OK Fall Underclass Prospect Games: Shortstop Analysis

Camden Bates SS / 2B / Washington , OK / 2023

A 5-foot-7, 135-pound athletic frame; SS/2B. At the plate, the right-handed hitter's best exit velocity was 83 mph. Began in an athletic stance with a wrapping load, then used a long stride to initiate his swing. Showed some advanced bat speed, as well as an upward swing plane and a high finish. In BP, shows a middle to pull and flat approach with mostly barrels. In the infield, his best throw was registered at 79 mph; showed soft hands, a clean exchange and rhythmic feet, advanced overall. From an-over-the-top slot, he showed consistent accuracy to the bag with a loose arm action.

Keaton Campbell SS / 3B / Charles Page, OK / 2022

A 6-foot-1, 175-pound projectable frame; SS/3B. At the plate, the right-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 84 mph. Begins in a balanced an open stance with a smooth load, then uses a leg kick to initiate his swing. Shows average bat speed and an upward swing plane, and he ends his swing with good extension on his finish. Used an easy effort swing showing a pull approach with a few barrels. In the infield, his best throw was registered at 75 mph; displayed developing footwork, sure hands and a clean exchange. Used a high ¾ slot and a short arm action while showing consistent accuracy to the bag. In the 60-yard dash, he clocked a time of 7.56.

Evan Casey SS / OF / Sapulpa, OK / 2021

A 5-foot-10, 145-pound slim frame; SS/OF. During batting practice, the right-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 82 mph. Began in an athletic stance with a small load, then used a toe tap to initiate his swing. Displayed a flat swing plane and rapid bat speed, and he ended his swing with a level finish. Bat path creates a line drive approach along with displaying an average effort swing. In BP, shows middle to pull and flat approach with some barrels. In the outfield, he showed the ability to make throws to the bases at 86 mph;had quick feet, a quick exchange and twitchy hands. While in the infield, registered his best throw across the diamond at 81 mph. Laterally, movements were athletic and fielded the ball to the side. Showing consistent accuracy to the bag, he used a compact arm action and an-over-the-top slot. He showed off his speed at the event, running a swift 6.82 60-yard dash. 

Josh Errico SS / 2B / Edmond Memorial , OK / 2023

A 5-foot-7, 130-pound slim frame; SS/2B. At the plate, the right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 80 mph. Begins in a crouched an open stance with a small load, then uses a toe tap just before his swing. Displayed a flat swing plane, average bat speed and a high finish. In BP, shows a pull and flat approach with some barrels.  In the infield, his best throw was recorded at 75 mph across the field; displayed sure hands, rhythmic feet and a clean exchange. Showing decent accuracy to the bases, he had a ¾ slot with a short arm action. He recorded a 60 time of 7.18 at the event.

Braydyn Escarcega SS / RHP / Allen, OK / 2020

A 6-foot, 175-pound athletic frame; SS/RHP. At the plate, the right-handed hitter showed his power in the box with a strong exit velocity of 89 mph. Starts in an open a tall stance, has a wrapping load and uses a toe tap. Exhibited above average bat speed and a level swing plane, and he ended his swing with a level finish. Bat path showed a drive the ball approach along with using an easy effort swing. In BP, shows an opposite field and flat approach, some barrels. While in the infield, registered his best throw across the diamond at 82 mph; displayed a quick exchange, sure hands and rhythmic footwork. Showing consistent accuracy to the bases, he used a loose arm action with a high ¾ slot. The athletic recruit showcased his speed with a sub-seven 60 time of 6.96. 

Broderick Finlay SS / RHP / Norman North , OK / 2022

A 6-foot-1, 168-pound projectable frame; SS/RHP. During batting practice, the right-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 84 mph. Starts in a tall stance, has a wrapping load and uses a long stride to initiate his swing. Exhibited a straight-to-the-ball swing plane, as well as above average bat speed and a high finish. In BP, shows a mostly flat and all fields approach, nearly all barrels. In the infield, his best throw was recorded at 80 mph across the field; displayed rhythmic feet, a fluid exchange and sure hands. Laterally, his movements were athletic and used his glove-work out front. Showed consistent accuracy to the bag with a loose arm action and a high ¾ slot. During the event, he ran the 60-yard dash in 7.28. 

