On Oct. 20, the PBR Illinois hosted its final event of 2019, the Underclass Showcase, featuring over 110 of the state’s 2022 and 2023 prospects, as well as a handful of seventh- and eighth-grade players, at The MAX in McCook.

Last month, we shared our rapid analysis for this event inside our Quick Hits post, and took a statistical look at the day’s top performers inside our Stats Story. Monday marked the start of our position-by-position analysis, beginning with the day’s catchers, which led to the event’s outfielders and infielders. Today, we break down each of the arms who took the mound at this showcase and ranked the top-10 in both the 2022 and 2023 classes.

Crystal Lake South’s Ysen Useni topped the 2022 infielder board in yesterday’s analysis for his highly physical right-handed bat. Well, he uses his raw strength just as efficiently on the mound, too. The sophomore was up to 87 mph at this event and is among the top ‘22 follows in the state.

Topping the 2023 charts is the easy lefty from Plainfield East, Brady Louck. A lean, loose-levered southpaw who demonstrated above-average control and feel for his three-pitch arsenal. Louck’s future Plainfield North rival, Luke Brown, is another follow left-hander with an athletic 6-foot-1 frame equipped with a running fastball, up to 80 mph at the showcase.

A pair of Hinsdale Central freshman righties, Benjamin Oosterbaan and William Ho, also established themselves as follow arms inside the state’s 2023 class.
