UNCOMMITTED 2025S
Brady Booth SS / RHP / Tremont High School, IL / 2025Team 1 From 5/15/24: “Uncommitted. Started at shortstop and batted seventh. Stands in an athletic 6-foot, 160-pound frame with room to add strength. Stood out defensively in IO with fluid, athletic actions up the middle, moved well around the ball, showed soft, clean hands with a quick transfer. Showed a loose, easy arm that played from multiple angles. A simple swing from the right-side of the plate, tallied one hit on the day with a walk. A follow prospect in Illinois’ junior class.” |
Enrique Villanueva C / RHP / St. Laurence, IL / 2025Team 1 From 7/11/24: “RHP/C Enrique Villanueva (St. Laurence, 2025) had an impressive showing in multiple aspects Tuesday. On the mound, the right-hander worked exclusively out of the stretch into a medium balance point, moving into a drop/drive lower-half that stayed in-line down the mound. His arm is long and loose throughout it’s path, delivering his arsenal from a ¾ slot. His fastball played mostly straight with some life out of the hand at 80-84 mph, topping out at 85 mph. He flashed some feel for both a curveball and slider, both playing at 68-70 mph with slider having more lateral action. His final offering was a changeup with slight running action at 75-76 mph. On the other side of the ball, the strong right-handed hitter was on the barrel to the whole field, utilizing a flat bat path. He also recorded as low as 2.01 for his pop-time in the defensive segment.” |
Jackson Beiler RHP / Mt. Zion, IL / 2025Team 2 From 3/30/24: “Uncommitted. Lean, loose-levered 6-foot-3, 175-pound frame with physical upside. Started at shortstop and hit in the three-hole for the Braves. Flashed upside at the plate from a fast, level right-handed swing with extension through contact. Barreled a ball to deep center field with authority for a loud lineout, got off a handful of intriguing hacks throughout the day as well. Raw mover with developing footwork feel on the infield, did make an athletic run through play to throw out a baserunner in game one. Also a follow on the mound, pitched in the low-80s at one of our events last year.” |
Justin Garcia Hernandez OF / 3B / St. Patrick, IL / 2025Team 2 From 4/20/24: “Uncommitted, currently ranked No. 199 in the state. Stands in at a physical and mature 6-foot-3, 243-pounds. Batted out of the leadoff spot and played left field for the Shamrocks. Led the game off with a first-pitch single through the left side showing the barrel strength we’ve seen out of him in the past. Later in the game he sent a deep drive to left field for a long out but continued to show the ability to be on the barrel from the right side. Garcia Hernandez is a strong right-handed bat to continue to keep tabs on this spring.” |
Connor MacMillan OF / SS / Normal University, IL / 2025Team 2 From 4/12/24: “Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 179 in Illinois’ junior class. Started in centerfield and batted second. MacMillan is an athletic L/R outfielder that showed quality actions during IO, showing range with quality arm strength. A left-handed hitter at the plate, MacMillan hit a triple in the game, scored one run and walked once.” |
Owen Walsh RHP / St Ignatius, IL / 2025Team 2 From 9/20/23: “...is a name our staff has gotten multiple looks at over the past year and he’s steadily improved within that period. He’s a clean mover on the mound with a fluid arm to pair, all while using minimal effort. His fastball sat 82-84 mph and touched 85 mph, and he also mixed in a breaking ball that sat in the mid-70s with some downward shape.” |
Gavin Bailey OF / 2B / Mahomet-Seymour, IL / 2025Team 3 From 4/17/24: “Uncommitted. Bailey had an impressive week at the plate going 10-for-19 with three home runs, one double, 13 RBIs, seven runs scored and four stolen bases. His most impressive game of the week came in their 4-3 win over Effingham. He hit a grandslam in the top of the seventh, and he finished the day 2-for-3 with a grandslam, four RBIs, one run scored and a walk. In their 9-0 win over Charleston, Bailey went 2-for-3 with a home run, four RBIs, two runs scored and a walk, and he added another home run in their 11-1 win over Charleston, finishing the game 1-for-3 with a home run, four RBIs, two runs scored and a walk. Bailey is hitting .476 on the season.” |
