The Uncommitted Spotlight Series continues as the summer circuit is getting underway Prep Baseball California is beginning to highlight some of the top uncommitted class of '26 athletes ahead of the August, 1st contact date for this class. The player featured today is one of the top players in the state of California and figures prominently in our Class of 2026 Rankings. The players featured within our Uncommitted Spotlight series are ones that college coaches and fans should be keeping their eyes on over the coming months.
We invite you to get to know them through the eyes of our Prep Baseball California staff of scouts both through our in person looks at players and/or the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, Swift Performance, and Visual Edge provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.
Today, we put the spotlight on the number 1 ranked player in the 2026 class in SoCal '26 OF Anthony Murphy from Corona High School. Uber athletic with wiry present strength to his at 6' 182 lbs. with easy actions and explosivenss to his profile Murphy has consistently performed across the board for the Prep Baseball California staff. Murphy was an attendee to the recent Prep Baseball ProCase West where he excelled against top competition from Arizona, Utah, and Nevada as part of team California. During the workout portion of the day Murphy displayed his electric skill set across the board first with a 6.79 second 60 yard dash that included a top run speed of 21.1 MPH. From there he moved into the OF where he showed off his arm strength with consistent 92 MPH throws with carry to home plate. His athleticism, arm strength and natural instincts for the ball in air profile as a potential impact defender in CF long term. As good a defender as Murphy is his tools carry to the offensive side of the game with a loud presence. During batting practice Murphy consistently barreled baseballs from the middle to pull side of the field including a peak EV at 99.6 MPH with 91.1 MPH average EV and a 75% sweet spot rate including launching a pullside HR to LCF. His swing itself is balanced with present bat speed at 72.8 MPH an efficient turn generating 14.3 G's of rotational acceleration to allow his fast hands to work through the zone at 23.4 MPH with leverage in his bat path to be an impact top of the order hitter. During the game play portion Murphy collected an RBI single to CF. With his abundance of tools, athleticism, and upside Murphy has been a standout performer showing his tools to play at a high level in game including this spring for the CIF-SS D1 champion Corona Panther Program Murphy posted a team leading .390 average to go with a .433 OBP/.642 SLG and 7 doubles, 3 triples, 6 HRs, 24 RBIs, 32 runs scored while facing down elite competition within the state of California and nationally. The ceiling for Murphy is very high as he continues to mature and develop as a player to go with his athleticism his already stellar performance has a chance to go to even higher levels over the course of his final 2 years of high school/travel baseball.
