OK Fall Top Prospect Games: Catcher Analysis

PBR OK hosted the fourth annual OK Fall Top Prospect Games at beautiful Central Oklahoma. Over 65 invite-only players showcased their skill in front of the PBR OK staff, 6 colleges and two pro scouts. The talented event saw five sub 7.00 60s, 6 90+ exit velos, 14 infield velos of 80+, four outfield velos of 85+, six sub 2.00 second pop times, and five max fastballs at 85 mph. Players profiles have already been updated with stats and pictures with reports and video to be updated in the weeks to come. The number below do not represent a players all-time best, only what they achieved at this event.

Will Bradley C / OF / Norman North , OK / 2022Demonstrated a solid 5-foot-9, 170-pound frame with some present strength. The right-handed hitter starts from a balanced, even setup utilizing a quick leg-lift to initiate his swing. Generated a flat barrel path into the zone evidenced by a line drive approach in the middle of the field, notching a 78 mph bat-exit velocity from the tee. Recorded a 7.42 60-yard dash. The primary backstop showcased solid receiving skills with minimal body sway upon receiving. Displayed pop times ranging from 1.95-2.12 using a quick release and advanced straight line footwork while registering accurate throws of 71 mph from the crouch. Showed comfortability while blocking with present athleticism behind the plate. |
Hunter Brown C / 1B / Yukon , OK / 2020Showcased a solid 6-foot, 165-pound frame with present strength. The right-handed hitter begins from an even stance utilizing a leg-hang to initiate his swing. Quick hands and advanced hip shoulder separation allow for a slightly uphill barrel path to generate backspin and some barrels with a strong finish in BP, registering an 87 mph bat-exit velocity from the tee. Showcased advanced feel of the barrel with present pop to the pull-side gap. Recorded a 7.82 60-yard dash. The primary backstop featured adequate receiving skills with minimal body sway at the catch point. Registered pop times ranging from 1.95-2.14 on accurate throws of 74 mph from the crouch. Cord Dobrinski C / OF / Bristow, OK / 2022Demonstrated advanced feel of a physical 6-foot-1, 185-pound frame with present athleticism. The right-handed hitter begins with a wide, even stance utilizing a lift-and-replace stride and backwards lean to initiate his swing. Hands drop to shoulder height upon load allowing for a flat barrel path to enter the zone upon contact. Generated consistent, easy swings with feel for the barrel during batting practice showing a middle to opposite field approach. Registered a solid 85 mph bat-exit velocity from the tee and recorded a 7.02 60-yard dash showing a current feel for his body. The primary backstop featured adequate framing ability with minimal body sway at the catch point. Pop times ranged from 2.19-2.44 on throws of 68 mph out of the crouch using a short takeaway from a high ¾ arm-slot. Solid straight line footwork created consistent, accurate throws to the bag and an increase in arm-strength should be seen as he matures. Showcased downward angles while blocking with adequate recovery skills. |
Ralph Harford C / 1B / Navajo , OK / 2020The primary catcher demonstrated a stocky 5-foot-10, 175-pound frame. The right-handed hitter begins with a square stance utilizing a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Generated a slightly uphill barrel path through the baseball with advanced bat-speed in the zone. Displayed excelent feel for the barrel with pull side pop registering an 87 mph bat-exit velocity from the tee. Recorded a 7.64 60-yard dash. The backstop featured solid receiving skills with minimal body sway at the catch point. Pop times ranged from 2.16-2.25 on throws of 67 mph from the crouch. The middle infielder showed adequate footwork with soft hands during defensive evaluations. Flashed accurate 73 mph throws across the infield with control of his body on plays on the run. |
Braden Harper C / OF / Noble, OK / 2022Displayed a solid 5-foot-9, 170-pound frame with some physicality. The right-handed hitter begins with a square, even stance utilizing a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Demonstrated sink into a strong lower-half while entering the zone on a slightly uphill barrel path. Generated pull-side pop and advanced bat-speed while hitting into a stiff front side, registering an 88 mph bat-exit velocity from the tee. Recorded a 7.51 60-yard dash. The primary backstop flashed a soft glove hand while receiving and notched pop times of 2.00-2.22. Used smooth transfers and a fluid, high ¾ arm-slot yielding accurate 71 mph throws on the bag. Showcased comfortability while blocking creating soft walls and downward angles towards the plate. The