WILLISTON—Chiefland traveled to Williston to take on the Red Devils to try and clinch a state tournament bid. Unfortunately for Chiefland, they ran into 2016 LHP/OF and Florida commit Austin Langworthy who threw a no hitter and struck out 12. In fact, Langworthy only allowed one base runner that reached on an error with one out in the seventh inning. Williston won by a score of 2-0.
The Red Devils were able to strike early when Langworthy led off the first inning by reaching on an error and was driven in on a single by 2015 C Haydn Cano. After a scoreless second, Langworthy led off the third for Williston with a double down the left field line and was later brought in on a sacrifice fly by 2015 OF Cameron Coffey.
Two runs were all Langworthy and the Red Devils needed to secure their regional championship and state tournament bid. Williston will face Hamilton County in the state semifinals at Jet Blue Park on May 13th.
