RHP Wyatt Rushing (Elkhorn, 2024) has long been an intriguing arm inside of the state’s 2024 class and had a standout performance on Tuesday to keep the intrigue high. The uncommitted right-hander stands at 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, and moves well on the mound. Coupled with an athletic frame and delivery, Rushing displayed a quick arm action that was short and repeatable. His in-game stats speak for themselves as he struck out four batters across two innings of work and looked comfortable against some of the top bats in the state. Rushing ran his fastball up to 89.1 mph as it carried through the zone and it averaged more than 17’ of induced vertical break, which was an event high. With a slider and a changeup up his sleeve, the incoming senior has the room to develop the offspeed pitches as compliments to his commanding fastball.

Delivery: Uptemp delivery, medium leg lift into aggressive drop and drive delivery.
Arm Action: RH. High hands, long arm arc into 3/4 slot.
FB: T90, 88-89 mph. Life through the zone with some run. T2231, 2027 average rpm.

RHP Wyatt Rushing (Elkhorn Area, 2024) made for yet another quality look during our time in Windsor on Sunday. Standing at 6-foot-1, 175-pounds with more room to add, Rushing is an uptempo mover while on the mound, quickly side stepping into a high leg kick before aggressively working down the mound. During his ‘pen, Rushing lived 88-89 mph with his highest coming in at 89.7 mph and his fastball plays with life through the zone. As for his offspeeds, he threw a slider in the mid-to-70s that featured 13.5’ of horizontal movement on average and he was able to throw it in and around the zone. He rounded out his three-pitch mix with a changeup in the low 80s, and it averaged 13.7’ on horizontal movement on average (16.5’ max.).
Rushing owns a fastball with prominent potential, capable of becoming a swing-and-miss offering on its own, as he further hones his control of it. It sat 85-87 mph at this event featuring notable vertical action and ride through the zone, and he flashed a biting breaking ball that spun at over 2,200 rpm on average. He’s a strong 6-foot, 175-pound follow in the state with a high ceiling on the mound.

At 6-foot, 175-pounds, Rushing displayed similar arm strength to what we saw roughly six months ago, sitting at 87-90 mph with his fastball. Rushing’s changeup showed as his best offering on this day, as it flashed late horizontal action at 79-80 mph, thrown at arm speed. His breaking ball had more depth to it, though he’s still developing a feel to land it around the zone. He showed as arguably one of the top outfield defenders of the day as well, reaching a 90 mph max to home with true carry and paired it up with natural outfield actions that work through the baseball in stride. The arm strength he possesses for his age and he’s firmly one of the top uncommitted sophomores in the state.

Hit: RHH. Balanced setup, slight back load, leg kick, short stride. Line drive approach.
Power: 58 mph exit velocity from the tee.
Run: 7.86 runner in the 60.
Delivery: Rushed delivery, uphill shoulders, effort delivery, has balance.
Arm Action: RH. Over-the-top arm angle, quick arm speed, short, stiff action.
FB: T64, 60-64 mph. Plays straight.
CB: 53-58 mph. 12/6 shape, gradual movement.
SL: 57-62 mph. 12/6 shape, sharp movement.