infielder showed adequate feet that arrived to the ball on time allowing for accurate 74 mph throws across the infield. The left-handed hitter begins with a wide, even stance utilizing a short lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Generated a flat barrel path through the hitting zone while hitting into a stiff front side. Showcased advanced barrel whip while registering a solid 90 mph bat-exit velocity from the tee. Showed an all fields approach in BP. In the game, Jones had an RBI double to deep center and flew out to deep center. Recorded a 7.44 60-yard dash. The catcher flashed a soft glove had while receiving with minimal body sway at the catch point. Pop times ranged from 1.93-2.02 on accurate throws of 74 mph out of a fluid high ¾ arm-slot with a moderate takeaway. Used smooth transfers and adequate straight line footwork to command throws on the bag. Deadened the ball on blocks creating soft walls and advantageous angles. |
Jack Jones RHP / C / Bishop Kelley, OK / 2020The primary backstop featured a lean 5-foot-9, 155-pound frame with some room to add strength. The right-handed hitter begins in a tall, even stance using a leg-kick to initiate his swing. A fluid, repeatable swing allowed for a slightly uphill barrel path to enter the hitting zone. Generated some backspin by hitting into a stiff front side coupled with some sink into the lower half. In BP, shows a middle of the field approach with nearly all barrels. Registered an 84 mph bat-exit velocity from the tee and ran a 7.50 60-yard dash. Demonstrated adequate receiving skills with a soft glove hand at the catch point. Pop times ranged from 1.95-2.07 on throws of 74 mph from the crouch. Flashed solid straight line footwork and a quick transfer allowing for accurate throws on the bag out of a fluid, high ¾ arm-slot. The infielder played with a low center of gravity with range to both sides. Feet arrived on time creating advantageous hops while recording throws of 83 mph across the infield. |
Brody Rexroad C / 3B / Mustang, OK / 2021The 6-foot-1, 200-pound primary backstop featured a large, physical frame with strength that plays in-game. The right-handed hitter begins with an open stance utilizing a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Generated advanced bat whip through a slightly uphill path into the zone while hitting into a strong and stiff front side. Created legit carry with noticeable pull side pop and a gap-to-gap approach with nearly all barrels, registering a 92 mph bat-exit velocity from the tee. Demonstrated fluid hips that allowed for extension long through the baseball. Recorded a 7.87 60-yard dash. The primary catcher flashed a soft glove-hand at the catch point with minimal body sway. Brand Wilson C / RHP / Lookeba Sickles , OK / 2023Displayed a projectable 6-foot-2, 180-pound frame with physicality. The switch-hitter mirrors himself from both sides beginning with a bent, slightly-open stance utilizing a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Generated a slightly higher leg-kick from the right-side entering the zone with a slightly uphill barrel path. Hit into a soft front side with a gap-to-gap approach showcasing solid feel for the barrel during batting practice. Registered an 81 mph bat-exit velocity from the tee and ran an 8.19 60-yard dash. The primary backstop showed a soft glove hand with adequate receiving skills. Pop times ranged from 2.06-2.13 on accurate throws of 73 mph out of a high-effort, high ¾ arm-slot. Demonstrated adequate footwork with average transfers. Created downward angles on both sides of the plate with average blocking skills. The right-handed hitter begins with a bent, slightly-open stance utilizing a leg-lift stride to initiate his swing. Displayed a smooth, repeatable swing with plenty of barrel whip through a slightly uphill barrel path. A fluid lower half created advanced extension through the zone during batting practice registering an 88 mph bat-exit velocity from the tee while hitting into a stiff front-side. In the game, had three hits including an RBI double to deep center field Recorded a 7.07 60-yard dash showing comfortability in his current frame. The backstop demonstrated solid receiving skills with a soft glove-hand and minimal body sway at the catch point. Pop times ranged from 1.94-2.03 using advanced straight line footwork and smooth transfers yielding an accurate 76 mph arm-strength out of a fluid, high ¾ arm-slot. Flashed solid blocking skills behind the dish with soft walls on both sides of the plate with downward angles allowing for easy recovery. The third baseman showed adequate footwork with long actions during defensive evaluations. Arrived on time to the baseball while notching accurate 82 mph across the diamond. |
