Throughout the course of the fall, the PBR Illinois staff hosted various different JUCO Scout Days with multiple different programs scattered across the state.

These events offered players from their respective junior colleges to participate in a pro-style workout in front of our staff, gathering unrivaled data in the process through the help of our state-of-the-art tech partners. Players received verified up-to-date statistics, TrackMan and Blast Motion data, and high quality video of their workouts that can be found within each individual player profile.

Now, with the fall coming to a close and the baseball calendar transitioning into the off-season, our staff will be spending the next few weeks highlighting several names-to-know from our fall JUCO circuit.

Below you will learn more about a multitude of uncommitted position players, with a pitcher's story to come shortly, that came away from the Illinois fall JUCO circuit as follow prospects.

Cordell Coburn C / 3B / Evansville North, IN / 2021 Rankings  StateRank: 57 / POS: 5 From 9/7/23: “Redshirt sophomore. 6-foot-2, 210-pounds, strong/durable build with round shoulders. Coburn displayed an easy and balanced right-handed stroke in BP, working the ball with authority up the middle and to the opposite field. According to TrackMan, Coburn reached up to 98.1 mph for his max EV with an average of 94.5 mph, reaching up to 362’ for his max distance. He moves well for his size, running to a 7.15 in the 60. Clean catch/throw operation behind the plate, reaching as low as 2.02 for his pop-time with a max velocity of 76 mph."

Cameron Hill OF / RHP / Brother Rice, IL / 2021 Rankings  StateRank: 20 / POS: 3 From 9/7/23: “True sophomore. 6-foot-4, 215-pound frame, evenly proportioned strength throughout. Hill gave one of the more impressive looks on the entire day, showcasing loud tools across the board. He started his day by running a 6.77 in the 60-yard dash, long/athletic strides, moves extremely well for his size. The right-handed hitter has easy strength in his bat, reaching up to 104.4 mph for his max EV with an average of 99.8 mph, also reaching up to 391’ for his max distance with an average distance of 340’. He creates well above-average bat-speed, averaging 77.8 mph and topping out at 82.3 mph. In the outfield, Hill has steady hands and plays athletically through the ball, reaching up to 97 mph from a crow hop.”

Gage Griggs 2B / SS / Paducah Tilghman , KY / 2022 Rankings  StateRank: 16 / POS: 1 From 9/7/23: “True sophomore. Compact and athletic 5-foot-8, 170-pound frame. Griggs returns to the Vols with 209 at-bats under his belt from last spring, turning in a respectable .263 batting average with 35 RBIs and 24 stolen bases on 25 attempts. 6.84 runner in the 60, speed plays on the defensive side as well with easy range to both sides of his glove. On the infield, Griggs has soft and confident hands with a quick/clean transfer, reaching up to 84 mph across the diamond. The right-handed hitter has a flat and fluid swing with extension through contact, creating line-drives with a max EV of 95.8 mph.”

Benjamin Loyd SS / 2B / Tremper, WI / 2021 Rankings  StateRank: 15 / POS: 4 From 9/7/23: “Redshirt sophomore. 6-foot-1, 177-pound frame with some athleticism. The left-handed hitter has a smooth stroke, looking to keep the ball on a line and reaching up to 96.2 mph for his max EV while averaging 89.6 mph (T346’). Smooth defender up the middle with soft hands and a quick/clean transfer. He has easy range to both sides of his glove and plays on the move, reaching up to 80 mph across the diamond.”

Cody Schneider OF / 1B / Beavercreek, OH / 2022 Rankings  StateRank: 190 / POS: 28 From 9/7/23: “Redshirt sophomore. 6-foot, 190-pounds, lean and athletic with some room to add on muscle. The right-handed hitter has a fluid rhythm and repeatable operation on the box, working on the barrel consistently and reaching up to 97.9 mph for his max EV with a max distance of 380’. Above-average runner with a 7.00 in the 60, and his speed plays in the outfield with above-average foot speed. Schneider also boasts a strong arm, reaching up to 87 mph from a crow hop, playing with carry to his target.”

