Was consistently on the barrel in his at bats, displaying high exit velocities by squaring up multiple pitches in different plate appearances. Closes an open stance, allows him to whip the barrel through the zone, generating easy power through his lower half. Stands at a projectable 5-foot-9, 142-pounds with room to fill out as an incoming sophomore.

Wells pitched a complete game shutout on Thursday while striking out eight. Wells started the game in the mid-70s but started to rise in the third inning at 78-80 mph, T81. Wells held that for the majority of the game while also showing a 67-68 mph slider that mixed well. The right-hander had an easy and repeatable motion that didn’t put much perceived effort into it.
