WV Top Prospect Games Analysis: White Team

The summer rush of PBR events in Pennsylvania and West Virginia came to a close with the 2nd Annual WV Top Prospect Games on August 8 and 9. Prospects from four states assembled at the YMCA Kennedy Center Field in Huntington, WV for two days of nine inning games and showcase activities. Today we complete our analysis of the prospects in attendance by taking a look at the prospects that participated as a member of the White Team.

Matt JewellMatt Jewell, C/OF, (Nitro HS, WV), Class of 2016

Jewell, a recent Wright State commit, flashed pop times of 1.98-2.05 on throws of 77 mph from the crouch. The 6-foot, 195-pound backstop looks ready to play at the next level defensively right now. Offensively, Jewell showcased a 78 mph bat exit velocity from a slightly open stance. The right-handed hitter displayed a strong lower half and a short stride with a tendency to drop the barrel to the hitting zone. Jewell went 2-for-4 at the plate on day two of the event including a double that was laced to the left-center field wall. Jewell showed his athleticism by running a solid 7.25 60-yard dash and demonstrated a follow-me personality on the diamond.

Fargo Camerlengo, MIF, (Brooke HS, WV), Class of 2016

Camerlengo is a 6-foot-1, 160-pound right-handed hitter that starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a short, lift-and-replace stride. The uncommitted senior displayed the ability to stay inside the baseball routinely with a bat exit velocity of 82 mph. Camerlengo showed a strong glove hand and the ability to play through the baseball defensively with an accurate 78 mph arm across the diamond. His 7.01 foot speed and solid range demonstrated in game action should enable him to remain on the left side of the infield at the next level.

Brent Carter, OF/C, (Cabell Midland HS, WV), Class of 2018

Carter showcased pop times of 2.19-2.26 on throws of 71 mph from the crouch. The 5-foot-11, 140-pound OF/C ran a 7.72 60-yard dash and went 2-for-7 at the plate in game action. The right-handed hits from a wide, square stance with no stride. Carter showcased a 75 mph bat exit velocity and should benefit moving forward from physical maturity and strength gains.

Adam Cisney, OF, (Peters Township HS, PA), Class of 2016

Cisney displayed the ability to stay behind the baseball well during a solid round of batting practice. The 6-foot-1, 160-pound right-handed hitter starts from an open stance and utilizes a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Cisney showcased an 85 mph bat exit velocity and flashed some power potential on an in-game triple to the left-center field gap. The uncommitted senior displayed athletic actions defensively with an accurate 84 mph arm and above average foot speed (6.85 60-yard dash).

Tyler Crank, 3B/LHP, (Cabell Midland, WV), Class of 2018

Crank showcased an 80 mph bat exit velocity from a square stance with a short, lift-and-replace stride. The 6-foot, 160-pound right-handed hitter went 2-for-6 with two RBI in game action. The sophomore's hands work well and a quiet lower half allows him to be consistently on time to the hitting zone. Crank ran a 7.32 60-yard dash and displayed an accurate 72 mph arm across the diamond. 

Corey Fogle, 3B/RHP, (Connellsville HS, PA), Class of 2016

Fogle went 4-for-6 in game action and flashed an event best 92 mph bat exit velocity. The 6-foot, 210-pound right-handed hitter hits from a slightly open stance and initiates his swing with a short stride. A strong lower half and the ability to use all fields should allow Fogle to hit for average at the next level. The uncommitted senior showed solid feet and an accurate 77 mph arm across the diamond while running a 7.55 60-yard dash.

Bryce Grenet, RHP, (Pine-Richland HS, PA), Class of 2018

Grenet sat 80-81 from a high 3/4 arm slot with solid command of a 73 mph changeup and a 65 mph curveball with 11/5 rotation. The 5-foot-9, 175-pound right-hander has some hip coil to his delivery that leads to some arm-side run on his fastball and he pounds the strike zone. His changeup is thrown at fastball arm speed and Grenet shows full confidence in the pitch. He worked three innings allowing one run on three hits while inducing five ground outs.