Bryce Cape OF / LHP / F.J. Reitz , IN / 2021 Rankings  StateRank: 166 / POS: 30 From 9/7/23: “Sophomore. Compact, 5-foot-9, 165-pound frame with an athletic build. Cape was one of the top performers for SIC last spring, posting a .287 batting average in 143 at-bats with 27 RBIs. The right-handed hitter reached up to 93.3 mph for his max EV, averaging just over 88 mph. He has a fluid rhythm at the plate with sneaky jump off the bat, creating extension through contact. 7.10 runner in the 60-yard dash.”

Ryan Taylor OF / SS / Conant, IL / 2021 From 9/7/23: “Sophomore. 6-foot, 195-pound frame, physical and mature build with strength attached. Taylor gave an impressive look on the day with multiple tools to show for it, starting with his round of BP where he reached up to 95.2 mph for his max EV. Strong, fluid right-handed swing, stays through the baseball and works the ball to the whole field. Above-average athlete, recording a 6.90 in the 60-yard dash. Steady defender in the outfield with soft hands, plays through the ball with intent and reached up to 85 mph with a crow hop, hitting his target consistently at the plate with accurate throws.”

John Kiebler SS / 2B / Paducah Tilghman , KY / 2022 Rankings  StateRank: 129 / POS: 19 From 9/7/23: “True sophomore. Athletic build, compact frame standing 5-foot-10, 170-pounds. Kiebler is yet another top returner for SIC and he certainly looked the part throughout his workout. Last season the right-handed hitter hit .319 in 138 at-bats and it's easy to see why, as he boasts a loose/athletic stroke with barrel control that looks to keep the ball on a line to the whole field. He’s an above-average defender on the infield, moving athletically to both sides of his glove with some bounce in his step and soft hands. Quick/clean transfer that can play on the move, reaching up to 83 mph across the diamond. 7.17 runner in the 60-yard dash.”

Grant Dalton OF / SS / Bedford North Lawrence, IN / 2022 From 9/7/23: “Sophomore. 6-foot-2, 175-pound frame, lean with plenty of upside. The left-handed hitter saw some time last season and made the most of his opportunity, turning in a .313 batting average in 48 at-bats. His swing is smooth and fluid, working mostly to his pull-side with intent to lift, registering a max EV of 92.4 mph with a good amount of untapped power still in the tank. Steady defender in the outfield, sure-handed and plays through the ball with intent, reaching up to 86 mph from a crow hop. 7.09 runner in the 60-yard dash.”

Blake Templeton 2B / 3B / Fort Collins, CO / 2020 From 9/7/23: “Sophomore. 6-foot, 200-pound frame, strength throughout with round shoulders. The right-handed hitter reached up to 94 mph for his max EV with a max distance of 347’, staying mostly short to the ball and exploding through the zone with hard contact to his pull-side, averaging 72 mph for his bat-speed (T78.7 mph). He creates above-average force through the ball as well, averaging 19.1 for his rotational acceleration (T25.4).”

Luke Bullins OF / OF / Marion, AR / 2022 Rankings  StateRank: 60 / POS: 7 From 9/7/23: “True sophomore. 6-foot-2, 185-pounds, lean strength with room to add on additional muscle. Twitchy athlete, started his day by cruising to a 6.89 in the 60-yard dash. Intriguing power/speed combination, as he reached up to 97.6 mph for his max EV with an average EV of 91 mph. The right-handed hitter creates rhythm in his hands before firing through the zone with a flat to slightly uphill path, creating extension through impact and powering-line drives to the whole field. Bullins moves well in the outfield with noticeable foot speed, playing through the ball with intent and steady hands, reaching up to 87 mph from a crow hop.”

Colby Guy 1B / 3B / Eastview, ON / 2021 Rankings  StateRank: 61 / POS: 2 From 9/7/23: “Sophomore. Strong-bodied, 6-foot-3, 215-pound frame. The left-handed hitter showed off some bat-strength throughout his round of BP, especially to his pull-side where he reached up to 96.2 mph for his max EV with an average of 90.3 mph. He showed intent to lift the baseball throughout his round of BP, reaching up to 370’ for his max distance.”