Bo Gomric SS / 2B / Althoff Catholic, IL / 2025Team 3 From 2/17/24: “...is another ranked player inside the 2025 class that impressed on Saturday. Gomric showed athleticism in all three facets of the workout, starting the day off with the fastest 60 time of the event at 6.95 seconds while also jumping 30.6” in the vertical jump. The right-handed hitter then had a loud round of bp where he was consistently on the barrel (75% line drives) to the middle and pull-side parts of the field, with a max EV of 96.1 mph (avg 89.9 mph). Defensively, Gomric showed athletic actions that could see him stick on the dirt at the next level, playing with confident feet and hands, to pair with an arm that showed to be accurate from multiple arm slots.” |
Owen Roberts SS / RHP / Waubonsie Valley, IL / 2025Team 3 From 2/19/24: “…is an uncommitted two-way to know from the event. Listed at 5-foot-11, 175-pounds, Roberts has a loose and balanced swing, looking to keep the ball on a line with extension through the zone, reaching up to 97.9 mph for his max EV with impressive hand-speed (22.5 mph avg.) and bat-speed (75 mph avg.). He’s an above-average athlete, running to a 6.96 in the 60, easily translating to the infield where he has a quick first step with easy range to pair with steady hands. He displayed a strong arm across the diamond, topping out at 85 mph. His arm-strength easily translated over to the mound, where he displayed quality feel over his three-pitch mix. His fastball topped out at 88 mph with over 2300 rpm at times, playing with carry and run. He also went to a low-70s slider (2300+ rpm) and slight running changeup at 72-74 mph to round out his repertoire.” |
Gavin Lawrence RHP / SS / Washington, IL / 2025Team 4 From 6/26/24: “The right-hander fired a complete game shutout, striking out 13 along the way. His fastball cruised around 83-85 mph, topping a 86; setting up a shorter 10/4 breaking ball at 72-74 mph that he could land for strikes. Lawrence (Washington 2025) then showed well at the plate on Sunday morning. The strong right-handed hitter barreled up the baseball a couple times, even hitting an inside-the-park grand slam late in the game to help push the Outlaws to victory. Lawrence finished the game 2-for-4 with a home run, five RBI, and a run scored.” |
Nick Szalony SS / 2B / Mundelein, IL / 2025Team 4 From 6/3/24: “...showed well in an in-game look this spring and carried it over to the event. Listed at 5-foot-11, 147-pounds, Szalony has athleticism and upside throughout his game. Offensively, the right-handed hitter has a clean swing with quick hands, stayed on the barrel to all fields and flashed sneaky, easy pop at times. Defensively, he moves with ease and flow to his game on the infield. The glove is soft with a quick release and strong arm that flashed carry at 80 mph. 7.00 runner in the 60.” |
Filippo Baratta OF / 2B / Lincoln-Way Central, IL / 2025Team 5 From 5/6/24: “Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 112 in the state, and stands in at a wiry 5-foot-11. Started in right field and batted ninth for the Knights, impressing with his actions at the plate. The right-handed hitter has a calm presence in the box, with some rhythm in his load pre-pitch. He uses a short leg lift stride, before swinging with an athletic and slightly uphill path that was on the barrel a couple times. In his first at-bat, he laced a hard line drive back up the middle into center field, showing a simple middle of the field approach throughout the game afterward. Baratta finished the day 1-for-3.” |
Dane Hrasky SS / 2B / O'Fallon, IL / 2025Team 5 From 5/23/24: “Uncommitted, ranked No. 106 overall in the state’s soon-to-be senior class. Lean, wiry 6-foot, 155-pound athlete with quick twitch. Hit leadoff and started at second base in this look for O’Fallon. Simple and controlled operation at the plate, hands start back with minimal movement at load, balanced. Works short and level through the zone, stays on plane. Sprayed a two-strike, two-run single into left field for the Panthers in the bottom of the second inning. Easy, athletic mover on the infield with soft hands and clean footwork. Has the actions to stick at either shortstop or second base at the next level and be an asset, with the athleticism to roam around center field as well. Able to impact the game positively in multiple ways. Finished his junior year slashing .360/.470/.559 with 12 extra-base hits, 10 of them triples, with 26-of-30 stolen bases.” |
