2020 Florida ProCase Preview
May 28, 2020
We are excited to be hosting the 2020 PBR Florida ProCase tomorrow, May 29th at Jackie Robinson. This event will feature 50+ of the top 2021 and 2022 prospects from the state of Florida and even Puerto Rico. The players will run through a pro-style workout, which will be followed by a simulated game that we will be broadcasting live on Twitter. Make sure you are following us @PBRFlorida to watch the broadcast. Today, I will be giving you a quick preview of the players that will be in attendance at the 2020 PBR Florida ProCase.
The 2020 Florida ProCase is loaded with talent at every position. The event will feature 36 Division 1 commits, as well as some of the top uncommitted prospects in the state. Starting with our pitchers. The top ranked arm in attendance is 2021 RHP Tyler Dietz (USF). Dietz was up to 94 this spring and is No. 9 in our Florida 2021 rankings. Another power righty in attendance will be uncommitted 2021 Alden Segui. Segui runs his fastball in the mid 90’s and is one of the top uncommitted arms in the country. 2021 RHP Connor Manning (USF) and 2021 RHP Sebastian Martinez will be two interesting arms to watch for. Both have seen a jump in their velocity over the last year. 2021 RHP Ethan Wood (Louisville) will be an interesting arm to follow as he brings his mid 90’s fastball all the way from the state of Kentucky. Rounding out our right-handers are four talented uncommitted arms who shouldn't stay uncommitted for long in Marcos Gamboa, Dylan Jacobs, Chandler Marsh, and Reece Soper. For our southpaws, we have 2022 Florida commit Landon Moran, as well as 2019 Future Gamer and UCF commit Dominic Castellano. Rounding out our LHP’s is 2021 Stetson commit Dillon Haines.
We have nine of the best 2021 catchers in the state of Florida coming to the ProCase. That group is headlined by Jayden Melendez (FIU), who ranks No. 13 in our Florida 2021 rankings. Following Melendez, is Florida commit Rene Lastres and FSU commits Jaime Ferrer and Satchell Norman. The talent at the catcher position continues with UNC commit Dylan King, USF commit Tayden Hall, and Wake Forest commit Gio Cueto. Rounding out the catchers is UCF commit Andrew Sundean and 2019 Future Gamer Broedy Poppell.
Moving on to our corner infielders where at first base we have 2021 FSU commits Cade Bush and Aiden Mastantuno. 2022 Miami commit Hunter Russell and 2019 Future Gamer William Hagen round out our first basemen. We have a talented group of third basemen headlined by 2021 NC State commit Tommy White. 2021 UCF commits Cole Russo and Brogan Napier add to the talented group, as well as 2022 Vanderbilt commit Sal Stewart. Stewart is the No. 11 player in the 2022 class. 2021 FIU commit Zaylen Perry rounds out the third base group.
The middle-infield for the 2020 Florida ProCase is loaded with talent. The group features four shortstops in the top 30 of the PBR Florida 2021 rankings in Deric Fabian (Florida), Alex Ulloa (Oklahoma St.), Drake Varnado (Arkansas), and Jonathan Vastine (Vanderbilt). Adding to the group are four more committed 2021’s in Sean Ambrose (FIU), Connor Moore (FSU), Anthoine Gonzalez (Bethune-Cookman), and Hector Mangual (Missouri). We have five talented uncommitted middle-infielders who will be in attendance. Braden Calise, Justin Colon, Jake Mummau, and Marcus O’Malley, as well as Puerto Rico native Peter Alexander Vasquez Torres. Rounding out our middle-infielders is the lone 2022 of the group in Clemson commit Colby Shelton
Our final position group, and maybe the most talented is our outfielders. Headlining the outfield group are three 2021 Florida commits who find themselves in the top 14 of the PBR Florida 2021 rankings in Matthew Prevesk, Jay Allen, and Corey Robinson. Adding to the group are two 2019 Future Gamers in Clayton Hodges (Jacksonville) and Jack Cue, as well as Miami commit Kenneth Eccleston. Preseason All-State standout Emilio Portes (Bethune-Cookman) is another intriguing outfielder in attendance. Rounding out the outfielders are two uncommitted Puerto Rico natives in Diego Ortiz and Hector Candelas.