Dicky Gonzalez SS / RHP / Lake Land College, IL / 2023 From 9/8/23: “Sophomore. Lean and athletic build, 5-foot-10, 175-pounds with plenty of room to add on strength. Gonzalez brings back a .342 batting average in 111 at-bats from last spring, also recording eight doubles and 27 RBIs. Simple, fluid right-handed stroke with intent to lift, pummeled the ball with lifted contact to his pull-side, more power projection as he fills out, currently reaching up to 98 mph for his max EV with a 93.2 mph average and 382’ max distance. Fluid defender on the infield with athletic actions, soft hands and a clean transfer, moves well side-to-side with easy range. Well above-average arm, touching 94 mph across the diamond. He also showed extremely well on the mound; live-arm from low 3/4 release point, easy velocity. Fastball touched 91, mostly 89-90 mph with late tail and sink. Inconsistent, yet sharp 71-74 mph slider at times. Throws around the ball too often. Will also drop down to sidearm slot and tickle 85 mph.”

Moises Rosario C / CENAPEC, DR / 2023 From 9/8/23: “Sophomore. Listed at a durable 5-foot-10, 196-pounds, round shoulders with some strength throughout. A top returner for the Lakers, putting up a .301 batting average in 146 at-bats last spring with 11 doubles, four home runs and 27 RBIs. The right-handed hitter has some pre-pitch movement in his hands along with a fluid rhythm in his operation, consistently working his pull-side and middle of the field with authority, reaching up to 100 mph for his max EV with an average EV of 96.9 mph (T379’). High-level catch/throw behind the dish, quick/clean transfer, stays short and works in-line, reaching as low as 1.88 for his pop-time and topping at 83 mph from the chute.”

Cade Hamilton SS / OF / Inspiration Academy, FL / 2022 Rankings  StateRank: 184 / POS: 40 StateRank: 154 / POS: 28 From 9/8/23: “6-foot-3, 210-pound frame, physical build with muscle attached throughout. Above-average athlete, cruising to a 6.78 in the 60 to start his day. Switch-hitter at the plate with a similar look from both sides, reached up to 99.7 mph for his max EV with an average of 93.1 mph (T376’). Heavy pull-side approach, worked more line-drives from the right-side and lifted contact from the left. Fluid defender on the infield with soft hands and athletic footwork, easy range to both sides and gets around the ball. Well above-average arm, reaching up to 88 mph across the diamond.”

Joshua Ward OF / C / Waiakea , HI / 2023 From 9/8/23: “Athletic, 6-foot-1, 185-pound frame. The right-handed hitter impressed in BP with a loose/handsy swing, working primarily to his pull-side and occasionally getting around pitches on the outer-half, reaching up to 97.7 mph for his max EV. Athletic actions in the outfield with soft hands, clean arm stroke that reached up to 88 mph from a crow hop.”

Jack Tobin 1B / RHP / Prairie Ridge , IL / 2022 From 9/8/23: “True sophomore. Physical build listed at 6-foot-5, 230-pounds, evenly proportioned strength throughout. The right-handed hitter showed easy bat-strength in his round of BP, reaching up to 350’ for his max distance with a max EV of 94.6 mph. Simple and repeatable right-handed stroke, Tobin routinely put the ball on line to his pull-side/middle. Steady defender at first base, fluid footwork around the bag with a strong arm (T85 mph), flashed soft hands.”

Kannon Walker OF / LHP / Belleville East , IL / 2022 Rankings  StateRank: 199 / POS: 41 From 9/8/23: “True sophomore. 5-foot-10, 160-pound frame, athletic with room to fill out physically. Impressive two-way showing for Walker, starting with his round of BP. The right-handed hitter has a fluid rhythm in the box, utilizing a small step to start his load with a slight separation in the hands, firing through with an uphill path and reaching up to 95 mph for his max EV with a max distance of 365’. Athletic defender in the outfield with soft hands and fluid actions, reaching up to 86 mph from a crow hop. Above-average runner, cruising to a 6.99 in the 60-yard dash. On the mound, the southpaw worked his fastball in the 81-82 mph range with above-average spin (2500+ RPM), pairing off a sharp 1/7 curveball at 74-76 mph (2600+ RPM) and fading changeup at 76-78 mph.”

