Updated 2022 Rankings

TJ Hunt
Director, PBR New Jersey

We continue on with Rankings Week with the updated list of 2022 prospects in New Jersey.

When Senator Sarlo announced the opportunity for high school players to take a "Covid-redshirt," there were some shakeups in the classes - some graduating seniors were dropped to juniors, which made them eligible for the 2022 rankings, and so on, which is why some of the names on the list might seem familiar to other grad classes.

Notes

+ The top 5 remains the same with Mule, Dana, Brzezniak, Maldonado, and Jaxel. Mule made big news this offseason, committing to Miami on Instagram -  which leaves just five players out of the top 50 still uncommitted.

+ One notable tidbit comes from Jayden Hylton - who was previously in the top 10. The Stetson commit has since moved to Florida, and has enrolled in Palm Beach Gardens High School. The 6-foot-5 200-pound 1B/OF was ranked No. 7 in New Jersey before his move.

High Risers

+ Uncommitted RHP Clayton Poliey (Don Bosco Prep HS, NJ) certainly made a name for himself this offseason. Athletic frame at 6-foot 180-pounds - Poliey possesses a fastball that was up to 89 in March and averged 2446rpm. His breaker showed sharp true 12/6 bite at 69-72 mph (2457 average rpm). Poliey was a strike throwing machine in multiple looks this offseason.

+ Another top performer and high riser from the offseason was RHP/3B Andrew Goldan (St. Joseph's Metuchen HS, NJ). Fastball was up to 90 mph in February (2438 average spin) and was equally as imporessive at the plate and in the field - 7.08 runner, 90 INF velo, and 99 exit velo via Trackman. Lean, athletic frame at 6-foot-1 185-pounds - expect Goldan's velocity to continue to jump as the weather warms this spring.
