Summer Uncommitted Spotlight: Drew Abney

Uncommitted. Impressive player behind the plate coming off a strong and long high school season with one of the states top programs. A strong and physical 5-foot-10, 209-pound frame with versatility and quickness throughout. Abney had one of the loudest rounds of batting practice during the Top Prospect Games at the beginning of the summer, with loud barrel after barrel and showing an accurate-advanced feel with serious pull-side power. Cracked a .300 batting average over the summer with a stacked Georgia Jackets lineup. At Prep Baseball tournaments, he flashed hits up the middle and pull-side with hard line drives and consistent, hard contact. a dual sport athelete with offensive and defensive tools on display. An exciting follow as he goes into his junior year.

Uncommitted. Two quality barrels on Thursday morning where Drew showcased his ability to work deep into counts, and then find a barrel with two strikes. He had one of the loudest rounds of batting practice at Top Prospect Games, and he continues to flash the hit tool. High IQ in the box makes for a strong presence in the 2-spot with tons of pull-side power. Strong and physical lower half, with an accurate feel for the barrel. Continues to be dominant behind the dish with good arm strength, blocks it up, and has fluent movement throughout his stance.