Owen Anderson C / Geneva, IL / 2022; Lake Land JC Rankings  StateRank: 312 / POS: 50 From 9/8/23: “True Sophomore. 6-foot, 185-pound frame, some strength throughout with a strong base, good catcher’s build. Another top returner for the Lakers as he turned in a .350 batting average in 140 at-bats last spring with seven doubles, 21 RBIs and 35 runs scored. The right-handed hitter has a lift and place stride which allows him to create some coil with hand-separation, firing through the zone with a mostly flat path and using the whole field. Steady defender behind the plate with a quick/clean catch and throw operation, working in-line with second and reaching as low as 2.05 for his pop-time. Deadens the ball out front on blocks and hops out with a motor on bunts.”

Justin Somoza 3B / 2B / San Fernando , NY / 2020 From 9/8/23: “Sophomore. 5-foot-11, 175-pound frame, lean build with room for added strength. The right-handed hitter has sneaky pop in his bat, reaching up to 98.8 mph for his max EV with an average of 90.6 mph (T370’). Simple, repeatable stroke, intent to lift with an uphill path, showed the ability to use the whole field. Steady defender on the infield with soft hands, fluid footwork to and through the ball, clean transfer on double play turn. Reached up to 80 mph across the diamond and played on the move.”

Collyn Ballard OF / 2B / North Clay, IL / 2022 From 9/8/23: “True sophomore. Compact, 5-foot-9, 180-pound frame, athletic with some strength attached. The right-handed hitter used the whole field throughout BP, mainly staying up the middle and to his pull-side, reaching up to 97.4 mph for his max EV with a 92.5 mph average EV. Steady hands and actions in the outfield, sequences well into a crow hop reaching up to 90 mph.”

Chris Hedinger OF / 1B / Jasper, IN / 2022 Rankings  StateRank: 138 / POS: 27 From 9/8/23: “Sophomore. Physical 6-foot-1, 220-pound frame with muscle attached throughout. The right-handed hitter had one of the more impressive rounds of BP on the day, working up to 98.6 mph for his max EV with an average of 90.3 mph. Above-average bat-strength, showing intent to lift to his pull-side and leaving the yard for a home run. Steady actions with deliberate footwork in the outfield, reaching up to 84 mph from a crow hop.”

Keifer Wilson C / 1B / Greencastle, IN / 2022 From 9/8/23: “Sophomore. 6-foot-3, 210-pound frame, some lean strength throughout with room for added muscle. The right-handed hitter has some strength projection in his swing as he continues to fill out, presently looks to work line-drives up the middle and to his pull-side, reaching just under 93 mph for his max EV. Quality defender behind the plate, clean catch/throw with some carry on his throws, reaching as low as 2.01 for his pop-time and topping out at 80 mph from the chute.”

Tate Wischnack OF / RHP / Waconia, MN / 2022 Rankings  StateRank: 204 / POS: 40 From 9/8/23: “True sophomore. 6-foot-1, 195-pound build with some present strength, round shoulders. A top returner for the Blue Knights, turning in a .262 batting average last spring in 122 at-bats with seven doubles, two triples, three home runs and 26 RBIs. The right-handed hitter has easy bat-strength, reaching up to 99 mph for his max EV with a max distance of 344’. Steady defender in the outfield, sure-handed with a well above-average arm, reaching up to 94 mph from a crow hop. Arm strength easily transfers over to the mound, reaching up to 91 mph with his fastball and spinning it over 2400 RPM at times. Flashed a fading change up and developing breaking ball to compliment the fastball. Still very raw on the mound with untapped potential.”

Payton Mansfield OF / 1B / Fremont , MI / 2021 Rankings  StateRank: 183 / POS: 28 From 9/8/23: “...stands in a hard-to-miss frame at 6-foot-3, 230-pounds with clear strength throughout his frame. Another right-handed bat that’s sure to be a middle of the lineup producer for the Blazers, Mansfield was named First Team All-American last season after posting a .433 batting average with 24 home runs and 74 RBIs. Delivering missile after missile during BP, Mansfield was consistently on the barrel throughout his round (100% hard hit), peppering baseballs 100+ mph throughout the round. His hardest hit ball of the day was blasted at 105.1 mph with a max batted distance of 407’. Mansfield’s bat speed was well above average at 77.6 mph (avg.) and 83.9 mph (max). From the outfield, he showed a strong arm with his hardest bullet at 85 mph on his throws to home.”

