On Feb. 20, the PBR COLORADO team hosted the Colorado Underclass Invitational at the Marucci Clubhouse in Castle Rock, CO. The event featured 75+ uncommitted underclassmen from all 4 corners of this great state. Our staff collaborated to highlight the biggest takeaways and highlights from Saturday's event. Over the next week, we will be highlighting our players through our series of Quick Hits. We started our coverage with an extensive look at all players stats and an event STATS LEADERBOARD.
Today, our coverage continues with a breakdown of Top PITCHERS and Performances. This event produced 15+ 2023's with FB Velos above 85. Some new faces and some within our PBR Rankings are highlighted today:
Max Stanley, RHP/1B, Legend/Yard Dogs The Wichita State commit and #1 Ranked 2023 player in Colorado, Stanley was all business in his approach to this event. He sat 88-90 with great tempo and a repeatable delivery. Continues to trend up with strength and his overall development. Top 5 in Spin Rate AVG(FB 2303) and FB Velo 89.62
Darian Burnett, RHP, Erie/Yard Dogs Burnett's 1st PBR event was Impressive. Big Frame 6-3, 205. FB ranged from 85-89.31, SL 70-72 and a CH up to 79. Arm has looseness with attacking delivery. High leg lift with slight coil. Still developing 2023, with TONS of potential.
Brok Eddy, RHP/OF, Brighton/Slammers 6-2, 175 athletic frame is still developing. Max FB at 85.59 and has consistent ASR and sink. Arm works with ease and has repeatable delivery that has high leg kick and coil. Throws OS for strikes. High Ceiling for growth and development.
Ben Leikam, LHP, Valor Christian/Yard Dogs GREAT performance for Ben! LHP, 6-2,195 frame FB Max was 90.3 and ranged consistently from 88-90. Velo jump from Nov 1 event of 4mph. Attacking southpaw with potential for +CB/SL and FB with ASR. Still room for development with high ceiling. TOP LHP in the State in 2023
Nolan Phillips, SS/RHP, Palmer Ridge/Colorado Braves Quick twitch athlete who showed well on the mound and at the plate. Quick Arm and aggressive style produced a FB up to 88 Range 85-88 Spin Rate(2538) CB Spin(2653) Stayed in the Zone. 5-7,140 gets a lot out of smaller frame! Produced a 3.94 Home to 1st time and 90 Exit Velo. Good overall Athlete
Noah Scott, 3B/RHP, Broomfield/Slammers Thin Frame with a lot of potential. Still developing growth and refining mechanics. FB max at 87 High 3/4 release CB 70-72 Trackman Extension AVG at 9.87, High 3/4 Release. High Ceiling for this developing athlete
Cody Sheets, RHP/OF, Air Academy/Yatd Dogs Impressive 1st PBR Event for this athlete. As a RHP, Cody's FB was at 86.33, Max effort delivery for OT. Room for development and refinement. 6-1, 160 frame can add strength. Good feel for OS. Impressive Barrel round of BP as LHH. Exit Velo 90.96 Good Rhythm and timing as hitter. Nice Surprise trending UP!
Ty Thompson, RHP/1B, Riverdale Ridge,Slammers At early stages of development, demonstrated consistent and gradual improvements in measurables. FB 86.35 with OT release (Release Ht 6.21) Has slight coil and some dip/drive to delivery. Good Extension(8.90) High Celiing. Also shows potential as RHH/1B. 93 Exit Velo. Some length, but has future potential for POP. Great to follow as he Trends UP
