Up And Upcoming Talent From The CDN Showcase
February 17, 2020
We would like to thank all who participated in PBR Ontario's 2020 Canadian College & University Showcase. This was a great opportunity for 2020-2022 prospects to be identified before season, create and update their profiles, as well see where they stack up with their peers. Many players impressed during their individual workouts at the showcase.
In the coming weeks, we will be adding and updating profiles for each of the players in attendance, including complete analysis and video.

2020 Canadian College & University Showcase - Up And Coming
Robbie Price C / OF / Woodland Christian, ON / 2022Report: Price, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound catcher for the Fieldhouse Pirates, is a 2022 grad who impressed at the Canadian College & University Showcase. It was a loud BP round from the right-side, while he maxed out at 85 mph at the exit velocity station. It’s a direct path towards the ball with some bat speed. It’s a frame that will fill out with power potential down the road. Behind the plate, he worked in the 2.01-2.10 range with arm strength, which topped out at 80 mph. It was a strong showing from Price, and the tools are present to build upon.

Jax Nyberg LHP / 1B / Archbishop Denis O'Connor, ON / 2022Report: 6-foot-4, 171-pound two-way guy, Nyberg stood out on the bump at the showcase. It’s a long, lean projectable frame to dream on, with athleticism to boot. His arm worked cleanly from a ¾ slot with some whip. He was 75-77, T79, mixing in a couple breaking balls in the mid-’60s. He showed some feel for a breaker with a sweeping action. It’s a high ceiling arm with lots of upside in the 2022 class.

Jackson Soucie 1B / LHP / St. Benedicts CSS, ON / 2022Report: Soucie, a large, 6-foot-3, 195-pound two-way guy, only showcased on the positional side on this day and showed out. It’s an aggressive left-handed swing with power potential. He was 89 mph off the tee. There is extension through the zone with a bat path that matches his offensive ability. He’ll have the chance to make a significant impact on the offensive side of the ball going forward. There is no doubting the ability on the mound, and he made it clear he can play on both sides. Must-watch player going forward.

Kyle Mucin RHP / 2B / St. Thomas Aquinas, ON / 2022Rankings StateRank: 28 / POS: 11
Report: Mucin has continued to get better since first seeing him at the EBLO Showcase a year ago. At the plate, he displayed a swing with some strength and pop, which has continued to be refined and improve. On the mound, he was 79-81 mph, showing some ability to spin it. Mucin is yet another two-way player with upside on both ends, however he profiles best on the mound currently.