Alex Hundiak, 1B/C, (Pittsburgh Central Catholic HS, PA), Class of 2016

Hundiak showcased pop times of 2.23-2.31 on throws of 70 mph from the crouch. The 6-foot, 225-pound 1B/C ran a 7.40 60-yard dash and flashed an 84 mph bat exit velocity. Hundiak starts from a slightly open stance and utilizes a leg lift stride to initiate his swing. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI on day two of the event. 

Robby Korff, C/3B, (Woodland Hills HS, PA), Class of 2017

Korff showed a well-rounded skill set running a 7.12 60-yard dash and flashing an 89 mph bat exit velocity. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound backstop showcased pop times of 1.98-2.06 on throws of 73 mph out of the crouch. Korff starts his right-handed swing from a slightly open stance and utilizes a leg lift stride to initiate his swing. The sophomore went 2-for-6 at the plate in game action with a triple and a run scored.

J.P. Pellis, LHP, (Greensburg Central Catholic HS, PA), Class of 2016

Pellis sat 74-76 from a high 3/4 arm slot during three scoreless innings of work. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound lefty also displayed a 72 mph changeup and a 60 mph curveball with 1/7 rotation. Pellis registered two strikeouts and allowed just one hit in facing one batter over the minimum. The uncommitted senior has a projectable frame and repeatable mechanics that will likely lead to additional velocity moving forward.

Zac Sacripanti, OF, (Brooke HS, WV), Class of 2017

Sacripanti is a 5-foot-10, 135-pound left handed hitter that starts from a square stance and utilizes a heel raise stride to initiate a direct swing with a bat exit velocity of 74 mph. The junior ran a solid 7.02 60-yard dash and showcased an accurate 78 mph arm from the outfield. Sacripanti will benefit from continued physical maturation and strength gains in future years.

Noah Short, RHP/MIF, (Winfield HS, WV), Class of 2018

Short sat 76-79 while topping at 80 mph from a high 3/4 arm slot. The 5-foot-11, 150-pound two-way prospect also displayed a 66 mph curveball with 11/5 rotation during three innings of work, allowing two runs. Short ran a 7.78 60-yard dash and showcased an 80 mph arm across the diamond. The right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and initiates his swing with a short lift-and-replace stride. Short stays inside the baseball consistently and displayed a bat exit velocity of 74 mph.

Logan Smith, LHP, (Bridgeport HS, WV), Class of 2016

Smith sat 79-81 from a high 3/4 arm slot with a hip coil delivery and some arm side run to his fastball. The 6-foot-4, 170-pound lefty also commanded a 73 mph changeup thrown at fastball arm speed and a 65 mph curveball with 1/7 rotation. Smith registered three strikeouts during his three innings of work while allowing four hits.

Cory Storm, RHP/MIF, (Hollidaysburg HS, PA), Class of 2017

Storm only participated on the first day of the event, but showcased a well-rounded skill set as a two-way prospect. The 5-foot-9, 170-pound right-handed hitter went 1-for-2 with an RBI and registered an 81 mph bat exit velocity. Storm ran a 6.89 60-yard dash and worked three strong innings on the mound allowing one run on two hits with three strikeouts. The right-hander sat 83-85 from a 3/4 arm slot and pounded the zone with his 75 mph slider.

Jake Trautman, 1B/OF, (Pittsburgh Central Catholic HS, PA), Class of 2017

Trautman continued to showcase legitimate home run power to the pull side with a bat exit velocity of 91 mph. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound left-handed hitter barreled the baseball repeatedly in batting practice from a square stance. Trautman continued to show his power stroke in games with two doubles, one of which slammed off the fence in right-center field. The junior ran a solid 7.28 60-yard dash and showed capable actions at first base with an accurate 70 mph arm across the diamond.
