Team Kansas Future Games Preview

From Wednesday, July 24th, through Sunday, July 28th, the Prep Baseball Future Games will take place at the state-of-the-art LakePoint Sports Complex in Emerson, GA. Since the event’s inception in 2011, the Prep Baseball Future Games has evolved into the biggest college scouting event in the country, with more than 375 college coaches in attendance each of the last two years. The bedrock of the event, the 16U division returns, and we will again feature a 14U Junior Future Games division.

Per usual, the Sunflower State will be proudly represented at the nation's top uncommitted event, with a multitude of the state's top talents making the trip down to LakePoint this upcoming week. Below you will learn more about the players that make up Team Kansas for the 2024 Future Games.
TEAM PREVIEW
Henry Bertoncin RHP / St. Pius X, MO / 2026A recent standout at the Missouri State Games, Bertoncin shows plenty of upside on the mound in a 5-foot-11, 160-pound frame with room for more to come. Fastball consistently plays at 85-87 mph while touching 89 mph throughout multiple looks this summer. Off of that he spins a sharp, high spin, low-70s breaking ball and fills up the zone with mid-to-upper 70s changeup. |
Benjamin Burton OF / Olathe East, KS / 20266-foot-4, 178-pound highly projectable frame. Currently the No. 17 prospect in the state. Swings a polished, long-levered right-handed barrel with gap-to-gap power and plenty more to come as he adds strength. Mature approach in the box with consistent feel for contact in game. 6.83 runner that is able to make an impact on the basepaths as well. |
Milo Burton RHP/3B / Olathe East, KS / 2026Long, athletic 6-foot-3, 189-pound frame that looks the part on both sides of the ball. One of the top two-way prospects in the region and currently ranked No. 6 overall in the Kansas class. Fluid right-handed swing with leverage that shows polish and feel at the plate. Has been consistently on the barrel in game across multiple looks this spring/summer. Strike thrower and controlled mover on the mound. Fastball plays in the mid-to-upper 80s with a horizontal moving slider that he is able to land for strikes. |
Ethan Carswell MIF / Blue Valley, KS / 2026Quick-twitch, 5-foot-10, 170-pound athlete. Smooth swinging switch hitter with an innate feel for the barrel. Able to generate easy bat speed in a compact swing that sees the ball jump off the barrel from both sides of the plate. Advanced defender up the middle with a gamer mentality. Chance to have true top-of-the-order potential at the next level. |
Roch Emanuel RHP / Piper, KS / 2026As strong and physical as they come at 6-foot-5, 245-pounds. Inherent arm strength with a fastball that plays in the mid-to-upper-80s. Commands the zone with two distinct breaking balls with a vertical breaking curveball with depth at 69-70 mph and a horizontal moving slider at 74-75 mph. Also, turns over a changeup in the low-70s. |
Cale Fossett CIF/RHP / Shawnee Mission North, KS / 20266-foot-3, 195-pounds. One of the top-two ways in the state. Produces effortless bat speed and pop at the plate, swinging a physical right-handed barrel that works back through the middle of the field. Has consistently shown the ability to elevate and drive the ball to all fields across several in-game looks. Runs his fastball up to 89 mph on the mound, consistently sitting in the mid-80s, with feel to throw a curveball/slider/changeup mix for strikes. |
Ben Graves MIF / Lawrence Free State, KS / 20265-foot-10, 165-pound lean, athletic frame with plenty of room to add size and strength. Polished offensive tool-set with an all-fields approach at the plate. Has consistently shown an advanced feel for the barrel to our staff throughout several looks this spring/summer. Reliable sure-handed actions up-the-middle on the infield; one of the top defenders in the state. |
Grayton Gross LHP / Salina Central, KS / 20266-foot-1, 200-pound frame with plenty of upside. Coming off an impressive spring with Salina Central where he stood out to our staff, shutting down the No. 1 team in 5A on the mound at the state tournament. Fastball plays in the mid-80s, reaching 87 mph across several looks this summer. Spins two distinct 2,300+ RPM breaking balls for strikes while also turning over a low spin changeup in the upper 70s |
Max Hamilton RHP / Olathe West, KS / 2026Physical 6-foot-2, 208-pound build. A premier arm in the state that is coming off a dominant spring with Olathe West, allowing just nine earned runs over 44.2 innings of work, good for a 1.41 ERA. Features a fastball from a low ¾ arm slot that has been up to 92 mph with a considerable amount of late life through the zone, creating tough at bats for hitters. Off of that he spins a slider in the mid-to-upper 70s and a tumbling changeup that plays with depth in the mid-70s. |
Luke Hanahan OF/RHP / Blue Valley Southwest, KS / 2026Packed with athleticism and lean strength in a 6-foot, 165-pound frame. Continues to impress our staff across several looks, including most recently at the Kansas City Top Prospect Games. Impact left-handed bat with advanced bat speed that lines balls from gap-to-gap. Consistently produces loud barrels, easily reaching mid-90s exit velocities in our most recent look. Ran a 6.92 60 and was up to 88 mph from the outfield. Can also run his fastball up to 87 mph on the mound. |
James Hunt RHP / Blue Valley West, KS / 2026Considerable upside on the mound in a 6-foot-3, 188-pound frame with strength throughout the lower half. Served as a top of the rotation arm on the 6A runner-up Blue Valley West squad this spring. Moves with intent on the mound. Fastball plays in the upper-80s with natural arm-side run and ride through the top of the zone. Fills up the zone with a tight 2,300+ RPM spin slider in the upper-70s and a firm low-80s changeup. |
