On Saturday, October 31, Prep Baseball Report Virginia/DC hosted its 2nd Annual Fall Prospect Games at James Madison University. Over 60 players participated in the one day event that featured a pro workout in the morning and games in the afternoon and evening. Over the next few days, we will break down in great detail the many talented pitchers that were on the field for the event.  Here is Part 2 of the pitchers that participated in the event.

+Stephen Gerade, RHP, T.C.Williams, 2017
Gerade has a strong lower half to his frame and throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a smooth drop and drive delivery. He has a short, loose, quick arm action that generates velocity with normal effort. His shoulders are closed and slightly downhill as he strides out on line and screws into a square landing before coming to an athletic finish. Gerade’s fastball has heavy run and he commanded it well to both sides of the plate, sitting 78-80 and touching 81. His slider has late, power, 10/4 break and is thrown with very good armspeed, running 73-74. Gerade’s delivery creates a lot of deception and he generates a lot of weak ground balls.

+Zachary Hall, RHP, East Rockingham, 2017
Hall has a lanky frame and throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a tall and fall delivery. He has a short arm action and throws with a lot of effort. His shoulders are closed and slightly uphill as he strides out to a slightly closed landing before finishing in an athletic position with a bit of a recoil. Hall’s fastball had late run and sink to it and ran 74-76. He threw a late 11/5 curveball with good armspeed that ran 61-64. His changeup had good armspeed and sink to it, running 68-69. He commanded all three pitches well. 

+James Handley, RHP, 2016, George C. Marshall, 2016
Handley has an athletic, projectable frame and throws from an over the top arm slot with a drop and drive delivery. He has a long arm action and a quick arm that generates velocity with some effort. His shoulders are uphill and slightly closed as he strides out to a square landing before coming to and athletic finish and recoiling with his arm. Handley’s fastball had slight run and ran 83-84, touching 85. His curveball had sharp, power, 11/5 break and was thrown with good armspeed, running 66-71. His changeuph had decent armspeed and was 71.

+Evan Harrison, RHP, South County, 2017
Harrison has an athletic frame and a strong lower half and he throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a drop and drive delivery. His arm action is short and loose and his quick arm stroke generates velocity with normal effort. His shoulders are uphill and slightly closed as he strides out on line to a square landing before recoiling and falling off a bit as he finishes. Harrison’s fastball sat at 80 and touched 81 with slight cutting action to it and downward plane. His slider had sharp, late 10/4 action and was thrown with decent armspeed, sitting 67-68. He only threw his changeup in warmups, but it had decent armspeed and fading action to it.

+Owen Lamon, RHP, Oakton, 2017
Lamon is a big, athletic righty with a projectable frame who throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a smooth drop and drive delivery. His arm action is short and loose and his lightning quick arm generates velocity with normal effort. His shoulders are closed and slightly uphill as he strides out on line to a square landing before falling off a bit as he finishes. Lamon’s fastball had late run and sink and good angle to it, running 84-85 and touching 86. He threw a late, 10/4 breaking slider with decent armspeed that ran 73-74. He also flashed a sinking changeup with decent armspeed that ran 72.

+Tommy Logan, 1B/RHP, Patriot, 2017
Logan has a strong lower half and throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a smooth drop and drive delivery. He has a short, loose arm action and throws with normal effort. His shoulders are level and on line as he strides out to a square landing and comes to an athletic finish. Logan’s fastball had late run and sink to it and sat 76-78. His curveball had late 10/4 break to it and was thrown with decent armspeed, running 64-65. He threw both pitches for strikes

+Brandon Luke, RHP, Centreville, 2017
Luke has an athletic frame with strong legs and throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a drop and drive delivery. He has a short, quick arm action that generates velocity with normal effort. His shoulders are level or slightly down and closed as he strides out on line and screws into a square landing before coming to an athletic finish. Luke’s fastball sat 80-81, touching 82, with slight cut and good downward plane to it. His curveball had sharp 12/6 action with decent armspeed and flashed the potential to be a very good pitch, running 63-66.

+Robert Marker, LHP, Midlothian, 2017
Marker has a lanky frame and throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a drop and drive delivery. He has a short arm action and generates velocity with normal effort. His shoulders are closed and he lands closed, adding deception to his delivery. Marker’s fastball had heavy run to it and was 71-73 on the day. His slider had big 2/8 action that turned into more of a sweep when he dropped his arm, running 65-68. His changeup was thrown with good armspeed and had fading action, running 66-68.

+Mitch Mulville, 3B/RHP, James Madison, 2017
Mulville has a lanky frame and throws from a three-quarters arm slot. He has a short arm action and a smooth delivery. His shoulders are closed and slightly uphill as he strides out on line to a square landing before coming to an athletic finish. Mulville’s fastball had some run to it and was 72-74 on the day. His curveball had 11/5 break and ran 60-64. He threw one changeup with decent armspeed and some run that was 67.

+Eli Ottinger, RHP, Benedictine College Prep, 2017
Ottinger has an athletic, projectable frame and throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a smooth drop and drive delivery. He has a short arm action and a quick arm that generates velocity with regular effort. His shoulders are closed and slightly uphill as he strides out to a square landing before falling off a bit as he finishes. Ottinger’s fastball sat 81-83, touching 84, with slight sink and run and good plane to it. His curveball had sharp 11/5 action and was thrown with good armspeed, running 68-72. His curveball was much better at the higher end of its velocity range and he showed good command of both of his pitches.
