Madison Preseason ID Showcase: Stats Posted

The Madison Preseason ID Showcase took place on Sunday March 13^th at GRB Academy in Madison, Wisconsin. Last years event was loaded with top prospects from around the state and this year’s event did not disappoint.

Again this season the talk of the event were the arms. No. 1 ranked 2017 Augie Mihlbauer sat an easy 89-90 mph with his fastball from a ¾ slot with a loose arm action. 2018 RHP Max Alba has a lanky, projectable frame at 6-foot-5, 185-pounds and worked 87-88 topping out at 89 mph with his fastball. Iowa Western commit Brett Smerz showed a quick arm working 87-89 mph with his fastball. 2017 RHP Jack Anderson made a jump this winter and sat 86-87 topping out at 88 mph.

2018 catchers Stephen Lund and Jeff Holtz had big days in the workout. Lund ran a 7.10 60-yard dash, showed strength thru contact with 95 mph exit velocity from a tee, popped 2.01-2.13 and threw 78 mph from the crouch. Holtz, an Indiana commit, ran a 7.02 60-yard dash, had 93 mph exit velocity, popped 1.93-2.04 and threw 77 mph from the crouch.

Kent State commit Nick Elsen had a big day running a 7.05 60-yard dash, throwing 91 mph from the outfield, and had 88 mph exit velocity from a tee. 2018 OF Ty Olejnik ran an event best 6.63 60-yard dash, threw 89 mph from the outfield and had 96 mph exit velocity from a tee.
