Team Pennsylvania Future Games Spotilght: Infielders

By Greg Williams

Pennsylvania Director of Scouting

On July 30th through August 1st, PBR Pennsylvania will take a select team of players in the Classes of 2017 and 2018 to represent Pennsylvania at the PBR Future Games in Indianapolis at Grand Park.

Players receive exposure unlike any other event for underclassmen. Last year, 100+ colleges from all over the country were in attendance, including coaches from every Division I power conference in the country. Only players who have a legitimate shot at being a Division I recruit and who have an interest in the possibility of making a verbal commitment during their sophomore or junior seasons have been considered.

Team Pennsylvania Spotlight: liam bendo, ss/2B

Liam BendoName: Liam Bendo
Position: SS/2B
Class: 2017
State Ranking: 11
Height/Weight: 5-foot-11, 165-pounds
High School: Garnet Valley
Summer Team(s): Philly Bandits

Most Recent Showcase/In-Game Performance:
Date: 7/20/14

Scouting Report:
Bendo shined in game play showing the skill set that has him ranked No. 5 in the initial PA Class of 2017 rankings. The left-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and uses a toe tap load with a strong lower half to create barrel whip. Bendo went 4-for-11 in game play while hitting a number of other balls on the nose. The sophomore ran a 7.22 60-yard dash flashed an above average 82 mph arm across the infield. Bendo showed good feet defensively while consistently playing through the baseball.

Team Pennsylvania Future Games Spotlight: bryce cunningham, IF/RHP

Bryce CunninghamName: Bryce Cunningham
Position: IF/RHP
Class: 2018
Height/Weight: 5-foot-11, 170-pounds
High School: Springside Chestnut Hill Academy
Summer Team(s): Tri-State Arsenal

Pitching Rotation: Game #1 (8/1) - Inning 7

Most Recent Showcase/In-Game Performance:
Date: 2/5/15

Scouting Report:
Cunningham appears more physically mature than his 5-foot-11, 170-pound listing suggests. At the plate, the right-handed hitter starts with a open stance and strides to square. He hangs in the air with his stride, occasionally causing him to be late getting his foot down. However, when he's on time and his hands don't leak forward, his bat speed (92-mph exit velo) and strength have the ball jumping off his barrel. While his physical development will likely determine whether or not he outgrows shortstop and has to make the move over to the hot corner, Cunningham moves well and shows good hands in the field, while already having enough arm (85-mph) to play on the left side. He also ran a 7.26 60-yard dash.

Team Pennsylvania Spotlight: kris kremer, ss/of

Kris KremerName: Kris Kremer
Position: SS/OF
Class: 2018
State Ranking: 27
Height/Weight: 5-foot-9, 150-pounds
High School: Hershey
Summer Team(s): Harrisburg Jr. Senators

Most Recent Showcase/In-Game Performance:
Date:
 6/7/15

Scouting Report:
5-foot-9, 140-pound right-handed hitter. Started from slightly open stance and took a knee-to-knee stride to square. Attacked ball, kept head still, hands worked, flashed some bat speed. Posted in-game 4.25 and 4.30 home-to-1B times. Is wiry strong already and offensive game could take off with additional strength. Showcased 88-mph exit velocity and 86-mph arm strength during workout. Best defensive skillset among the cohort at this event. Athletic actions with loose, whippy, quick arm and trusts his glovehand.

Team Pennsylvania Spotlight: Peter Vaccaro, ss/2B

Pete VaccaroName: Pete Vaccaro
Position: SS/2B
Class: 2017
State Ranking: 25
Height/Weight: 5-foot-9, 175-pounds
High School: Oley Valley
Summer Team(s): Grand Slam Bluerocks

Most Recent Showcase/In-Game Performance:
Date:
 6/25/14

Scouting Report:
Vaccaro ran a 7.35 60-yard dash and registered an impressive 87 mph bat exit velocity from the left side of the plate. The 5-foot-8, 165-pound sophomore stays behind the baseball well with an explosive lower half. He went 1-for-3 with a double to the opposite field on day one in game action. Vaccaro displayed athletic actions and a soft glove hand defensively with a 77 mph arm across the diamond.

Additional infield prospects
