Alwan showed well in Friday’s nightcap, standing in a strong, 5-foot-10, 189-pound frame. He started the game off with a barrel off the left-center wall for a stand-up double. He showed defensively, too, with quality receiving actions and a strong arm on throws down to second base. In his early Sunday morning game, Alwan continued to get good looks, going 2-for-3 with two singles. The lefty had rhythm and approach in the box. This was followed by a quick and direct swing that kept the barrel in the zone. His hands work well staying to the ball, helping him catch barrels and drive the ball. Alwan had a strong weekend and was a big factor in the success seen by the Canes squad.
