2017 OF Caleb Kimbel committed to Central Arkansas, Monday afternoon. Kimbel is the 5th ranked outfielder in the 2017 Arkansas Rankings. I saw Kimbel for the 1st time at area codes try-outs in 2015 in Jenks, OK. He impressed with his raw strength and bat speed. I saw him again in the spring for Har-ber High School as he anchored the middle of their line up and helped lead them to the State Semifinals. He earned an invite to the Arkansas Top Prospects Games at Arvest Ballpark. He had a solid showing, at this event, not only showing a more refined offensive game, showing the ability to hit to all fields. He had a strong showing throughout the summer with Perfect Timing. His play this summer earned him an invitation to the All State Games that was played over the past week end. Below is my report on Kimbel.
2017 Caleb Kimbel OF Har-ber High School
Kimbel is a 6-foot-1 220-pound OF/1B with a wide frame and a strong build. Defensively he plays through the baseball with fluid heavy footwork, using average hands with some stiffness, he uses a normal exchange with a short arm action from a ¾ arm slot. He throws the ball accurately. Offensively he starts from an open stance with a smooth load short stride. He attacks the baseball with fast bat speed with an uphill swing. He remains balanced through extension. Overall Kimbel is a physical player with raw strength and bat speed.