Carson Moreno 1B / 3B / Cristopher Columbus , FL / 2022 From 9/8/23: “...has present power production and he took one of the most impactful rounds of BP on the day. Standing in a strong 6-foot-2, 225-pound frame, Moreno led the event in nearly every hitting category. He posted the highest exit velocity of the event (107.7 mph), the highest average exit velocity (104.1 mph), the farthest max distance (413’), the farthest average distance (313’) and he was tied for the first in hard hit percentage (100%). Moreno also led the event in average and max bat speed (79.9 mph; 89.6 mph) and average and max hand speed (24.5 mph; 26.3 mph). The simple, right-handed swing takes little effort to produce loud numbers and he has the inherent bat strength to provide thump within this John Wood lineup.”

Garrett Meyer SS / OF / Jacksonville, IL / 2022 From 9/8/23: “...stands in an athletic 6-foot, 170-pound frame with room for added strength. Meyer had an all-around impressive showing on Friday. The right-handed hitter has twitchy hands that turned on the barrel with authority, sending his hardest hit ball 99.4 mph with an average of 94.6 mph. Meyer showed clean infield actions with confident hands and a strong and accurate arm on throws across the diamond (89 mph). Translating well in the outfield, too, Meyer’s arm played at upwards of 91 mph.”

Noah Deas 1B / 3B / n/a, GA / 2022 From 9/8/23: “...took an impressive round of BP from the left side of the plate. Deas has an easy and simple swing with some uphill tendencies that produced a max exit velocity of 95.9 mph. He was consistently barreling the baseball with an average of 91.4 mph. He sent a ball over the right field fence that traveled an estimated 358’, per Trackman.”

Byron Blaise C / 1B / Sycamore, IL / 2022 From 9/8/23: “...a transfer from Rock Valley College, is a 6-foot-1, 205-pound right-handed hitter that consistently sprayed barrels gap-to-gap throughout his round. His hardest hit ball was 95.2 mph and he consistently blasted balls in the low-90s with his farthest hit ball traveling 354’. From the crouch, Blaise posted a 2.02 pop time and he fired his best bullet down to second at 78 mph.”

Jake Radosevich C / 1B / Triad, IL / 2022 Rankings  StateRank: 289 / POS: 45 From 9/27/23: “...returns as this team’s top offensive threat, slashing .351/.431/.579 in 171 at-bats last season with 24 total extra-base hits, including six home runs. He’s a strong, physical 6-foot, 195-pound athlete that showed natural pull-side juice, averaging 91.9 mph per batted ball, including an event-best 100.4 mph high, and he swatted his furthest ball 367 feet, too. Radosevich showed well defensively too with natural arm strength (T84 mph) and accuracy, popping at 1.84-to-1.97 while routinely working on the bag.”

Nick Williams OF / 3B / Civic Memorial , IL / 2022 From 9/27/23: “...Arguably the day’s biggest workout winner, OF Nick Williams (Civic Memorial, 2022; IL) was an everyday regular for the Blazers last season, reaching base at a .421 clip and walking (32) more than he struck out (26). Williams holds plenty of athleticism within a 6-foot, 187-pound frame, running the day’s fastest 60 time (6.52) with a 1.57 10-yard split and 21.4 mph of run speed at peak. Williams favored the pull-side in BP, flashing bat strength that way (349 ft.) from a flat, rotational right-handed swing. He was also one of the event’s leaders in outfield velocity, topping at 88 mph on his hardest bullet.”

Alexander McNiven OF / 3B / Stayner Collegiate Institute, ON / 2022 Rankings  StateRank: 79 / POS: 14 From 9/27/23: “...is another top returner from last year’s Lewis & Clark squad to show well at this event. The strong-bodied 5-foot-10, 180-pound sophomore ran a 6.67 60 and hit his hardest ball at 98.6 mph, the event’s second-highest mark, staying on top of the baseball from a flat and direct right-handed swing.”

