Made positive strides over the course of the year in his overall athleticism and strength in his upper half. Reduced his 60 time while also making a big jump in exit velocity. In the box, the set-up is similar to our last look but with a bit of a wider base and a toned down leg kick. Upper half starts slightly coiled in towards back hip as hands stay in a loaded position just beyond his rear shoulder. Simple, contact approach at the plate with more lift on the ball than our previous look. Defensively the actions remain sound and consistent. Did a solid job of moving to get around the ball before working thru with his momentum. Hips sink down while receiving ball in. Keeps exchange high at chest height into a quick takeaway with bent arm action. Gets the ball out quick while in rhythm and throws from a low ¾ release.
6/25/19
Tall, upright stance in the box. Feet square to the pitcher. Widens out into more athletic base after short, quick leg kick. Hands stay loaded near back shoulder. Uses minimal hand load to initiate swing. Works short, direct to the ball while keep barrel tight to body. High, one-handed finish thru contact. Feet stay active on defense with short, choppy lateral steps. Keeps ball centered, funneling into core before exchange. Short, compact arm action. Gets the ball out quickly. Releases from a low ¾ arm slot. Handled double-play feeds from both 3B & SS effectively. Overall, flashed control of a consistent glove hand from the left-side of the INF.