Zach Pomatto C / C / Joliet Catholic, IL / 2025Team 5 From 3/28/24: “Uncommitted. Listed at a strong-bodied 6-foot-1, 215-pounds, strength in the lower-half. Started behind the plate and hit out of the two-hole for the Hillmen, finishing the day 1-for-3 with an opposite field single and two RBIs. The left-handed hitter has a simple and repeatable load, creating some separation in the hands into footstike, showing mature feel to use the whole field and take the ball where it's pitched with his opposite field single on a fastball that caught the outer-half of the plate. Behind the plate, Pomatto puts his body on the line regularly, blocking balls up to both sides regardless of if anyone is on base, high motor. Arm plays true with carry on throws to second, clean actions out of the chute. Scrappy backstop that has shown well multiple times in front of our staff now.” |
Sam Driscoll OF / LHP / Mt. Zion, IL / 2025Team 6 From 3/30/24: “Uncommitted. 5-foot-9, 163-pound athlete with compact strength. Came away a winner from the Preseason All-State this winter and impressed during this live look. Started in center field and hit leadoff for the Braves, also pitched in the second game of this conference double-header. Polished at the plate in all aspects of his game. Doesn’t expand the strike zone, swung and missed one time in the strike zone in four at-bats, confident takes. Stays short and direct to contact, keeps a level barrel with length through the hitting zone. High bat-to-ball skills, profiles as a true top-of-the-order left-handed bat. Had two hits in this look - a backspun double to kickoff a run scoring rally and a two strike RBI single to the opposite field after working a deep count. Has a complete understanding of himself and his offensive game. Showed above-average foot speed in center field with a quick first step and accurate rountes. Arm played true with carry in I/O and showed twice in game, both on throws to home. Took the mound in the second game of the double-header, allowing two unearned runs on three hits over four innings of work, striking out five while walking two. Athletic mover down the mound, quick arm that works from a high ¾ window. Fastball touched 86 mph earlier, pitching in the low-to-mid-80s. Spun two breaking balls, both in the low-70s; a more vertically spun curveball off a 1/7 axis and sweeping, more slurvy-type slider with true lateral tilt.” |
Tyler Powell RHP / Edwardsville, IL / 2025Team 7 From 6/13/24: “Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 132 in the state, Powell came in to close the game out for Edwardsville and was impressive in his brief stint. The 6-foot, 185-pound athletic mover featured a fastball that was clean, with life out of the hand at 84-86 mph (T87). Powell went right at hitters with his fastball and challenged the opposing hitters with it in the zone. He would go on to punch out three batters in his lone inning of work; allowing one hit and a walk to close out the victory for Edwardsville.” |
Joseph Stewart RHP / Mattoon, IL / 2025Team 5 From 4/27/24: “Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 65 in Illinois’ 2025 class. Stands in a well-built frame at 6-foot-1, 205-pounds. Started on the mound for Mattoon in game one of the day and threw a no-hitter with eight strikeouts, five walks and one run allowed. Heavy usage of a fastball that sat in the low-80s throughout the game, touching 86 mph often, with arm-side run at times. Mixed in a curveball with 11/5 shape, sitting 68-71 mph. An uncommitted name to know in the state’s junior class.” |
Matthew Devoy RHP / OF / Lemont, IL / 2025Team 8 From 4/27/24: “Uncommitted. 5-foot-11, 165-pound, right-handed hitting, two-way prospect. Stood out first, in pre-game in right-field. Moved with pace and athleticism, played through the baseball in rhythm and showed off a strong arm that played with life and carry. Later came on to pitch in relief. Athletic, quick arm and fastball played with some jump through the zone at 83-86 mph. Eye-opener was a tight, sharp, late-biting slider at 75 mph with 2240+ rpm. Struggled to control the offering but the action is well above average. Worked one inning, walked two, gave up a hit but struck out one to wiggle out of a jam. Athletic uncommitted 2025 to follow.” |
Yunus Hamideh RHP / RHP / Adlai E Stevenson High School, IL / 2025Team 8 From 2/10/24: “...stands out immediately thanks to his 6-foot-7, 205-pound frame, and he’s made some significant strides since the summer, seeing an eight mph jump since our last look in June. He has long/loose levers, helping him to create extension out front with a low ¾ slot. His fastball cruised around 84-86 mph, consistently pouring it in for strikes with over 2,500 RPM at times and a foot of run on average. His slider has some out-pitch potential with sharp 10/4 action, kept mostly down below the zone at 71-74 mph with around 2,300 RPM. His last offering was a changeup at 78-80 mph, pulling it off to his glove-side but maintaining fastball intent. Definite follow for this coming spring.” |
