Johnston, a 5-foot-11, 180-pound infielder in the Ontario Terriers organization was an attendee of our Future Game Trials. In the infield, he displayed decent movements side-to-side, and once he gets to the ball he showed the ability to collect and let off strong and accurate throws up to 81 mph. At the plate, he has a strong base, a controlled load, and drives with a short, compact swing. With current strength, there is raw power, and when he gets out front, the ball jumps off his bat. At times he relies on his strength too much and gets locked up with his hands as he is late rotating, but overall, he is sound mechanically. The bat plays and he has one of the stronger offensive profiles in the 2022 class.
