A busy week end of baseball around the state, tournaments in the Little Rock metro with Mid-America Tournaments, American Legion tournaments at Jacksonville and Paragould. Yesterday I sat in on the Mid-America tournaments at Burns Park, Today and tomorrow I will be in Paragould.
Perfect Timing Grey 2 vs Arkansas Prospects Moore-1
A well-played defensive game where Perfect Timing Grey defeated Arkansas Prospects Moore 2-1. The Prospects received a strong outing from 2017 RHP Owen Stuckey who threw 4 shutout innings to start the game. Unfortunately that wasn’t enough as Perfect Timing scratched across 2 runs in the 5th and made those 2 runs enough.
APM scores in the bottom of the 2nd when 2017 MIF Drew Menard scored on a 2017 MIF Zac Freeman fielder’s choice. After that the Perfect Timing pitching continued to work out of jams escaping a bases loaded no outs in the 3rd and 2 on no one out again in the 4th.
Perfect Timing scored three in the 5th when 2017 C Cole Strange drove in a 2017 OF/1B Caleb Kimbrel and later scored on a sac fly by 2017 MIF Justin Hines.
Arkansas Prospects Menard 13 vs Midwest Nationals Grey 0
Arkansas Prospects Menard defeated Midwest Nationals Grey 13-0. The offense was dynamic from top to bottoms with every player in the prospect line up reaching base. 2017 MIF/OF Casey Martin set the tone from the leadoff spot reaching base 3 times and scoring 3 runs.
After the offense scored 2 runs in the 1st the Arkansas Prospects Menard never felt pressure as their pitching staff cruised with 2018 LHP Jordan Wicks, 2017 RHP Cade Tucker, and 2016 LHP Collin Cahill combined to pitch a complete game shutout.
Wicks started the game throwing three innings, pounding the strike zone with his fastball, change up and curveball. Tucker came in and worked efficiently command three pitches for strikes before handing the ball over to Cahill who located his fastball and put hitters away with his swing and miss curveball.
