The Winter College Prospect Showcase took place on Sunday, January 24 at Legends Sports Academy in Louisville and afforded nearly 60 players from around the state the opportunity to showcase their abilities. The event included many players attending their first PBR event while others improved on their performances at previous events.

The following is a look at the group of Corner Infielders who attended the event. This is position analysis only. Those outfielders who also pitched at the event will have their pitching performance featured in a subsequent article.

Corner Infielders

Brandon Pfaadt, RHP/3B, Trinity, 2017
Home-1^st: 4.88, Position Velocity:  IF-88, Exit Velocity: 88
6-foot-1, 185-pound right-handed hitter with strong/athletic frame, hits from an open stance and uses a big leg kick and rhythmic hand load, explodes with lower half to generate bat speed through the zone, creates lift at contact and shows power to all fields, consistently squared the baseball in his round of BP. Shows good athleticism at the hot corner with soft hands and fluid lateral movement, gets the ball across the infield with a long high-3/4 release, registered the top infield velocity of the event with carry across the diamond.

Dallas Glass, 1B/RHP, Pleasure Ridge Park, 2019
Home-1^st: 5.01, Position Velocity:  IF-76, Exit Velocity: 86
6-foot-1, 190-pound, physically advanced right-handed hitter hits from a wide base with minimal stride, uses some pre-pitch hand movement as a timing mechanism that quiets down on the pitch, uses lower half well and shows well above average bat speed for age, flashes gap-to-gap power, strong kid, ball jumps off his barrel. Shows some athleticism around the first base bag, soft hands, good arm strength. Has the potential to be a high-level player in the 2019 class.

Maclaine Morris, RHP/3B, Henderson County, 2018
Home-1^st: 4.57, Position Velocity:  IF-82, Exit Velocity: 76
Right-handed hitter hits from a balanced stance, utilizes a slight hand load and short stride to initiate swing, maintains excellent balance through contact, line drive type hitter with a gap to gap approach, hit several hard line drives to the middle of the field in his round. Shows athletic corner actions with sure hands, good lateral movement, long exchange with a long high-3/4 release, shows good arm strength that plays well on the left side of the infield.

Noah Nelson, 1B/RHP, St Xavier, 2019
Home-1^st: 5.19, Position Velocity:  IF-72, Exit Velocity: 75
6-foot-1, 195-pound right-handed hitter with physically advanced frame for age, starts in a balanced stance and loads front foot back, initiates swing with a fairly long stride, wraps bat in load but gets the barrel through the zone with strong lower half and hands, ball jumps off his barrel showing good power for age, showed better bat speed in BP than exit velocity would indicate. Defensively, shows average movement and hands, long high-3/4 release produced a lot of accurate throws across the infield, arm is athletic and shows above average arm strength for age, will be a class of 2019 player to keep an eye on.

Seth Hall, 3B, Bethlehem, 2019
Home-1^st: 5.68, Position Velocity:  IF-68, Exit Velocity: 81
6-foot-2, 210-pounds, right-handed hitter hits from a balanced stance, loads front foot back with a long stride to initiate swing, occasional arm bar creates some length in swing, uses strength well and shows some power, a lot of moving parts created occasional timing issues but ball jumped off the barrel on several occasions. Uses a long exchange and high-3/4 release to get the ball across the infield, average arm strength, will need to work on agility and lateral movement defensively.

Bryson Jones, LHP/1B, Covington Catholic, 2019
Home-1^st: 5.32, Position Velocity:  IF-67, Exit Velocity: 61
5-foot-9, 150-pound left-handed hitter hits from a balanced stance, brings front foot back slightly in load and initiates swing with a mid-length stride, has a solid swing plane on pitches middle-in, swing can get long on pitches away, showed a middle to opposite field approach, has a solid offensive foundation to build upon as he gets physically stronger. Showed soft hands defensively with fairly good athleticism for age, current arm strength is average.

Chase Arehart, RHP/3B, Cooper, 2017
Home-1^st: 5.02, Position Velocity:  IF-66, Exit Velocity: 75
6-foot-5, 185-pound right-handed hitter hits from a balanced stance, uses a short stride as hands load back, arm bar creates some length in uphill swing path, flashes occasional power when lower and upper half are in sync. Showed decent lateral movement and average hands, uses a long high-3/4 release to get the ball across the infield with some accuracy, can improve body control and ability to throw on the move, arm strength needs improvement for the left side of the infield.