Matthew Swartz OF / LHP / Monticello, IL / 2025Team 8 From 4/22/24: “Uncommitted. Listed at 5-foot-11, 170-pounds with athleticism in the frame. Started in left field and batted second for the Sages. Showed well in IO, moving well around the outfield with an accurate arm that plays with above-average arm strength. Didn’t record a hit in the game but impressed in his first at bat, barreling a 92 mph fastball to the right fielder for a line-out. An uncommitted junior that continues to impress our staff in the few looks that we have had.” |
Miles Woolsey RHP / OF / Mahomet-Seymour, IL / 2025Team 9 From 7/19/24: “…is another uncommitted arm to know from Tuesday’s event. Woolsey stands in an athletic frame at 6-foot, 181-pounds with strength, too. He’s a loose, athletic mover on the mound with a clean, quick arm path out of a ¾ slot. He showed an impressive three-pitch mix, starting with an 86-87 mph fastball with quality spin (avg. 2217 rpm). He showed a low-70s slider with short, horizontal actions and an average of 2337 rpm. Arguably his best off-speed pitch was his change-up, which sat 72-74 mph with heavy fade, producing an average of 20.5 inches of horizontal movement. A must-follow uncommitted arm in Illinois’ incoming senior class.” |
Hayden Bernreuter OF / LHP / Triad, IL / 2025Team 11 From 2/24/24: “...took one of the louder rounds of BP on the day. Listed at 5-foot-10, 203-pounds, the left-handed hitter reached up to 103.2 mph for his max EV with an average of 95.8 mph, registering most of his batted-balls over 95 mph with a max distance of 373’. His BLAST metrics were off the charts, averaging 23 mph for his hand-speed (T24.1 mph), 77 mph for his bat-speed (T80.5 mph) and 22.2 G’s for his rotational acceleration (T25.8 G’s). He displayed a well above-average arm from the outfield, topping out at 90 mph with a crow hop.” |
Christian Clark SS / 2B / St. Rita, IL / 2025Team 11 From 6/26/24: “Uncommitted. Athletic 5-foot-11, 150-pound frame that played second base during the game. Clark contributed on both sides of the ball in Top Tier’s 7-4 win Friday morning. Defensively, displayed range to both sides with the ability to throw off balance from multiple arm angles, collecting a pair of putouts. Offensively, he has a high leg kick, efficient load, balanced lower half, and opposite field approach, smoking a two-RBI opposite field double in the second inning, putting his team up 4-0 at the time. A speedy and smooth moving player to monitor over the next year.” |
Luke Gallet 1B / RHP / Dwight High School, IL / 2025Team 11 From 3/19/24: “Uncommitted. 6-foot-4, 215.2-pound frame with athleticism and strength throughout. Started on the mound for the Trojans and threw a complete game, struck out six, walked two, allowed one earned run and six hits. Clean and uptempo delivery on the mound, minimal effort, repeats. Loose, easy arm out of a ¾ slot. Continuing to improve as a pitcher, showed confidence and the ability to attack hitters. Likely has more in the tank as he touched 87 mph with his fastball twice, but sat mostly 82-85 mph through the first few innings. Mixed in a curveball that sat 68-70 mph with 11/5 shape. An uncommitted arm-to-know moving forward.” |
Nolan Maciejewski OF / LHP / Tinley Park High School, IL / 2025Team 11 From 5/1/24: “Uncommitted. Maciejewski was mentioned within the Week 3 Diamond Notes after an impressive week. He’s at it again, going 13-for-22 with one home run, one triple, three doubles, eight RBIs, 14 runs scored, three stolen bases and one walk. In their 9-8 win over Bremen, he went 4-for-5 with one RBI and two runs scored. His most impressive performance came in their 14-3 win over Morgan Park, going 3-for-4 with a home run, triple, four RBIs and four runs scored. He also started on the mound in the game and threw four innings, struck out five, walked three, allowed one run and three hits.” |
