2020 Northeast Future Games - Team Connecticut Workout Day Notes

The 2020 Future Games will have a different look to it as we have decided to do our own Future Games based off of Covid-19 restrictions. PBR Michigan, PBR New England, PBR New Jersey, PBR New York, PBR Ohio, and PBR Pennsylvania are combining for the Northeast Future Games at Showers Field and Stern Field in DuBois Pennsylvania.

Catchers
Anthony Torreso C / 3B / Salisbury School, CT / 2022Rankings StateRank: 96 / POS: 11
Report: Torreso showed a big arm behind the plate, easy carry, throws were on the bag. At the plate, pluice to the middle part of the field with hard solid contact. |
David McCann C / SS / Avon Old Farms, CT / 2023Rankings StateRank: 22 / POS: 3
Report: The left-handed hitting catcher took a solid batting practice, super smooth swing, lift and loft to it. Driving the baseball consistently into the right-center gap. Behind the plate, is athletic, moves very well, strong hands, clean quick transfer, throws from a higher slot, with carry. |
Infielders
TJ Gormley SS / 3B / North Kingstown, RI / 2022Rankings StateRank: 43 / POS: 11
Report: Gormley is a left-handed hitter, wider, quiet stance. Stayed in the middle of the field, line drive approach, punishing the baseball. Defensively, good flow, arm has enough carry and flight to stick on left-side. |
Michael Coyne SS / 2B / Fairfield Prep, CT / 2022Report: Coyne has a long and lengthy frame. Defensively, smooth flow, with soft hands, and a clean arm swing which he throws at a level with. The bat path is clean and he showed the ability to stay in his legs. I would like to see him cut it loose when he swings. |
Hayden Miller SS / RHP / Salisbury, CT / 2022Rankings StateRank: 50 / POS: 13
Report: Miller is a right-handed hitting middle infielder who shows a solid glove and plenty of arm to stick. The glove is slick and he moves well. The bat showed good life to it and he showed a clean hand path to the ball. |
Michael Anquillare 1B / OF / North Haven, CT / 2022Rankings StateRank: 69 / POS: 5
Report: Anquillare is a right-handed hitting first baseman. The athleticism is very good and he is a good athlete at first base. The glove is soft and he shows a solid arm across the diamond. The bat is very good and he stays simple. The bottom half is under control, he stays in the middle of the field and centers the ball. |
Garrett Burke 3B / RHP / Bishop Hendricken, RI / 2022Report: Burke is a left-handed hitting corner infielder. The bat has good juice to it as he went into launch mode throughout his session. The hands work clean and he has good strength to the bat. |
Greg Gorman 1B / OF / Westerly, RI / 2022Rankings StateRank: 51 / POS: 3
Report: Gorman is a big left-handed hitting first baseman. The leverage is legit at the plate, the hands are clean and the frame has room to fill out. The athleticism at first base is excellent as he moves well, throws and is a big target. |
Outfielders

Report: Gutseld is a left-handed hitting outfielder. The foot speed is very good and he has an aggressive approach to the ball in the outfield. The batting practice session was very good as he made solid contact throughout and stayed in his legs. He is a solid prospect with the bat and foot speed tool. |
Jared Munoz OF / 3B / Bishop Hendricken, RI / 2022Rankings StateRank: 67 / POS: 13
Report: Munoz is a right-handed hitting outfielder. He turned in a very good workout as the approach at the plate is simple and he uses the hands well. The path to the ball is short and he shows gap to gap power. The approach in the outfield is online and athletic. He displayed arm strength during the outfield portion of the workout. |
John Heitzman OF / SS / Fairfield Warde, CT / 2022Report: Heitzman is a left-handed hitting outfielder. The bat is a solid tool as the hands work and he shows potential for power from the left-side. The approach in the outfield is online and aggressive. He profiles as a corner outfielder at the next level. |
Preston Cunha OF / 1B / Providence Country Day, RI / 2022Rankings StateRank: 40 / POS: 5
Report: Cunha is a right-handed hitting outfielder. He displayed a good approach to hitting as the hands are quick and simple to contact. The bat has gap to gap power and the frame can add strength to aid the development of the bat. The approach in the outfield is athletic and he showed arm strength. |
MVP of the workout
Alex Marot SS / 3B / Bishop Hendricken, RI / 2022Rankings StateRank: 25 / POS: 8
Report: Marot is a physical right-handed hitting third baseman. At the plate, the barrel has major life to it, more middle to pull side power, launched multiple balls out of the yard. Showed a plus arm at third, soft hands with good flow, plenty of arm to stick at the hot corner. Marot's performance earned him the MVP of the workout. |
