2/24/19: Long, athletic bodied at 6-foot-5, 205 pounds Toglia looks to be in great shape. He has noticeably thinned since last summer in the Cape. Young for his draft class, he will only be 20 years old on draft day. With a loose and above average arm, he also showed good agility, hands and actions at first base and projects to be a plus defender. At the plate he was not nearly as impressive this series compared to what he showed last spring at the Big Ten/Pac-12 Challenge. Although he mustered four hits in 14 at-bats this past weekend, Toglia seemed out of sync from both sides of the plate. During batting practice from the right side he did a good job of staying inside the ball and using the middle of the field. During the game he pulled off the ball, but managed to get a couple doubles to his pull side. From the left side he showed more lift in his swing and was tardy to the fastball during Friday's opener as Georgia Tech pounded him inside with fastballs. Later in the series he adjusted and began to drive the ball to center field. Overall, he projects to hit for average with above average power at the next level and is a likely Day One pick. 8/8/18: 6’5, 220 pounds. Extra-large, developed frame. Noticeable presence as soon as he steps onto the diamond. Toglia saw quite a bit of time in the OF this summer but he’s a below average runner who projects long-term at 1B. Got down the line between 4.44 and 4.59 from the right side. Although he’s not a burner, he’s light on his feet for his size. Switch hitting ability enhances his prospect status. Simple, square set up from the right side. Subtle forward step to get into his load. Quick hands with a level swing. Bat path got steep at times when his weight fell forward too soon. Hands occasionally push to the ball and make it difficult to lift anything. Better hand path as a lefty with a level barrel through the zone. Stays in his legs more consistently. Flashed pull-side power with low effort. Overall, powerful college bat who is a threat from both sides of the plate. Potential early round pick in 2019. (D Jurik)

3-5-2018: 6’5/210, sophomore Michael Toglia is a switch-hitting 1B with a calm approach, smooth swing and easy power to all fields. Upright and open stance. Similar to other tall hitters, he wants to get extended and prefers the low pitch, middle away. Drives it the other way with ease. Also showed the ability to fight off the inside pitches when pitchers tried to exploit his size/height. Looks like he will hit for both high average and big power ala Lance Berkman, but with a much smoother right-handed swing. He is the top prospect who played in The Challenge, and a likely first round pick in 2019.  (Seifert)