Tyler Humphrey C / OF / Washington Comm High School, IL / 2025Team 12 From 2/21/24: “...showed well at this very event a year ago, and it was much of the same this time around. Currently ranked No. 104 in the state, the 6-foot, 200-pound right-handed hitter has loose, strong hands that work into a flat path, creating a max EV of 90 mph with a max distance of 344’. He had one of the better defensive showings on the day as well, working with a clean glove to hand operation with a quick transfer, gaining ground in-line to second on throws to create a pop-time as low as 1.97 seconds. His arm is also plenty strong, topping out at 79 mph from the chute. Uncommitted backstop to know in the state.” |
Noah Delgado OF / RHP / Glenbrook North High School, IL / 2025Team 13 From 2/11/24: “...showed off an impressive toolset over the weekend. Equipped with a strong-bodied, 6-foot, 200-pound frame, the left-handed hitter has an aggressive swing that created an EV as high as 96.7 mph with a 323’ max distance. He also showed well in the outfield, moving well for his size with fluid footwork and steady hands, reaching up to 90 mph from a crow hop. Also a 7.03 runner in the 60.” |
Max Wille OF / University High School, IL / 2025Team 13 From 5/15/24: “Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 196 in Illinois’ junior class. Started in center field and batted fourth. Stands in an athletic 6-foot, 167-pound frame with room for continued development. Led the way for the Pioneers, finished the day 3-for-3 with a double, one RBI and two runs scored. A left-handed hitter at the plate, has a fluid load with a toe-tap trigger, stays short and direct to the ball with a mostly flat path. An athletic mover in the outfield with quality range, Wille showed a strong arm on throws to home during IO. An uncommitted junior to follow in Illinois.” |
Lawson Alwan C / 1B / Peoria Notre Dame, IL / 2025Team 14 From 7/3/24: “Alwan showed well in Friday’s nightcap, standing in a strong, 5-foot-10, 189-pound frame. He started the game off with a barrel off the left-center wall for a stand-up double. He showed defensively, too, with quality receiving actions and a strong arm on throws down to second base. In his early Sunday morning game, Alwan continued to get good looks, going 2-for-3 with two singles. The lefty had rhythm and approach in the box. This was followed by a quick and direct swing that kept the barrel in the zone. His hands work well staying to the ball, helping him catch barrels and drive the ball. Alwan had a strong weekend and was a big factor in the success seen by the Canes squad.” |
Henry Johnson LHP / 1B / Glenbard West, IL / 2025Team 14 From 2/11/24: “A long, wiry build at 6-foot-5, 185-pounds, Johnson created all kinds of movement with his fastball and change-up. A loose, clean delivery with a quick arm out of a low ¾ slot, his fastball sat 81-84 mph, topping out at 84.8 mph, with -16.1 inches (avg.) of horizontal movement and 15.6 inches (avg.) of vertical movement, showing noticeable rise/run during the ‘pen. He maintained the same slot and arm speed as his fastball while throwing his change-up that sat 73-74 mph with -18.1 inches (avg.) of horizontal movement. He also mixed in a low-70s slider with a short, sweeping break. The levers, ease of delivery, quick arm, and movement on pitches makes Johnson an intriguing arm in the class.” |
Lucas Rink 3B / RHP / Wilmington, IL / 2025Team 14 From 8/1/24: “6-foot-1, 185-pounds. The left-handed hitter is an uncommitted bat to know in the state with some defensive versatility, seeing time both behind the plate and at third. Hit a home run on Thursday and followed up with a well-hit ball to deep left field for a fly out; loose, explosive hands work flat through the zone with easy jump off the barrel, especially to his pull-side. Rink is coming off an impressive spring campaign where he hit .400 with three home runs.” |
Bo Anselmi RHP / John Hersey High School, IL / 2025Team 15 From 2/25/24: “...popped up as yet another talented arm that Hersey HS will have at its disposal this spring. Anselmi has a 6-foot, 212-pound frame with a strong lower half and above-average stuff. His fastball played with some carry through the zone and averaged 2407 rpm. He flashed a slider and curveball to go along with his four-pitch arsenal with his slider showing quality action and tight, short depth at 73-74 mph, T2514 rpm. Impressive PBR debut for the uncommitted junior.” |
