Amazingly, we have some real live baseball to talk about - that’s right, no projections, no “we hope to see”, no “looking forward to” or “when it gets warm enough”, its real live baseball in the flesh coming from the sunshine state in Florida where there are some Ontario players making a buzz.
To begin, we start with top ranked arm in the country in right-hander and Auburn commit Calvin Ziegler, who is down south playing with TNXL, a program out of Ocoee, FL.
This was Ziegler 2nd outing since being in Florida and his 1st start. Ziegler ended up working 3 innings without allowing a hit while the fastball worked between 91-95 mph and stayed around the bottom of the zone and getting swing and misses on the fastball.

Ability to locate FB at bottom of the zone w/ heavy action getting swing/miss. Stays on top of baseball/drives through target

Both his curveball and changeup worked in the low 80’s and Ziegler punched out 4 in his three innings of work, allowing no hits and walking 1.
Over in Sanford Florida, we have 4 Ontario prospects playing games and making an impact right away.
To kick it off, 2023 Andrew Johnston has been punishing the ball the last two days, showing bat speed and strength while piling up the extra bases. The catcher/third baseman has good feel in the box and has impressed our staff in Florida.

After an impressive round of BP, continues to show well in game. Compact swing, uses his strength well with a triple here. @PBR_Ontario pic.twitter.com/9o4mtTnIZw
On the mound, we’ve seen uncommitted 2022 Kurt Barr on numerous occasions and has always been someone that our staff has liked. Well he kicked off 2021 looking strong and polished as he sat 86-89 and touched 90 mph with the free and easy delivery we are accustomed too.
It’s long and lean and looks to have grown an inch or two over the winter. Barr is going to be one of the top arms in the 2022 class and can’t see him being uncommitted for long.

Has been impressive here early. Long, lean frame. Works under control free and easy arm action and ball comes out of the hand well. Has been 86-89 T90 with some late arm side life. @PBR_Ontario pic.twitter.com/70hKNwLqVO
Dylan Oborne. Strong, physical and had himself a nice day 1 as he touched 90 mph on the mound and then proceeded to show his strength and he hit a bomb into wind at Boombah Sports Complex.
Oborne is an uncommitted 2022 who has tools on both sides of the ball presently and has been in Florida for some time now getting reps and being able to compete in live game action. There is a lot to like and work with from the 6-foot-2 Oborne and is bound to be on college coaches radar.

Oborne looked the part today in workouts showing present arm strength in the INF topping at 89 mph. Strength carried over in BP w/ power to pull side gap and 100 mph Exit Velo. pic.twitter.com/MW80snSEAv