Jaxson Grubbs 1B / RHP / Maroa-Forsyth, IL / 2022 From 9/27/23: "1B Jaxson Grubbs (Maroa-Forsyth, 2022; IL) and OF Parker Davis (Fort Zumwalt East, 2022; MO) are two right-handed hitters that flashed bat strength in this look. The 6-foot-5, 230-pound Grubbs peaked at 98 mph on his hardest ball, averaging 89.5 mph per batted ball."

Parker Davis OF / 1B / Fort Zumwalt East, MO / 2022 Rankings  StateRank: 134 / POS: 30 From 9/27/23: "1B Jaxson Grubbs (Maroa-Forsyth, 2022; IL) and OF Parker Davis (Fort Zumwalt East, 2022; MO) are two right-handed hitters that flashed bat strength in this look. Davis, who holds physicality on a 6-foot-1, 200-pound frame, posted a 91.8 mph average exit velocity, with a 97.7 mph peak, and he sent his furthest ball 355 feet, which was one of the day’s highest marks. Davis also led all outfielders in throwing velocity, topping at 89 mph."

Ryan Caccia C / OF / St Charles North, IL / 2022; Elgin CC Rankings  StateRank: 162 / POS: 22 From 9/28/23: “...was a standout during Thursday’s scout day. To start the day, Caccia ran the fastest laser-timed 60 of the day at 6.71 and a max run speed of 21.1 mph. During BP Caccia would record exit velocities of 96.7 mph while averaging 83.3 mph throughout his round. Caccia’s bat also had some of the best marks of the day via Blast, as he averaged a bat speed of 77.5 mph with a max of 82.2 mph. Defensively behind the plate Caccia would show advanced catch-and-throw abilities, recording pop times in the 1.94-2.04 range with present arm strength at 80 mph from the crouch, and also showed quiet and confident hands during bullpens.”

Jaden Alberson RHP / OF / Elk Grove, IL / 2022; Elgin CC From 9/28/23: “To start his day, Alberson registered a 7.09 in the 60-yard dash in which he reached a top speed of 19.3 mph, per our Swift lasers. Then, during BP Alberson marked exit velocities as high as 90.2 mph and averaged 86.7 mph from the right-side. Alberson would then hop on the mound where he was arguably even more impressive. On the bump, Alberson is a clean and athletic mover, pairing it with a loose arm action that produced fastball highs of 86.4 mph. One of the more noteworthy metrics of his fastball was that it featured big carry through the zone, over 20” of vertical break at its peak and averaged 18.5”, all while spinning at over 2,500 RPM on average. His innate feel to spin transferred over to both of his breaking balls; the first being a low-70s slider that averaged 2,875 RPM and played with over 16” of horizontal movement. His curveball was equally impressive, throwing it in high-60s and spinning at nearly 2,700 RPM on average. He rounded out his four-pitch mix with a mid-70s changeup that played with run and occasional depth.”

Luke Bolender C / 1B / St. Charles North, IL / 2024; Elgin CC Rankings  StateRank: 344 / POS: 51 From 9/28/23: “...who is a strong 5-foot-11 backstop to know from this event. At the plate, Bolender swings an aggressive right-handed bat that reached highs of 97.9 mph on his hardest hit ball and averaged 92 mph, too. During his round, Bolender routinely deposited balls over the left-field fence, six of them going over 350 feet. Behind the plate, Bolender was also impressive, as he featured a quick catch and release with arm strength (T78 mph) that helped him record pop times in the 1.95-2.15 range.”

Aiden Kashuba OF / 1B / St. Charles North, IL / 2022; Elgin CC From 9/28/23: “Kashuba is a physically built righty at 6-foot-3, 210-pounds with a fluid swing with present strength, especially to the pull side. Kashuba was consistently on the barrel throughout his round, and drove the ball with authority recording some of the highest batted ball data of the day, registering highs of 101.3 mph, while averaging 92.3 mph which was good for a hard hit rate of 72%.”

Patrick Nelson 1B / OF / Bartlett, IL / 2022; Elgin CC From 9/28/23: “Nelson is a barrel chested right-handed-hitter standing at 6-foot-2, 210-pounds that swings with intent. Throughout BP Nelson was consistently on the barrel producing loud contact and driving baseballs to his pull side. Also producing some impressive batted ball metrics, Nelson recorded highs of 100.6 mph and averaged 95.2 mph throughout his round along with some of the highest bat speeds of the day averaging 80.5 mph with a max of 85.5 mph.”

