This past weekend, January 26th and 27th, the Preseason All-State took place at IMG Acdemy in Bradenton, FL. Preseason All State has quickly become the premier Preseason event in the state of Florida. 

Now in its third year, this year's event featured some of the top talent throughout Florida. Nearly 100 prospects from all high school classes took part in a two-day showcase. 

Team by team we will break each rosted down with a quick look at some of the noteworthy tools the participating prospects displayed.

2022 Christopher Frew  (Fleming Iland) is slightly undersized but stood out with a lot of quick twitch actions. Has a loose, quick arm and offensively has a short, level swing that produced consistent line drives.

2020 MIF Hayden Reed (IMG Academy) has a quality first step defensively and a compact swing with present bat speed.

2022 LHP Garrett Mackowiak (Wiregrass Ranch) is very athletic. The arm action is very clean, repeatable and projectable. Fastball was up to 81 mph and showed a feel for an above average curveball and changeup.

Virginia recruit, 2022 RHP Evan Dobias (Westminster Academy) showed why is one of the top freshmen in the country. He has an athletic frame with a clean, quick compact arm actions. Fastball was up to 84 mph with much more to come and feel for a pair of above average offspeed pitches.

2022 MIF Finn Howell (St. John's Country Day) is a very solid defender, working under control. Offensively, the swing was level with a feel for the barrel and present bat speed.

Miami recruit, 2022 RHP Ryan Fry (Wharton) has one of the higher ceilings with an extremely projectable frame. The arm action is clean and mechanics are sound and repeatable. Fastball was up to 83 mph, with much more to come more consistently as he continues to add strength and matures.

Uncommitted 2021 LHP Ethan Adkison (Next Level Baseball Academy) has a strong, 6-foot-1, 170 pound frame. Showed a feel to pitch and a good lower half, up to 79 mph, but a follow going forward.

2022 LHP Brandon Barriera (Westminster Academy) was electric. An extremely live and athletic body. The arm is extremely quick and clean with very little effort. The ball jumps out of his hand and topped at 88 mph. Still very young in the face, it was just the beginning of presumably many big things to come.

2020 1B William Quinones (University) has strength and athleticism. Running a 7.14 with athletic strides. Moved well defensively, but offensive stood out with present strength and an exit velocity of 90 mph.

2022 C Brody Donay (Lakeland Christian) has a lanky 6-foot-3, 170 pound, projectable, frame. There are a lot of present tools, but shows potential to be an above average defender. Offensively, the long limbs create leverage and power potential.

2021 3B Brett Blair (Buchholz) is one of the more physically gifted sophomores. 6-foot-2, 205 pounds he ran a 6.87 60 yard dash and was 83 mph across the infield. The bat is his best tool where there is bat to ball skills but the strength plays with present power and more to come with the best 2021 exit velocity of 94 mph.
