Has a simple uphill swing plane, explosive bat speed and high finish. He found lots of barrels with loud contact. Fly ball approach. Capable in the outfield, he used momentum and arm strength to record throws up to 89 mph. Had sure hands, a natural exchange, and consistent footwork. Movements laterally were average and he fields the ball out front. Decent accuracy to the bases, used a high ¾ slot and a compact arm action. In the 60-yard dash, recorded a time of 7.08. |

Jacksonville Commit, 5-foot-11, 140-pound athletic lean frame. Athletic during batting practice, the left-handed hitter's best exit velocity was 96 mph. Began in a wide athletic stance with a small tight load, then used a toe tap. Has above average bat speed, loose level swing plane and good extension on his finish. Found lots of barrels with a lot of loud contact. Line drive approach. Fluid in the outfield, he showed the ability to make throws to the bases at 85 mph; showed soft sure hands, a quick clean exchange, and rhythmic consistent feet. Movements laterally were quick and he fields the ball out front. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used a high ¾ slot and a loose arm action. Clocked a 60 time of 7.29 at the event. |
Ryan Fry RHP / 3B / Wharton , FL / 2022Miami Commit, 6-foot-3, 195-pound long solid frame. Fluid on the mound, had a high ¾ arm angle and a quick arm action with above average arm speed. Drop-and-drive type pitcher and shows decent effort. Displays in line shoulders and a strong balance point. Lands square with a recoil finish. Produced a fastball that came in at 88-90 mph with a max of 91 mph; had consistent command and slight running action with hard movement. Throws a sharp curveball (73-75) that has gradual action and arm side command. Showed command low in the zone and fading action on his changeup (80-81). Has a 10/4 slider (77-79) that showed glove side control and tight action. |
Dean Guzman C / OF / West Broward, FL / 2022Rankings StateRank: 89 / POS: 10
Stetson Commit, 5-foot-9, 165-pound athletic frame. Capable in the box, Guzman had a max exit velocity of 94 mph. Begins in a crouched open stance with a quick load, then uses a small leg kick. Has quick bat speed, simple level swing plane and good extension on his finish. Found lots of barrels with loud contact. Tough out approach. Projectable in the outfield, his throws to the bases were maxed out at 87 mph; had rhythmic footwork, a lengthy exchange, and consistent hands. Laterally, movements were quick and fielded the ball to the side. While catching, throw downs to second were maxed at 77 mph; had a quick clean exchange, twitchy hands, and smooth consistent footwork. had quick feet and transfers on his throw downs, recording a 1.97-2.07 pop time. Staggered setup with average flexibility. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used a compact arm action and an-over-the-top slot. Showed his athleticism during the event with a sub-seven 60 time of 6.88. |
Fulton Lockhart RHP / 3B / Newsome, FL / 2022South Florida Commit, 6-foot-4, 188-pound mature long frame. Confident on the mound, showed quick arm speed with a loose arm action and a high ¾ arm angle. Tall-and-fall type pitcher who shows high effort. Balance point is tall with an even shoulders during delivery. Lands soft with a clean finish. Produced a fastball that came in at 89-92 mph with a max of 93 mph; has consistent control and hard action. Throws a 11/5 curveball (73-76) with control low in the zone and swing and miss action. Throws a heavy changeup (78-81) that has gradual action and arm side control. |
Hunter Miller 3B / C / Fort Pierce Central, FL / 2022Rankings StateRank: 271 / POS: 22
5-foot-11, 160-pound long lean frame. Athletic during batting practice, the left-handed hitter recorded an exit velocity of 92 mph. Starts in a tall stance with a slow load, then uses a long stride. Had explosive bat speed, short loose swing plane and good extension on his finish. Had a lot of loud contact during the round. Aggressive approach. Behind the plate, his best throw downs of the day reached a max velocity of 73 mph; shows consistent feet, developing hands, and a packing exchange. recorded pop times of 2.25-2.30. Staggered setup with some flexibility. Used a high ¾ slot with a longer arm action while showing consistent accuracy to the bag. Recorded a 60 time of 7.45 at the event. |

Pittsburgh Commit, 6-foot-2, 235-pound mature sturdy frame. Confident on the mound, showing good arm speed he used a ¾ arm angle and a short arm action. Drop-and-drive type pitcher and uses decent effort. Showed low balance point with downhill shoulders. Lands open with a clean finish. Sat with his fastball at 88-90 mph; had slight running action and command around the zone with sharp movement. He shows fading action and in the zone command on his heavy changeup (83-85). Threw a 11/5 slider (75-80) with control around the zone and late action. |

Florida Gulf Coast Commit, 6-foot-1, 160-pound lean proportional frame. Athletic during batting practice, the right-handed hitter's best exit velocity was 93 mph. Starts in a balanced crouched stance with a compact small load, then uses a quick stride. Has quick bat speed, short flat swing plane and good extension on his finish. Found lots of barrels with loud contact. Aggressive approach. Advanced in the infield, had a live arm with throws that topped out at 86 mph; has a packing natural exchange, soft consistent hands, and smooth rhythmic feet. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. From a ¾ slot, showed consistent accuracy to the base with a loose arm action. Showed his athleticism during the event with a sub-seven 60 time of 6.96. |
Bryant Zayas SS / 2B / Miami Christian, FL / 2022North Carolina State Commit, 6-foot, 175-pound athletic solid frame. Fluid at the plate, Zayas recorded an exit velocity of 96 mph. Begins in a balanced athletic stance with a controlled tight load, then uses a short stride. Has above average bat speed, uphill loose swing plane and high finish. He barreled up multiple balls with loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Advanced in the infield, showed his live arm in the infield with position velocities up to 93 mph; has a clean quick exchange, next level hands, and athletic rhythmic feet. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were twitchy. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used a very quick arm action with a ¾ slot. Showed off his speed at the event, running a swift 6.62 60-yard dash. |
