2018 Junior Future Games:Team Florida Quick Hits Games 3 & 4

The 2018 PBR Junior Future Games features the best identified prospects from across the PBR Coverage Area in a four-day event at Grand Park in Westfield, IN. Participants are given the unique opportunity of competing against other top-level players while representing their respective state in a high-level atmosphere. The event consists of a workout day and four pool play games.

Team Florida played their final two games on Saturday which took on Team Illinois in their first game followed by Team Arizona  in their second one. Below we take a look at some of the early notes and quick hits from the final two games at the 2018 PBR Junior Future Games:

Logan Smith, MIF, Ida Baker HS, FL (2022)
Lean athletic projectable framed Player. In his inning of work he showed a clean, effortless delivery from a natural 3/4 slot. The fastball sat at 79-80 touching 81 and although it’s fairly straight he worked down consistently with good extension at release. Flashed a few sliders at 72-73, the pitch lacked depth, but did have some short late horizontal bite. Smith has some intriguing tools and With continued reps I expect his best day are still ahead of him.

Garrett Mackowiak, OF/LHP, Wiregrass Ranch HS, FL (2022)
On the mound  he worked 5 innings against talented Team Arizona. He showed above average arm and hand speed from a short 3/4 arm slot while landing slightly across his body. The fastball worked 76-79 topping at 80. It shows good life with late quick arm side run. Showed good feel for the breaking ball especially as the game went on. It’s got 2/8 slurvy shape ranging 67-69. Also flashed a few changeups at 68-70. The pitch has split like tumble when thrown down. At times he doesn’t repeat his delivery causing him to occasionally lose command of the fastball. Overall the young, athletic lefty will be a player to definitely follow.

Drake Harman, OF, Bloomingdale HS, FL (2022)
Continued to show an above average feel for the barrel. The swing is level and compact and had an RBI single in the first game of the day.

Cade Kurland, MIF/RHP, Berkeley Prep, FL (2023)
Has elite arm speed for class. There is some effort on the mound but worked 77-79 touching 81 mph. Also had a bases clearing double in the first game of the day He has above average all around tools that play in game.

Ruban Gandarilla, INF, Hialeah Gardens, FL (2022)
Gandaeilla has a lot of quick twitch actions The reverse toe-tap can get him off his timing, but when on time the swing is quick and level and had a line drive single in the second game of the day.

Aiden Roe, OF,  Desoto County, FL
Roe had a pair of hits on the first day. He has long levers and a projectable frame. Stayed n the barrel offensively throughout the weekend.
