OR Top Prospect Showcase - 2022 Prospects (pt. 1)
August 16, 2020
Keizer, OR - Over the course of one full week, we had the opportunity to see over 100 players across multiple events at Volcanoes Stadium in Keizer.
Summer events events such as this provide players with the opportunity to build their profile with the most up-to-date information and video footage. All players in attendance receive an online profile with their verified statistics, player report, picture and video. Additionally, all subsequent stories written about a prospect will be linked to the player’s profile, ultimately creating a one-stop shop for recruiters.
Showcases help identify which prospects have asserted themselves towards the top of their class as well as who might be one of the next youngsters to emerge onto the scene. They also serve as potential identifiers for invite-only events such as our Future Games and Junior Future Games
For a full statistical release of the events, check out the following links.
We continue our coverage of the summer with a look at some of the uncommitted 2022 prospects we saw at our Oregon Top Prospect Showcases

2022 prospects (pt. 1)
Rochne Beecham OF / 1B / Wilsonville, OR / 2022Beecham built on a strong initial showing back in February by flashing impressive straight line speed in the 60 and continued to show a quick barrel from the left side. Averaged 18.4g of rotational acceleration during his BP session, showing off his athleticism and the ability to create bat speed easily. Transitioned from a low leg lift into a toe-tap type load that keeps him tall and upright throughout. Continues to show best contact middle/oppo but did flash occasional pull-side pop. Also excels on the gridiron and his footspeed should play well in the OF. Can lengthen out strides as needed but also has ability to shorten up and breakdown with his footwork while approaching the ball. Consistent arm path from a low ¾ release |
Max Bledy 3B / C / Wilsonville, OR / 2022With noticeably more strength on his frame than this winter, Bledy had a well-rounded performance and improved on every metric that we previously saw 4 months ago. Solid athlete with a strong combination of speed, arm talent and power. Bledy can make an impact on the field in several ways. Defensively showed well at 3B and C. Could potentially find a permanent home at either spot. Feet work easily at the hot corner with solid body control throughout fielding process. At C, throws from a short, high ¾ release with consistent carry on his throws to second. Lowered his best pop time down to a 2.02. Offensively, made a slight adjustment in his set-up that helps him hit for more consistent power and leverage. Back leg is stronger and more upright with a shorter stride to create his forward move. Hands stay right around shoulder height with a subtle stretch back prior to initiating swing. Head stays quiet throughout and he holds balance thru contact. |
Harrison Brandell SS / 3B / Oregon City, OR / 2022Made positive strides over the course of the year in his overall athleticism and strength in his upper half. Reduced his 60 time while also making a big jump in exit velocity. In the box, the set-up is similar to our last look but with a bit of a wider base and a toned down leg kick. Upper half starts slightly coiled in towards back hip as hands stay in a loaded position just beyond his rear shoulder. Simple, contact approach at the plate with more lift on the ball than our previous look. Defensively the actions remain sound and consistent. Did a solid job of moving to get around the ball before working thru with his momentum. Hips sink down while receiving ball in. Keeps exchange high at chest height into a quick takeaway with bent arm action. Gets the ball out quick while in rhythm and throws from a low ¾ release. |
Henry Brauckmiller RHP / 3B / Oregon City, OR / 20226-foot, 170 pounds with lean strength in both his upper and lower half. Offensively, sets up in a wide, balanced stance with bend in his legs and upright posture. Barrel rests on back shoulder prior to leg kick. Hands stay low throughout and get into the zone quickly. Recorded an impressive peak bat speed of 76.8 mph during BP. Front side posts up at contact, allowing him to rotate into a high, lofted finish with leverage. Defensively, stays tall in his pre-pitch set-up then works down to the ball as it approaches. Possesses quality size/strength combination for corner INF. Uses a hip hinge while keeping some height in his lower half as he receives ball in. Full arm path with a high ¾ release. On the mound, works from the first base side of the rubber with slight cross action in his landing. Coils into back hip at leg lift with drop and drive type action in his lower half at hand break. Clean, continuous arm action as he gets to a high ¾ release. Aggressive finish out over his front side. Gets extension from his upper half and rotates out over lead leg while keeping eyes locked on target. Competed with a 3-pitch mix and flashed feel for finding the strike zone with all of his offerings. |
Joe Brauckmiller OF / RHP / Canby, OR / 20226-foot-3, 180 pounds with an athletic frame that still leaves from for projection. Ran well in the 60 on a thick grass track. Sets up in the box with a narrow, upright stance and lower half slightly open to the pitcher. Widens out his base and gets lower while using a toe-tap forward move to create separation. Hands stay below back shoulder throughout and create significant stretch against his front side. Has some raw athleticism that translates to impressive swing metrics. 74.4 mph peak bat speed and average rotational acceleration of 21.9g. Athleticism fits well in corner OF with his speed and ability to cover ground with his strides. Stays underneath the ball on opportunities in the air. Catches ball at highest peak and exchanges quickly into throwing motion. Shorter arm action for the OF, working from a high ¾ slot. On the mound, pitches with a deliberate, repeatable delivery. Stay tall at leg lift, with front knee getting above waist height. Maintains a level shoulder plane at hand break and into landing. Drop and drive delivery with considerable flexion on his back leg during stride. Compact takeaway with bent arm action that causes some deception at release. Arm works short early then gets long thru finish. Aggressive hand speed out front, ran the FB up to 83 on this look and showed the makings of both a quality CB and CH. |
Camden Christenson SS / 2B / Sherwood , OR / 2022Rankings StateRank: 13 / POS: 2
Lean athlete at 5-foot-9, 155 pounds. Christensen continues to display a balanced skill-set with a consistent all around game. At the plate, the actions remain relaxed and balanced throughout, allowing his hands to work easily and deliver a fluid, whippy barrel thru the zone. Sprayed the ball from gap to gap, showing a contact type approach. Never got too long or extended in his upper half, remained quick and compact. Also showed a jump in exit velo from what we saw in Feb. Defensively he remains a natural defender in the INF with solid actions and body control. Stays light on his feet moving to the ball with a soft glove hand. Minimal footwork during exchange into throwing motion. Short, compact arm action with extension as he finishes out front at release. Handles double play feeds easily while adjusting release as needed. |
