Huxley Holcombe: LHP/OF, (2022) out of Worcester Academy, MA. is a projectable 6-foot-5, 175-pound left-handed pitching prospect. On the mound, Holcombe displayed a quick arm and a fluid delivery. He gets to a consistent balance point at the top, before heading down the mound with the shoulders in line with home plate. He lands square, finishing over his front leg. Holcombe’s arm swing is a longer, over-the-top slot producing a fastball that sits 80-81 MPH (Max spin 2039; Avg 1976) with some arm side tilt. He also showcased a nice 12/6 curveball (65-68 MPH (Max spin 1860; Avg 1678) and the feel for a changeup.
6-foot-3, 160-pound left-handed hitting first baseman and pitcher. The frame is long and wiry, should be a solid prospect as he matures. Ran a 7.52 sixty at the event. Defensively, the glove is solid at first base and he moves his feet appropriately around the bag. He threw 75 mph across the diamond out of a long arm swing. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 76 mph. The setup is even in base and the front foot steps into the swing. The start is upright and he lets the hands work. Physical strength gains will do wonders for him as a hitter. The hands work freely. On the mound, the fastball sat 73-75 mph, downhill at times. The spin pitch is 64-65 mph, big in shape. The changeup showed fade and action, sitting 64-65 mph. The delivery has minimal crossfire to the feet and the slot is above 3/4. The tempo is methodical as he tries to keep it simple to foot strike. I like the potential as the arm works very well and he is long.