Madden Johnson RHP / SS / Mattoon, IL / 2025Team 17 From 6/18/24: “...is currently ranked No. 114 in the state’s soon-to-be senior class. Johnson showed well throughout the entirety of the event on Tuesday. At the plate, he showed loose, athletic hands from the left side. He also showed quality actions up the middle with soft hands, a clean transfer, and an accurate arm across the diamond. Johnson then hopped on the bump and showed to be one of the better arms in attendance. He is an athletic mover downhill with a quick and athletic arm to pair. He threw the event’s hardest fastball at 84 mph, while sitting 81-83 with sink (avg. 8.6” IVB), in the zone 75% of the time. He also showed a 69-71 mph changeup that flashed out-pitch potential with some fade at the bottom of the zone.” |
Brady Schallmoser OF / 1B / Downers Grove North, IL / 2025Team 17 From 2/24/24: “...continues to impress with his hit tool, taking an easy and loud round of BP. Listed at 6-foot-2, 192-pounds with added strength since our last look, he has rhythm in his hands that work into a flat path, staying through the zone and working on the barrel to the whole field; averaging 91.3 mph for his EV with a max of 94 mph. Upside left-handed bat with proven in-game success.” |
Eddie Olszta SS / 3B / Providence Catholic, IL / 2025Team 7 “Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 131 in Illinois’ 2025 class. Started at second base and batted sixth. Stands in a strong and athletic 5-foot-10, 170-pound frame. Showed well at the plate, simple load with loose, athletic hands, showed bat speed at times. Tallied a double in his first at-bat of the day on a well-hit ball down the left field line, finished the day with a well-hit single with above-average bat speed on the hit, finished the day 2-for-3 with a double. Showed clean, defensive actions at second base with an accurate arm to pair.” |
Shea Glotzbach 3B / RHP / Lemont, IL / 2025Team 18 From 6/7/24: “Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 186 in the state’s junior class. Stands in an intriguing 6-foot-4, 195-pound frame with seemingly more to come. Started on the mound for Lemont and struck out three in five innings of work. Works out of a stretch-only delivery with a high leg lift, tall-and-fall down the mound and works in-line. Fastball sat 84-87 mph, topping out at 88 mph with mostly straight actions. Also mixed in a curveball in the mid-70s with 2200 rpm and a change-up at 72-73 mph with slight fade. An uncommitted name-to-know.” |
Matthew Steinberg 1B / RHP / St. Charles East, IL / 2025Team 19 From 6/5/24: “...is a 6-foot-3, 183-pound athletic mover to know from the event. From a quick, ¾ slot, his fastball sat 85-86 mph with some occasional ride through the zone. His curveball played at 65-67 mph with an average of -23.4” of horizontal movement, while his slider played in the zone 75% of the time at 71-77 mph.” |
Charlie Taczy RHP / 3B / Cary-Grove, IL / 2025Team 19 From 5/1/24: “Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 91 in the class of 2025. Listed at 6-foot, 155-pounds with a lean, athletic frame with room to add weight. The right-handed hitter got the start as the designated hitter and batted fourth in the lineup. Balance stance with a toe-tap trigger, consistent, compact swing through the zone, has the ability to hit to all fields. Taczy picked up two hits, going 2-for-4 on the day with a double. During his first at-bat, Taczy took an 88 mph fastball to left field for a single. Second at-bat picked up his second hit of the game on a 2-2 count, driving the baseball over the right fielder's head for a double. Taczy is currently batting .297 on the year to lead the team.” |
Wyatt Wawro OF / LHP / Downers Grove South, IL / 2025Team 20 (ProCase) From 5/8/24: “Uncommitted. Wawro had an impressive week at the plate going 10-for-15 with a triple, two doubles, eight RBIs and five runs scored, helping lead DGS to a 4-0 week. In their 11-1 win over Addison Trail, he went 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs. He capped off his week with a 3-for-4 performance, collecting a double, two RBIs and two runs scored in their 5-2 win over Glenbard West.” |
Josh Fleming SS / OF / York, IL / 2025Team 20 (ProCase) From 3/25/24: “Uncommitted. The No. 41 ranked player in the state turned in a strong day at the plate on Monday collecting two hits off of a high-level arm in the same class. The right-handed hitter has a simple, hitterish setup in the box standing in at a presently strong 6-foot-1, 185-pounds. He uses a leg kick trigger for timing to go with a flat swing path that works direct to the ball. Fleming also impressed with his aggressiveness at the plate, attacking fastballs early in counts. The three-hole hitter for the Dukes is a name to continue to follow in the state’s 2025 class.”