Angelo Luna OF / RHP / St. Laurence , IL / 2022 Rankings  StateRank: 57 / POS: 11 From 10/2/23: “Luna is an intriguing R/R athlete in the outfield standing at 6-foot, 195-pounds. During batting practice, the strong 6-foot-2, 210-pound R/R utility mainly hit line drives up the middle and to the pull-side, showing the ability to lift the ball at times with authority. Cantu did not hit a single batted ball in-play under 95 mph leading to a tallied average EV of 96.4 mph, with a max of 100.1 mph. Defensively, Cantu worked out in the outfield and at first base showing a loose and fluid arm at both spots, with his throws being accurate and around the bag. Cantu rounded out his performance at the event with a 7.07 second 60.”

Carter Hall C / 2B / Champaign Central, IL / 2022 From 10/2/23: “Hall stands in at a strong 5-foot-10, 185-pounds, impressing with both his bat and his arm throughout the workout. During BP, Hall posted a 98 mph max EV and an average batted ball distance of 302 feet. Defensively, Russo has a short and whippy arm that posted a 79 mph max velocity from the crouch paired with a pop-time as low as 1.90.”

Noah Chase 3B / RHP / Illinois Valley Central, IL / 2022; Morton JC From 10/2/23: “Chase stands in at 5-foot-11, 215-pounds, performing well at the plate and on the bump. At the plate, Chase is a right-handed hitter who has a strong and direct swing path with the intent to lift the ball. He posted a max EV of 96.9 mph and a max distance of 343 feet - also boasting a max bat speed of 81.5 mph. Israel Delgado SS / C / Sandburg, IL / 2022 From 10/3/23: “...is a top returner for the Golden Eagles, turning in a .327 batting average in 49 at-bats last spring. Strong right-handed swing that uses the ground through impact, likes to go the other way with line-drives, Delgado reached up to 96.3 mph for his max EV with a max distance of 367’. Delgado showed clear feel for the infield with soft hands and fluid footwork, moving well to both sides of his glove. Well above-average arm, reaching up to 92 mph across the diamond with life out of the hand and carry.”

Grant Garrett OF / C / Grayslake North, IL / 2022 From 10/3/23: “...is another top returner for the Eagles, hitting his way to a .314 batting average in 86 at-bats last spring with nine doubles, 27 RBIs and 23 stolen bases. Arm played with noticeable life and carry through his target, topping out at 90 mph while consistently placing accurate throws on the bag."

The 6-foot, 195-pound sophomore worked on the barrel to the middle-in part of the field consistently from a leveraged and balanced right-handed swing. Pegg consistently found the barrel, averaging 89.4 mph per batted ball while squaring his firmest ball up at 93.4 mph, and he also produced the event’s third-furthest batted ball (363 feet). He looked the part at a few spots defensively, starting behind the plate, where he was accurate and on the bag from the chute. His hardest throw (T80 mph) and top pop time (1.94) led this event’s group of backstops. Pegg worked out on the infield too, where he showed natural footwork feel and soft hands to pair that should profile at either corner spot at the next level.”

Odeshoo was quick behind the dish, turning in the best pop time range of the event at 1.93-2.03 seconds, pairing that with a strong arm at 79 mph.”

Offensively, Kalinowicz swung a strong left-handed bat that created some of the days top batted ball metrics. During his round his average exit velocity was 87.5 mph, with his hardest ball coming off at 96.1 mph and his furthest batted ball traveled an estimated distance of 335 feet, too."

Cole Ratliff OF / OF / Fremd, IL / 2022 From 10/19/23: “Built at an athletic 6-foot, 185-pounds, Ratliff started his day by clocking in the fastest 60-yard dash time of the day at 6.91 where he reached a top speed of 19.9 mph. Offensively, he created some noteworthy Blast metrics from his quick right-handed swing, averaging a hand speed of 25.0 mph and a bat speed of 83.6 mph, both of which were event highs. As for his batted ball metrics, his hardest hit ball of his round came off at 95.7 mph and he averaged 86.2 mph, too. Defensively, he is an athletic mover in the outfield and also topped at 87 mph on his hardest throw home.”