Kobe Flow SS / 2B / Yukon, OK / 2021

A 5-foot-10, 155-pound; SS/2B. During batting practice, the right-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 79 mph. Began in a crouched an open stance with a wrapping load, then used a short stride to start his swing. Shows above average bat speed and a straight-to-the-ball swing plane, and he ends his swing with a high finish. Bat path showed a line drive approach along with displaying an easy effort swing. In BP, shows a spray approach with some barrels. In the infield, his best throw was recorded at 74 mph across the field; showed a clean exchange, soft hands and quick feet. Showed a loose arm action and a high ¾ slot with consistent accuracy to the bag. During the event, he ran the 60-yard dash in 7.17.

Cole Girard SS / RHP / Piedmont , OK / 2023

A 5-foot-5, 130-pound slim frame; SS/RHP. At the plate, the right-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 69 mph. Begins in an open a tall  stance with a small load, then uses a toe tap right before his swing. In BP, shows a pull and flat approach with some barrels. Had below average bat speed, as well as a long swing plane and a level finish. In the infield, his best throw was recorded at 68 mph across the field; showed soft hands, quick footwork and a natural exchange. Used a ¾ slot and a long arm action while showing consistent accuracy to the base. In the 60-yard dash, he recorded a time of 8.81.

Brodie Hinson SS / 2B / Carl Albert , OK / 2023

 A 5-foot-10, 150-pound lean frame; SS/2B. At the plate, the switch hitter had a max exit velocity of 82 mph. Starts in a crouched an open  stance with a smooth load, then uses a long stride before his swing. Bat speed was above average, showed a straight-to-the-ball swing plane and a high finish. In BP, shows a pull gap approach from both sides finding barrels late in both rounds.In the infield, his best throw was recorded at 71 mph across the field; displayed sure hands, quick feet and a clean exchange. Showed consistent accuracy to the bag with a loose arm action and a high ¾ slot. In the 60-yard dash, he recorded a time of 7.37. 

Miles Lock SS / 2B / Deer Creek, OK / 2022

 A 5-foot-8, 144-pound lanky frame; SS/2B. During batting practice, the right-handed hitters best exit velocity was 83 mph. Starts in an athletic an open  stance with a smooth load, then uses a leg kick just before his swing. Displays a short swing plane, as well as advanced bat speed and a high finish. In PB, shows a middle to opposite field approach, mostly flat, finding a few barrels. In the infield, his best throw was registered at 74 mph; displayed sure hands, rhythmic feet and a clean exchange. Showed a high ¾ slot and a short arm action with consistent accuracy to the base. In the 60-yard dash, his time was 7.32. 

Kale Miller SS / 2B / Blanchard , OK / 2022

A recent Cowley County commit has a 6-foot-1, 170-pound athletic frame; SS/2B. At the plate, the right-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 83 mph. Starts in a crouched an open  stance with a smooth load, then uses a short stride just before his swing. Exhibited a flat swing plane and quick bat speed, and he ended his swing with a high finish. In BP, shows an all fields and flat approach with nearly all barrels. In the infield, displayed a velocity of 79 mph across the field; showed next level hands, a quick exchange and rhythmic feet. Used athletic movements laterally and fielded the ball out front.  Showing consistent accuracy to the bases, he used a loose arm action with a high ¾ slot. He recorded a time of 7.64 in the 60-yard dash. 

Zandt Payne SS / 3B / Deer Creek, OK / 2021

A 5-foot-10, 150-pound; SS/3B. At the plate, the switch hitter had a max exit velocity of 78 mph. Begins in a balanced stance, has a quick load and uses a short stride. Had a flat swing plane and above average bat speed, and he ended his swing with a high finish. In BP, shows a pull approach with lift from the left side and a pull and flat approach from the right, some barrels from both sides.In the infield, his position velocity was registered at 80 mph; showed rhythmic feet, a quick exchange and soft hands. Showed a short arm action and a high ¾ slot with consistent accuracy to the base. During the event, he recorded a 60 time of 7.14.

Begins in an athletic stance, has a wrapping load and uses a short stride just before his swing. Shows a level swing plane, quick bat speed and a high finish. Has a base hit approach and an easy effort swing with a flat and middle approach from the left and a pull and ground ball approach from the right. In the infield, recorded a position velocity of 84 mph; had a quick exchange, next level hands and rhythmic footwork. Movements laterally were athletic while he fields the ball out front. Used a ¾ slot and a loose arm action while showing consistent accuracy to the bag. He recorded a time of 7.1 in the 60-yard dash. 

Tucker Resolute SS / RHP / Mount St. Mary, OK / 2021
