No. 14 Homewood Flossmoor and No. 12 Lincoln Way Central squared off in this talent packed Power 25 game. Homewood Flossmoor used timely hitting and strong pitching to come away with the 8-0 win.

In the top of the sixth inning, Homewood Flossmoor (9-2) was leading 4-0 and looking to add some more insurance. Back-to-back walks from junior Charlie Faoro and senior Gallien Coupet, a Creighton commit, would set up Shane Jones at the plate. Jones, an uncommitted junior, went on to rip a double to left-field to score both Faoro and Coupet and make it 6-0 at the time. Will Goldberg followed up with a double down the right-field line to score Jones and make it 7-0. Cleveland Hardy proceeded to rip the third double of the inning to right field to bring home Goldberg and make it 8-0.

In the top of the fifth inning, Goldberg walked and came around the score to make it 3-0. Sophomore Michigan commit, Dillon Head, would come up a few spots later and beat out an infield single to set up junior Shai Robinson, an Illinois State commit. Robinson would go on to double to left field and score Head to make it 4-0 at the time.

Homewood Flossmoor was led on the mound by senior Chad Readey, a Northwestern commit. The 6-foot-8, 207-pound, Readey, went 5 strong innings scattering just two hits and striking out five. Readey featured a fastball that sat 83-85 mph with sink, as well as a changeup in the 74-76 mph range. His curveball was his best secondary offering this day, thrown with the same arm action as his fastball in the 68-70 mph range with sharp 11/5 action.

Senior Richard LaCien, a Lawrence University commit, came out of the pen for Lincoln Way Central and shut down the Vikings of Homewood Flossmoor for the last 1.2 innings, with all of his outs being recorded via the strikeout. The righthander sat 85-86 mph with his fastball and featured a sharp/tight 12/6 curveball curveball at 71-74 mph.

Sophomore Vince Waterman pitched the last 2 innings for Homewood Flossmoor allowing just 1 hit and struck out 3. The lefthander featured a lively fastball at 85-87 mph. Curveball was in the 68-74 mph range. His best offering this day was a changeup thrown at 75-78 mph with sink and feel for the bottom of the zone.
