North Carolina State Commit, 6-foot, 175-pound athletic solid frame. Fluid at the plate, Zayas recorded an exit velocity of 96 mph. Begins in a balanced athletic stance with a controlled tight load, then uses a short stride. Has above average bat speed, uphill loose swing plane and high finish. He barreled up multiple balls with loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Advanced in the infield, showed his live arm in the infield with position velocities up to 93 mph; has a clean quick exchange, next level hands, and athletic rhythmic feet. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were twitchy. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used a very quick arm action with a ¾ slot. Showed off his speed at the event, running a swift 6.62 60-yard dash.
10/17/20
Positional Profile: SS/2B - NC State Body: 6-foot, 175-pounds. Athletic, twitch, strong especially in the lower half. Defense: Twitchy athlete with high ceiling as a middle infielder. Athletic actions, quick first step, rhythm to and through the ball. Can be almost too quick at times, but very twitchy and athletic with a high ceiling. Arm: RH. INF - 87 mph. Above average arm with carry. Hit: RHH. Upright, slightly narrow and leg kick trigger with short, simple load. Upper half adjusts and positions well. Really trusts very quick hands, can get in and out of zone at times quickly, but the above average hand/eye makes up for it as he shows elite level bat speed with strength and overall high ceiling athletic offensive profile. Power: 97 mph exit velocity. Extremely quick hands. Can get out of the zone quick at times, but when he worked through the ball, it jumps off of the bat. The bat speed and talent in his hands are undeniable. He can continue to access the strength in the lower half and overall has a lot of present tools with even more upside. Run: 6.59 runner in the 60. Twitchy, quick first step.
10/20/18 - Currently stands at 5-foot-10, 150 pounds on a lean, athletic frame with plenty of room to fill out and strengthen his frame. High level athlete. Zayas immediately stands out in the middle infield where he shows advanced defensive actions, quick feet, and a natural feel for the position. Fields the ball with ease and has a quick release, getting rid of the ball quickly out of his glove. Offensively, he shows present above average bat speed and the ability to drive the ball into the gaps. Expect to see a jump in power as well as he strengthens and matures. Very exciting prospect who will be one of the top follows in his class.
08/25/18- One of the most impressive young performances to date. Still not 100% on whether he is a 2022 or 2023, but either way equally impressive. He ran a best 6.84 60 and that athleticism plays in the game. He is light on his feet at short, works under control with rhythm and all around above average to plus defensive potential. Offensively, he stands tall, trusts his quick hands, has above average bat speed that generates strength and power, especially for his class. Has the makings of a five tool type player in the future.
