On Saturday, October 31, Prep Baseball Report Virginia/DC hosted its 2nd Annual Fall Prospect Games at James Madison University. Over 60 players participated in the one day event that featured a pro workout in the morning and games in the afternoon and evening. Over the next few days, we will break down in great detail the many talented pitchers that were on the field for the event.  Here is Part 1 of the pitchers that participated in the event.

+Daniel Agate, RHP, Gonzaga, 2017
Agate has an athletic frame and throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a smooth drop and drive delivery. He has a short, loose arm action and a quick arm that generates easy velocity. His shoulders are closed and slightly down as he strides out to a closed landing, creating a crossfire delivery. Agate’s fastball had late run and some plane to it. He commanded it well at the bottom of the zone and sat 77-79, touching 80. His curveball has sharp 11/5 action and decent armspeed and ran 64-68. His changeup was thrown for strikes with decent armspeed and sink, running 71-74.

+James Baumstark, RHP, Osbourn Park, 2018
Baumstark has an athletic frame and throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a smooth drop and drive delivery. His arm action is long and loose and his quick arm stroke generates velocity with normal effort. His shoulders closed and slightly uphill as he strides out to a closed landing before falling off as he finishes. Baumstark’s fastball sat 77-79 and touched 80 with slight sink to it and good downward plane. His curveball changes shape between 12/6 and 11/5 based on location and has good late break to it, running 67-69. The pitch has a chance to develop into a very good one as he gets stronger and tightens its spin. His changeup has sink and was thrown with good armspeed, running 73-74.

+Antonio Buckley, LHP, Westfield, 2017
Buckley is a lanky, athletic lefty who has a smooth drop and drive delivery and throws from a three-quarters arm slot. He has a long arm action and a quick arm that generates velocity with normal effort. His shoulders are closed and slightly uphill as he strides out on line and screws into a square landing before falling off as he finishes. Buckley’s fastball sat 76-77 and touched 78 and had some late run to it. His curveball had sharp 1/7 break and was thrown with good armspeed, running 62-64. His changeup was also thrown with decent armspeed and had a bit of arm side run to it, sitting 67-68.

+Hunter Cochrane, RHP, Glen Allen, 2017
Cochrane has a strong lower half and throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a smooth drop and drive delivery. He has a short, loose arm action and a quick armstroke. His shoulders are closed and slightly uphill as he strides out on line to a square landing before falling off a bit as he finishes. Cochrane’s fastball had hard late run at the bottom of the zone and sat 79-81. He threw a sharp 10/4 slider with good armspeed that ran 63-66. He slowed his arm a bit on the one changeup that he threw, and the pitch had sink while running 64. He showed good command of all his pitches.

+Justin Cherry, RHP, North Stafford, 2017
Cherry has an athletic frame and throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a smooth drop and drive delivery. He has a long, loose arm action and a quick arm that generates velocity with normal effort. His shoulders are uphill and on line as he strides out to a square landing before finishing in an athletic position. Cherry’s fastball had hard run and was 78-79. He threw a sharp 11/5 breaking curveball with decent armspeed that ran 67-69. His changeup had fade and decent armspeed and was 67.

+Austin Cross, LHP, Jefferson (WV), 2017
Cross has a lanky frame that is projectable and throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a drop and drive delivery. He has a short arm action and a quick arm that generates velocity with normal effort. His shoulders are closed and down as he strides out to a closed landing, creating a classic lefty crossfire. Cross’s fastball had heavy run to it and sat 80-82. He threw a sharp, 2/8 breaking slider with good armspeed that ran 67-71. He also showed a changeup that had a lot of arm side run and was thrown with good armspeed, sitting 72-75. He had good command of all three pitches.

+Dalton Davis, LHP/OF, Atlee, 2017
Davis has an athletic frame and throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a drop and drive delivery. He has a short arm action and throws with some effort. His shoulders uphill and on line as he strides out on line to a square landing. Davis’s fastball had heavy run and sat 70-71, touching 72. His curveball had 2/8 break and decent armspeed, running 56. His changeup had decent armspeed and sinking action, sitting 62.

+Logan Dickinson, RHP/3B, Hayfield, 2017
Dickinson has an athletic frame and throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a smooth drop and drive delivery. His arm action is short and loose and he generates velocity with normal effort. His shoulders are closed and slightly down as he strides out on line before coming to a square landing and falling off a bit as he finishes. Dickinson’s fastball has slight cut to it and sat 77-79, touching 80. He threw a sharp, 11/5 curveball with decent armspeed that ran 65-68. His changeup had good armspeed and slight cut, sitting 73. He primarily used his fastball and curveball and had good command of both pitches.

+Derek Domecq, LHP/OF, Western Albemarle, 2018
Domecq has a strong, athletic frame, and throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a smooth drop and drive delivery. He has a short, loose action and a quick arm that generates easy velocity. His shoulders are closed as he strides out online to a closed landing, creating a slight crossfire delivery and providing good deception. Domecq’s fastball sat 77-79 and touched 80 and had slight run and sink to it. His slider was very good and had power 1/7 break and good armspeed, running 68-72. His change-up had fade to it and was thrown with decent armspeed, running 74-76.

+Gary Fuller, RHP, Stone Bridge, 2017
Fuller has an athletic frame and strong lower half and throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a smooth drop and drive delivery. He has a long, quick arm action that generates velocity with normal effort. His shoulders are uphill and slightly closed as he strides out to a closed landing before falling off as he finishes. Fuller’s fastball has good plane to it and slight cutting action, and ran 81-83 on the day. He threw a sharp, 12/6 curveball with decent armspeed that ran 64-67.
