2015 Fall Prospect Games Corner Infielders

On Saturday, October 31, 2015, Prep Baseball Report Virginia/DC hosted its 2nd Annual Fall Prospect Games at James Madison University. Over 60 players participated in the one day event that featured a pro workout in the morning and games in the afternoon and evening. The event primarily featured members of the Class of 2017, and we will look back at it in the coming weeks.
Justin Cherry, 3B, North Stafford, 2017
From the right side hit from a tall, narrow stance. Robotic load back with a slight arm bar. Leg kick stride that stays on line and balanced. At times did not get back to center and hit off back side. Level swing path that cut across the ball. Bat exit velocity of 83 mph. Line drive hitter. From the left side hit from a balanced athletic stance. Smooth load back with a leg kick stride that was controlled. Did not get back to center. Average lower half turn. Level swing path with decent extension. Line drive hitter. Threw from a quick, high ¾ arm slot with some accuracy. Positional velocity of 78 mph. Average hands with clean footwork that was stiff at times. Quick, clean exchanges and played through the ball.
Chase DeGrood, 3B, Patriot, 2017
Hit from a balanced, athletic stance that stood square. Smooth load back with slight arm bar. Controlled stride that stays on line. Good lower half drive with decent balance. Hits against a firm front side. Bat exit velocity of 84 mph. Quick hands that stay level through the zone with good extension. Gap to gap swing, with signs of pull power. Fluid rhythm to swing. Barrel stays in the zone. Threw from a quick, loose ¾ arm slot with accuracy. Positional velocity of 77 mph. Good glove presentation with decent hands. Showed decent footwork that played through the ball with clean exchanges.
Logan Dickinson, 3B, Hayfield, 2017
Hit from a square, crouched stance. Load back with a controlled stride that stays on line. Decent lower half drive to the ball. Maintains good balance throughout swing. Bat exit velocity of 77 mph. Short, level path the ball. At times pulls barrel out of the zone. Line drive hitter. Threw from a long and loose high ¾ arm slot with accuracy. Positional velocity of 77 mph. Average hands with flat footwork. Clean exchanges.
Tommy Logan, 3B/1B, Patriot, 2017
Hit from a balanced stance that stood slightly open. Good rhythm in hands. Smooth load back with a leg kick stride that gets on line and is controlled. Good lower half drive with good balance. Bat exit velocity of 87 mph. Quick hands with a level swing path with decent extension at times. Cuts across the ball. Line drive hitter with gap power. Threw from a quick, high ¾ arm slot with some accuracy. Positional velocity of 73 mph. Average hands with slow footwork. Clean exchanges.
Mitch Mulville, 3B, James Madison, 2017
Hit from a crouched, athletic stance. Robotic load back. Toe-to-heel stride that stays on line. Drifts back to center. Lower half collapses. Maintains good balance. Bat exit velocity of 74 mph. Short, level path that at times does not get full extension. Line drive hitter. Threw from a quick, high ¾ arm slot with some accuracy. Positional velocity of 72 mph. Average hands with heavy footwork.

Quick hands with short, level swing path. At times cuts across the ball. Line drive hitter with gap power. Threw from a loose, high ¾ arm slot with accuracy. Positional velocity of 74 mph. Decent hands with clean footwork that was rigid at times. Quick, clean exchanges. Played through the ball.
Will Sokol, 1B, Loudoun County, 2017
Hit from a balanced, tall stance. Strong frame. Robotic load that sunk down. Fast toe-to-heel stride that spun open. At times lower half turned to the ball. Maintained balance throughout. Bat exit velocity 72 mph. Swing path barred out and worked around the ball. Line drive hitter with power potential. Robotic rhythm. Threw from a stiff, ¾ arm slot with some accuracy. Stiff hands with flat footwork. Clean exchanges.
Graeme Wright, 3B, Paul VI, 2017
Hits from an athletic stance that is slightly crouched. Clean, quiet load with toe tap stride that stays on line and balanced. Aggressive lower half turn to the ball. Maintains good balance. Bat exit velocity of 79 mph. Level swing path with extension that at times pulls off the ball. Line drive hitter. Threw from a long, loose high ¾ arm slot with accuracy. Positional velocity of 80 mph. Average hands with footwork that was slow. Quick, clean exchanges. Occasionally played through the ball.
