Getting the start for Hitters 2022 at our PBR at The Rock Fall Championships was RHP Mason Buss and the Kansas State commit turned in yet another masterful outing. He went five quality innings, allowing just one hit and one run, while striking out nine. Buss attacked hitters with an 85-88 mph fastball and effectively mixed his pitches when he needed to. He continues to show out as one of the state’s most complete and competitive arms each time we see him take the mound.

The junior recently committed to Kansas State and was the first member of Team Wisconsin’s PBR Future Games squad to announce his verbal intention. Buss is developing a reputation as one of the state’s most competitive 2022 arms with his inherent feel to pitch and simple, low-effort mid-80s stuff. We’ve seen Buss up into the upper-80s, but he was more 84-85 mph this past weekend throughout his five dominant innings. His fastball is a straight four-seam type that he’s demonstrated a feel to locate, and he mixes in a slurve-y breaking ball to earn his swings and misses – which he did often on Saturday. Buss struck out 13 batters in five innings while walking only one and he pitched over four hits, a couple of which came in the first and he never looked back. His pitchability is a separator amongst his 2022 peers, and it’ll be interesting to watch him further develop after an important offseason.

+ 2022 RHP Mason Buss (Arrowhead HS, WI) was impressive in his start for the Hitters 2022 squad, and pounded the bottom of the zone with a fastball that featured some late life to the arm side at 80-82. The athletic, 6-foot, 160-pound right-hander also showed feel for a breaking ball with depth at 70-72 along with a faded changeup in the low 70s for strikes. The arm works short and quick, and the ball jumped on hitters, and he will likely see a significant velocity jump in the near future.
