Hershey sophomore Jack Goulet and Palmyra freshman Brian Coburn matched each other pitch for pitch for much of the evening with Coburn getting the upper hand in the end.
Palmyra broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the 4th inning when Jacob Roe (right) doubled to lead off the inning, moved to third on a single by Sam Zeigler and scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Braden Vernet.
The Cougars extended their lead to 3-0 an inning later on a pair of singles and a pair of Hershey errors.
Coburn took a shutout into the 7th inning before yielding three consecutive one out singles. The freshman recorded his second win over Hershey this season moving to 4-1 on the year. He allowed five hits and two runs while striking out three on just 65 pitches in 6.1 innings. Coburn has allowed just 3 runs over 22.2 innings of work for the season (0.97 ERA) and has struck out 17 batters while walking just two. Vernet entered with one out in the 7th to earn the save.