|
Cole Kenyon RHP / OF / Lake Zurich, IL / 2025Team 20 (ProCase) From 2/10/24: “...is another upside arm to know from Saturday, and he displayed the best spin-rates we saw all weekend. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound right-hander starts his arsenal with a fastball in the 85-87 mph range, spinning between 2300-2400 RPM with carry through the zone. His breaking balls are where we really see the spin take off, with his curveball coming in over 3,000 RPM at times, averaging 2,992 RPM and playing with sharp, 11/5 shape and depth. His slider has similar spin, topping out over 3,000 RPM with an average of 2,989 RPM, playing with more lateral action and late bite.” |
Brandon Menser RHP / 3B / Sesser Valier , IL / 2025Team 20 (ProCase) From 3/28/24: “One of the top uncommitted junior arms in Illinois, No. 31 overall on our recently updated 2025 rankings. Lean, lanky 6-foot-4, 180-pound multi-sport athlete that’s far away from what his future physical self will look like. Started on the mound for the Spartans on Thursday in a home contest against Nashville. Raw, upside, and athletic mover downhill. Short arm stroke, over-the-top slot, twitchy arm speed. Fastball touched 89 twice in the first, pitched at 86-88 mph through three innings of work. Played mostly straight with some downhill action to it at times. Curveball flashed swing-and-miss upside at 74-75 mph; tight 12/6 spin with big depth and sharp break at times. Battled through some defensive woes in this look and didn’t have his best stuff, but still holds considerable projection in all aspects to his game that make him a high-follow uncommitted arm in Illinois.” |
Chase Petersen OF / RHP / Glenbrook North, IL / 2025Team 20 (ProCase) From 5/16/24: “Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 64 in the state. Stands in at a physical and sturdy 5-foot-8, 179-pounds; started in center field and batted second for the Spartans. Petersen impressed all-around on Thursday and showed a versatile playstyle; in his first at-bat he swatted a solo shot to left-center field, the next half-inning he made a diving grab in the outfield, and in his final at-bat he laid down a well-placed bunt down the third base line for a single. The right-handed hitter has a crouched setup with rhythmic pre-pitch movement in his hands, that load back with a short stride. He has a strong, compact swing with a slightly uphill path that looks to elevate the baseball. Defensively, Petersen displayed the ability to cover ground to both his left and right, and also showed to be a savvy runner on the basepaths. The uncommitted junior will be one to continue to keep tabs on entering the summer.” |
Andrew Tay RHP / SS / Mt Zion, IL / 2025Team 20 (ProCase) From 7/17/24: “Uncommitted. 6-foot-2, 185-pound well-proportioned frame with all sorts of upside and room for added physicality. Threw well in a win for the Commodores on Thursday night. Athletic, up-tempo delivery, gets downhill with intent and stays through the baseball. Arm plays short and tight on the backside, finishing out of a fast over-the-top slot. Fastball touched 89 mph in the second inning, playing at 84-88 mph, and held plane at the top of the zone with real carry. Spun a tight, short wrinkle slider with some lateral tilt to it at 76-80 mph. Landed a curveball at 75-76 mph for strikes with more depth and arch to it. An upside arm from the central part of the state that’s just seemingly scratching the surface of what he’ll be at the next level.” |