Blake Jay MIF / Mill Valley, KS / 20266-foot, 165-pound upside athlete. Showed well recently at our Building Champions Scout Day earlier this summer, repeatedly finding the barrel with a short, rhythmic swing from the right side of the plate. Polished, fluid, high IQ defender on the infield with easy arm strength (88 mph). Ability to impact the game on the basepaths with a 6.83 60 time. |
Otto Knust RHP / Shawnee Mission South, KS / 2026Physical 6-foot-4, 210-pound frame with strength throughout. Has come away from this summer as one of the biggest winners in the class. Clean, explosive arm action that has run his fastball up to 93 mph this summer, pitching in the upper 80s/low-90s. Able to maintain fastball arm speed on a changeup with heavy fade at 75-78 mph. Flashed feel to land a low 70s breaking ball for strikes |
Jackson Lucht C/OF / Mill Valley, KS / 2026Compact, 6-foot-1, 225-pound build with present strength. Swings a strong, aggressive right-handed barrel with quick hands and effortless power, naturally elevating balls to the pullside with mid-to-upper-90s exit velocity. Has shown feel to hit in game across looks both this spring and summer. |
Carson May C / Olathe East, KS / 2026Strength-filled, 6-foot-3, 210-pound frame that has consistently been a standout on the spring/summer circuit this year. No. 4 prospect in the Kansas class. Swings one of the most physical right-handed bats in the state. Quick, strong hands with advanced bat speed in the box, showing the ability to drive the ball to all fields with authority across multiple looks. Strong, accurate arm behind the plate (T81 mph) with 1.85-1.92 pop times, chance to stick at the next level. |
Max McKenna RHP / Shawnee Mission South, KS / 20266-foot-3, 180-pound, highly-projectable frame. Jumped onto our radar after a breakout spring on the mound for Shawnee Mission South. Polished strike thrower with a clean arm action that continues to add velocity. Fastball plays in the mid-to-upper 80s with a tight, short wrinkle slider in the low-70s. Also, throws a low-spin changeup with fade in the upper-70s/low-80s. |
Danny Napier III C/1B / Louisburg, KS / 2026Compact, strong, 6-foot-2, 248-pound build. Possesses some of the rawest power from the right-side of the plate in the state, reaching exit velocities upwards of 102 mph in our most recent look at the Kansas City Top Prospect Games. Obvious arm strength from behind the plate and on the infield. High motor player that is a 6.96 runner as well. |
Sawyer Newton MIF / Manhattan, KS / 20266-foot-2, 172-pound frame with lean strength and plenty of upside. A high follow prospect on both sides of the ball that was a standout earlier this winter year at our The Barn Scout Day and has continued to impress our staff ever since. Swings a quick, explosive left-handed barrel that sprays line drives to all fields with a high feel for the barrel. Quick, sure-handed defender up the middle with arm strength to pair (T87 mph). 6.81 runner. |
Roy Roseman C / Olathe West, KS / 20266-foot, 185-pound frame with strength throughout. Coming off a breakout spring season with Olathe West which saw him hit .405 with 11 extra base hits and 25 RBIs, earning 1st-Team All State honors. Smooth swinging switch hitter with easy pop, all-fields approach with advanced feel for the barrel. Advanced defender both behind the plate and at first base with plenty of arm strength to pair. |
Grey Sanders RHP / Mulvane, KS / 2026Strong-bodied athlete at 6-foot, 190-pounds, ranked No. 8 in the Kansas class. Produces effortless velocity on the mound, sitting in the upper-80s with his fastball, reaching 92 at our Wichita Preseason ID this winter, playing with natural carry through the zone. Has shown advanced feel to land a sharp, swing-and-miss curveball in the mid-70s to go along with a low-spin changeup. |
Zane Shaw RHP / Lawrence Free State, KS / 2026Strong, 6-foot-1, 196-pound frame with plenty of upside. Put together an impressive spring campaign with Lawrence Free State, carrying that momentum over into the summer where he has become one of the fastest rising arms in the state. Has ran his fastball up to 92 mph, consistently pitching in the upper-80s to low-90s with more to come. Spins a sharp, upper-60s curveball with depth. Able to command both sides of the plate with all three of his pitches. |
Brady Stewart INF/OF St. Thomas Aquinas, KS / 2026Lean, athletic 6-foot, 175-pound frame. Had a breakout spring, helping lead St. Thomas Aquinas to the 5A state championship with a dominant performance in the state tournament. Mature approach in the box with an all fields approach, ability to handle high end arms. Strong, quick swing that works back through the middle of the field with high feel for the barrel. Clean actions on the infield with a live arm (T87 mph) that can translate to the outfield as well. |
Tucker Thompson LHP / Gardner-Edgerton, KS / 20265-foot-11, 160-pounds with plenty of room to add on. Top left-handed pitcher in the state’s soon-to-be junior class, ranked No. 7 overall. Makes for an uncomfortable at bat for hitters, running his fastball up 91 mph, pitching in the upper-80s from a near sidearm slot with plenty of arm side action. Spins a firm, sweeping slider in the upper 70s as his main offspeed offering, pairing that with a mid-70s changeup with strong arm side fade. |
Drew Yockey 1B/RHP / Mill Valley, KS / 20266-foot-3, 210-pounds. Physical right-handed bat that has consistently performed throughout our looks this spring and summer. Power upside at the plate, swing works inside-out through the ball with effortless pull-side pop that has shown up in game. Reliable, athletic defender at first base. Can also run his fastball into the mid-80s on the mound with feel to command a curveball/changeup mix for strikes. |
